I am relatively new to DMing and am running Ghosts of Saltmarsh for a new group. I was curious how others handle giving cursed items to players. Do you tell your players it is cursed so they then "know" to look for someone or something to remove the curse, or do you just advise them of the properties of the item and it's penalties and let them figure out that it's cursed on their own? I'm trying to decide how to break it to my player that he picked up the cursed luckstone from the Skeletal Alchemist.
A cursed item should never be known until the curse takes effect. So when they use it to get advantage on an ability check, on their next 2 checks make sure to tell them to roll with disadvantage.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
