Short back story to the event, the party was tracking down a kobold who was controlling the minds of villagers. The players make it near the lair and there are small spy holes for some of the enemy to stay in and watch over traps that were laid out. The players engage and kill most of them, leaving one goblin alive. The barbarian broke one of the goblins legs and continued shattering it to try and get info out of him. He told him what he could and was left to crawl away.
Now our game is split into two different groups/parties that play at different times. In one game the DM created a group that is seeking vengeance on different members of the party for past transgressions. The parties assassin is being tortured every few nights with the dream spell, and has had his reputation ruined. Now the DM of that game wants me to add the previously mentioned goblin to this "legion of doom". The hard part is that taking a direct battle approach is not plausible without just throwing several high CR creatures at the barbarian. The barbarian is a dice rolling god, he rolls nat 20s way too often, yes we checked for weighted dice, even changed out his dice with my own nothing beats his dice rolling abilities. That being said, he is Bear totem barbarian/moon druid mix so taking him out is hard enough when he is alone, and nearly impossible when he has his party with him.
Currently the only vengeance ive plotted for the goblin is through the constant destruction of the characters home village (destroyed early on in the campaign, he is now putting coin into it to rebuild it), the goblin leads other creatures of the mountain to destroy it when the workers get any progress done. Any suggestions?
So the goblin didn't know what to do, wanted revenge and needed help?
How about asking the neighbors for help? Didn't a night hag live close by?
Her Nightmare Haunting can make the barbarian's life really difficult. Using the Going without Sleep rule, he may be dead in 6 nights.
Alternately, Goblins are sneaky. If he can sneak up to the sleeping barbarian, he can kill him with a rot grub by placing a single one on his skin. Being unconscious, he will fail the DC 10 Dex saving throw for the rot grub, he'll be infected.
If he follows the barbarian (or the whole group), he can influence the battles they are getting into. Goblins make excellent guerrilla fighters. Sneak in, shot a poisoned arrow from as far away as possible, and sneak out before the focus shifts onto him.
Warn monsters in their path, set traps, poison food stores, rouse wandering monsters and lead them to the group. Interrupt their long rests, steal stuff while they sleep.
And if that's too dangerous for himself, incite others to do it.
Very nice suggestion, unfortunately the sleeping night time stuff, would eb nearly impossible considering the party has a warlock that doesnt sleep with a 20 passive perception, but i will take some of this into consideration. My propblem is that i dont know too much about fun out of the ordinary creatures like the rot grubs to make it strange and exciting.... i need to do more research lol
Well, there goes another monster onto my list of monsters that are far more dangerous than their CR. Sure it has a +0 attack bonus, but one hit and the target will die unless it knows to apply fire and has it handy or someone relatively close has a disease cure ready and knows that that's the solution.
Can the goblin have become a warlock who promised his soul for revenge, or a cleric/paladin of a God of Vengeance?

Im currently messing around with the idea that he sold his soul to a fiend for power, and has set up a trapped dungeon of sorts to prey on the barbarians hatred of fire. (old companion was a wild magic sorcer who, rolled fireball and kille the party session 2). The barbarian also had a relic (ax) from the past that is special to him, he lost it recently so im also considering having the Goblin come into possesion of it.

I need to do more reasearch to find other creatures with dumb abilities unfortunately the part itself is very well equipped to deal with threats of the poision/disease nature thanks to their paladin.
The Barbarians tribe was destroyed, and he lived in the mountains above the forest were he encountered one of his previous companions (halfling sorcerer). The stories first big bad was one that was tied to the halfling, it was a night hag that had escaped just barely.
The halfling will have been captured by the hag and brought up to the village where the barbarian is being lured to. I am turning the forementioned barbarians village into a trap palooza, with fire elementals, demons and shadow fell creatures. If the party survives they will be flung into a trap dungeon ( planning to make it along the lines of a saw style torture dungeon). Ill do my best to split them up and what not using spell traps created by the hag and warlock goblin.
Depending on what precisely you're planning on doing with those goblin's warlock levels, you could have a lot of fun with Hexblade (given that it's often tied to the Shadowfell as well as to magic weapons, according to XGTE), especially if they're around 10th level or higher, seeing as to the fact that roughly 50% of the attacks of their little curse victim miss automatically (thus circumventing the luck of the Barbarian), if my memory serves me correctly. In addition to that, the goblin can deal quite a bit of damage with the other benefits from being a Hexblade, making for a very even combat when it comes to one-on-one. If Hexblade isn't an option, then you could just go with Fiend Patron, seeing as to the access to damage resistances and the Hurl Through Hell ability (which circumvents the resistances of the Totem of the Bear). The only problem you might run into is getting the Barbarian alone, but with the right traps and tricks, it shouldn't be hard.

Oooh, Intellect Devourer... those are great, too.
A bunch of Shadows is also quite dangerous.

Just to update you who are helping.

I appreciate the help, ive decided on a rather large dungeon thats designed seperate the party and test them mentally physically and emotionally
This setup sounds a lot like Splugoth the Returned...
