I'm about to run my first full-fledged campaign for a couple of my friends, based on a Warring States of Japan version of the Guilds of Ravnica. I've mostly relied on Marc Altfuldisch's "Monsters of the Orient" on DMsGuild for all my East Asian monster needs, but a combination of 3 things most grabbed my attention -- Monster of the Orient's Orochi (Hydra Deity of Death), and Ravnica's Agyrem (Ghost Quarter, where all spirits are essentially trapped) and Vraska (the Gorgon Queen incumbent).
Ever since those three fell into my map, I was all fired up for the campaign, making maps and plots and what have you (My Precious, I know), but I was wondering if there was any ideas y'all might have to enforce the themes related to those three -- death, acceptance, legacy, and meaning, and is petrification death, and all sorts of things -- in more particular scopes?
Feature undead a lot? Spirits of unrest? Maybe the party has to decide pull the plug on someone near-death or who has lost their sanity, I don't know -- I really want to delve into this theme, and, frankly, kinda heavy topic, which I always wanted to explore in my own personal life.
My dream ending would be a bunch of snakefolk reviving Orochi, but other than that and the occasional reference to schizophrenia and lobotomy, I haven't really delved as much as I would have liked or, indeed, feel is appropriate.
Any and all feedback and ideas are appreciated! No wrong answers in D&D except not playing (I guess!)
