I was DM'ing a campaign and they started out in a town. You know what they did next? Help the people? No! Do A quest? No! They weakened the wall and made a alliance with a bugbear and are now attacking a helpless town. I LOL'ed so much that session.
Like, once the bugbears take out the town, might they not turn on the party? I mean, they are chaotic evil, after all. They would not have any loyalty to the PCs or feel like they "owe" them. And with the town wiped out that might put the party in a pretty rough spot, with no one to turn to for help.
Also, even if the party and the bugbears part ways, the town is gone -- where does the party go to get supplies? Next town over, perhaps... But they might find it and all the other towns around there locked up tight, walls guarded, gates barred, guards at the ready, after hearing what happened to the neighboring town.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
But, I kind of want the bugbear and the party to be allies. that cou,d set up fun battles, and I was thinking about setting up a mechanic for the bugbear loafing around until a certain point

You do what's fun for your group. It sounds like people are having fun, and getting a Bugbear ally sounds cool. I'm sure as the game progresses you'll come up with all sorts of cool things for the players to do. Maybe they find the bugbear clan and lead them to destroy all the towns and conquer the lands for themselves!!
A good thing to do is to think about how the towns will react, how the local lords will react. They can provide lots of other things for the players to go up against.
I gosh. i just played another session, and the started to attack the town, they busted down the walls and found some commoners, the bugbear immediately blew one of their heads off while the only member of the party who didn't want to kill anyone, one-hit a commoner, and was sad for the rest of the session. not only that but the town master came out of the town hall and started one hit KO-ing the party and first targeted the little dwarf that was carrying a big chest, a war hammer, and some bag-pipes. then the good character realized what they were doing, and decided to reason with town master and rolled a Nat 1. (me as DM is laughing by now.) the town master then gets so mad and gets a extra turn and attacks the only good character and rolls a nat 20. the good player then shut up. then the dragon-born decided to go with his instincts and bite the town masters vocal cords out, but only bloodied him. Then it was his turn, and he rolled a Nat 20 on his attack roll, and nearly kills the dragon-born. at this point the players were making remarks that these CPU's were gods. But overall it was a funny, and fun session.

Remember, not every defeat for the party needs to be a TPK. Maybe after incapacitating the party, your town master shackles them up in the dungeon and either they have to try and escape, or the town master has them work off the damage they've done to the town maybe by doing missions for them. Your campaign doesn't necessarily have to be over after this, especially now that your players have learned a valuable lesson about actions having consequences.
I didn't say they lost. they actually killed him. I was just stating that it was a tough battle for them. (also not all of them were One hit KO ed) but thanks for the advice
You should make them fugitives and on the run. Evil characters are fun to DM, and when they complain you can just say that it's all their fault for being evil.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Sounds like you have a evil party campaign on your hands. They can be fun, but often the novelty wears off after a while.
Enjoy it while you can before they kill you next :-)

Evil parties can be fun if you are prepared and open to the idea.
There should be a consequence, though. Maybe the lord of the region learns of this, and sends an army of knights to wipe them and the bugbears out?

There could be other consequences.

Give the players what they want.
I imagine the Bugbear as a minion of a much more powerful entity. This could go places.
GOOD LUCK!
This sounds like a good get rich quick scheme, and then become fugitives and wanted.
After your party got the riches, fight with the bugbear for the loot.
Go underground, in the caves.
Do an underdark campaign, strike up bargains, maybe find out some other evil creatures to convince to collab.
Maybe the next big hit will be a big city.
The alignment of the PCs slowly changes to Evil, as more riches are presented, and they get hungry for power.
Soon they will find out that justice exist.
Do some prison break scenarios.
Have some intrigue, deception, stealth, hiding of traces, hiding the bodies.
Go ham.
Darkest Dungeon-like DnD Insanity System
Let's put a meter to that foolish bravery, for both you and the NPCs.
(and help give the INT stat more uses)
I just might do that!

In my experience, you only ever want to have an evil party one time, so they learn the benefits to being good.
