Not sure if this should be here or in-game mechanics.
ANYWAY. I am looking at picking up one of those plastic round AOE markers for my players to use. In doing some looking around they all seem to be based on being set up on the crossing of two grid lines and not centered inside one of the squares where their character would actually be. My question is how many of you use those markers and are they really beneficial? If you do use them I'd like to know which ones you have had the best luck with.

The grid rules in the DMG instruct you to place the effect in a grid intersection, though it's implied that's intended for spells that originate from a point in space. If the caster is the origin, using a corner is awkward. Either way, you wouldn't place it at the center of their space, it'd be somewhere along the edges.

I can't recommend any products because I play on Roll20. I do use templates though, it speeds up the process of figuring out who gets hit by a spell.

Ah, well this could have been avoided if I just read the DMG. ha, thanks!
