thinking of using this book as a basis for a new group ,is anyone currently making any story arcs or have some good ways to start off their story? id love if anyone would share their ideas
Trying to track down an artifact, such as the Whip of Erebos or Spear of Heliod, is always a decent quest. They could be hired to find it, commanded by a deity, or need to find it before the villain does. Start the story with each character having a piece of a map to its last known location... perhaps they all see this artifact in their dreams or visions.

One thing to mention the book has a pre-made adventure to run as well as a whole chapter on creating Thero adventures. There is a nice section that outlines each god and their champion quests.
For example, Atheros mythic section has:
Athreos Athreos’s Champions Athreos’s Villains Athreos as Campaign Villain Underworld Crossing Underworld Crossing Adventures Underworld Crossing Map Underworld Crossing Villains
This is just one of twelve mythic in the book with similar content. I feel the book will really help you with a starter adventure to build off.
So, Theros is all about Greek Mythology, epic quests, and stuff along this topic. So, Greek Mythology is a diverse subject. There are many different tales and legends associated with Greek Mythology. Many of the stories are centered around heroes that are the children/champions of the gods. The gods also meddle, and a lot. Like, the cause a war that destroys another nation just because you want someone to say you're pretty, meddling (source: Trojan War).
I would start out a campaign with some sign from the gods, anywhere between 1 and 3 gods. They could be working together to accomplish a similar task, or they could give the players 3 different options to go down. For example, say the 3 gods were Iroas, Ephara, and Purphoros. The quest for them working together could be finding a place to make a new Polis in a specific region of Theros, a warlike city of discipline, learning, invention, and battle strategy. Iroas would inspire the players to conquer whomever previously lived in that land, Ephara could inspire them to create a code of law for the city, and Purphoros could command them to invent aqueducts and more revolutionary inventions to make life in this land be better. They could get this quest from an oracle, maybe at the start of the adventure as the first scene, or maybe it's recommended later.
That is if the gods were to work together. What if they were to try to work against each other? So, maybe the adventure starts with the players going to an oracle, and the Oracle being possessed by the spirit of the 3 gods, which say their quests in turn, and the Oracle tells them to choose one, and only one. Purphoros's quest could be to find a forge run by a group of Cyclopes, and slay them, take the forge, and bring the inventions and magic items back to Meletis. Iroas could order them to go attack a band of Leonin and conquer some of their lands. Ephara's quest could be to overthrow a leader of government in one of the Poleis, as they lost favor with Ephara.
You could always start an adventure around building piety. Run some quests to support the local church of whatever god your player(s) want to curry favor with. As their piety builds, they gain greater insight into the deeper workings of the church, and the complexities of their gods' relationships to the world. Eventually, they can get caught up in battles between gods, or you could introduce an exterior force that all the gods are uniting against. Seems like as good a use as any to use the new piety mechanic to build an adventure hook around. It would certainly motivate the players, as some of the piety powers are pretty rad.

Does any of this help?
