So as a mostly new DM, on a budget(can't buy a campaign book), I want to ask for some ideas on a campaign I'm doing, basicly the world is a midevil apocalyptic state, an evil half magic half disease has ravaged the land, turning humanoids into creatures of darkness, basically zombies, exactly different kinds, like ones that use magic, giants, and ones that look and act human, the reason for this is an other worldy being with an unknown motive, the campaign is at its first stages so, I just wanted to ask around for some ideas for this campaign.

Marvarax andSora (Dragonborn) The retired fighter and WIP scholar - Glory
Brythel(Dwarf), The dwarf with a gun - survival at sea
Jaylin(Human), Paladin of Lathander's Ancient ways - The Seven Saints (Azura Claw)
Urselles(Goblin), Cleric of Eldath- The Wizard's challenge
Viclas Tyrin(Half Elf), Student of the Elven arts- Indrafatmoko's Defiance in Phlan
Sounds like your BBEG is gonna be a god of undeath. Look to Orcus, the Demon Prince of Undead, for some inspiration in what kind of being could cause a disease like that. Liches would be another good arch nemesis for a campaign like that, and maybe be easier to defeat than a god/demon.
Otherwise, you probably need to answer questions you havn't asked yet. How long ago did the plague start? Did the kindoms of the time fall, or did some of them persevere. How did each race handle it? (Dwarves could've sealed their tunnels and isolated themselves from the outside world, elves may have plane shifted away or have found magic that keeps the inflicted at bay) What do clerics claim their gods have said to them on the subject, and what new orders of paladin have risen to fight the darkness. If the disease is magical, what are arcanists doing to research a cure? Is necromancy more accepted and used to aid in this cure, or is it even more taboo now? What extra precautions would a player take to keep themselves from being cursed/infected? I could go on, but those questions will naturally breed more than enough for you.
your world sounds similar in basic concept to one I'm currently running. in my world, an area of continent has experienced several zombie apocalypses, leaving much of it devoid of sentient life. the campaign has largely been an open world exploration campaign with some big dungeons and some smaller ones. some came from pre-written stuff like Yawning Portal, others I just turned a location into some sort of deathtrap. I eventually made my big bad a trio of Lovecraftian type elder gods. I also included zombie kaiju because kaiju.
