I'm about to start running a small 5e group (for the first time) and I wanted the players to have free rein as far as character selection. We wound up with a fairly squishy party. While I hope for them to use their cunning to avoid many conflicts, there will invariably be combat. To help them start in a slightly better position, I said they could each take a starting Feat at level one, and forfeit their level four Feat. In converting the characters I came to realize DND Beyond has no (obvious?) way to do this.. Apart from taking the Feat back, is there a workaround? Homebrew race (same race, extra feat),? Homebrew item? Are there any easy options that I'm missing? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
ThatDarnBear - I think it’s worth noting that a bonus feat is a good workaround for a squishy party...if you’re definitely not wanting to squish them. The beauty of D&D is that it’s your group's game, do what you gotta do...hell, do what you wanna do. :)

Heya.

That's a fairly dramatic thread title!
D&D Beyond absolutely can do this.
On the character sheet, select the features section, then the feats section within it. Click on manage feats. Add the feat you want.

"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
That's way more elegant than my approach. I just give my players a custom item with a feat built into it.
Dramatic, yes...but look how quickly I got the information! Thanks a lot, Stormknight!
Thanks for the attempt! At least I'm not the only one that considered that particular workaround.
