Looking for some ideas for interesting quests/encounters and puzzles for a party traversing through a fantasy undead city to fight a necromancer!
Theres an undead cult that worship the necromancer inside the city and "good" undead npc's in the surrounding villages!
The party have so far returned a skeketons leg that got stolen by a dog. Cleared out a barn with some unfriendly zombie chickens inside. Helped a soldiers ghost return his lost remains to his family crypt. Cleared a "haunted house" out for a ghost child. And helped a graverobber find a new job.
A door, too heavy to be lifted, can only be lifted if a group of zombies on the other side pulls on chains. Unfortunately, the zombies will immediately smell the flesh and try to attack characters that aproach the door. They can't attack, but they won't pull on the chains either. The players need some way to force the zombies to move away from the door in order to enter (for instance Turn Undead)
Two ghosts playing an eternal game of [insert board game here; dragonchess?]. For hundreds of years they continue to Draw, and neither can "move on" until there's a winner. Not a combat encounter, but a social one (will the players help one or the other cheat? convince one or the other to make a "mistake" which let's the other win?)
A child ghost plays Hide and Seek, their hiding place of choice is to possess a creature, if the players successfulyl find her she gives them a clue about where to find a secret entrace to the necromancers inner sanctum.

Two ghosts playing an eternal game of [insert board game here; dragonchess?]. For hundreds of years they continue to Draw, and neither can "move on" until there's a winner. Not a combat encounter, but a social one (will the players help one or the other cheat? convince one or the other to make a "mistake" which let's the other win?)
The player(s) come across room with a walking zombie(s) wearing a perfect replica of their equipment. If the players try to attack the creature, they'll find out it perfectly mirrors their movements. And if that zombie is damaged, the player it is mimicking is damage.
Please note that the zombies ability (being able to roll for constitution to see if I will stay up with one hp) will not be active during the puzzle.
The objective to the puzzle is to use your zombie to get through the traps and monsters that require to be beaten in unison within the dungeon. Once the task is completed, the zombie is then turns to dust and the players are given a special item for completing the puzzle.
If the player is incapacitated, as a direct attack to them, the zombie would be freed from the spell that bound it to the player, and can freely do as it wishes.
