I have a sorcerer character who is one of the Belviews from Curse of Strahd, for which I would like to create a spell that appeals to their backstory.
The idea is to have a spell that can temporarily transform a target into a mongrelfolk with physical boons at the cost of social revilement. It sits somewhere between the utility of Alter Self and Polymorph. [Rough Draft: Spoilered Below]
A variant that I had considered was to have the target's arms and/or legs physically transform into the respective animalistic appendage, which could be used to force an opponent to drop their weapon/shield, while letting them retain a weapon attack option. This would make it more balanced between buff and debuff.
You touch a creature, and that creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or becomes hideously transformed for the duration of the spell. A willing creature can choose to fail this saving throw. When you cast this spell, choose the nature of the mutation from the following options:
Flesh of Air
Gain: 30ft Fly Speed
Gain: Keen Sight/Hearing
Gain: Natural Weapon [Talons]
Flesh of Land
Gain: 50ft Walking Speed
Gain: Keen Scent
Gain: Natural Weapon [Claws]
Flesh of Sea
Gain: 30ft Swim Speed
Gain: Amphibious
Gain: Natural Weapon[Bite]
Flesh of Soil
Gain: 15ft Burrow Speed
Gain: Tremorsense 20ft
Gain: Natural Weapon [Bite]
While under the effects of this spell, targets have disadvantage on Charisma(Persuasion) checks.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4rd level or higher, you can affect one additional creature for each level above 3rd.

Nice spell! Here are a few additions for the spell.
You have disadvantage on all persuasion, deception, and performance checks, and advantage on all intimidation checks.
Flesh of Air: (You have advantage on all perception checks relying on sight and hearing. Add damage dice for natural weapon)
Flesh of Land: (You have advantage on all perception checks relying on sight and smell. Add damage dice for natural weapon)
Flesh of Sea: (You can breath both air and water. Add damage dice for natural weapon)
Flesh of Soil (Add damage dice for natural weapon)
My only good homebrews: Races, Subclasses.
An aspiring DM and Homebrewer. Ask me if you need anything.
Thanks for the feedback!
