I am trying out running a few one-shots set in a modern world that i have set up. Any ideas on any rules adaptations for 5e that might be required to run the one shots smoothly would be appreciated. The players have been made aware that magic is being kept out of public knowledge and i am familiar with this world as i have used it to run campaigns in other systems like FATE, cuthullu and vampire (masquerade) so the only thing i'm worried about is some broken interaction of the 5e rules with modern technology.

What I'd recommend is by replacing pretty much having any form of modern technology and replace it with magic and reskin longbow and crossbow as guns also if you want to use that the dmg has some rules for it
I honestly don't think it's a mechanic issue of modern setting destroying the game I think you may just have to take the extra 30 minutes to reskin things into modern things. For instance message and magic in general can just be technology but because it's either new/old few people know how to use it. That's the way I'd do it.
I am creating a zombie apocalypse dnd game, and I want to be able to use modern day guns and armor. Anyone k ow how to do that or what website to go to where that would work?
