Hey guys come check out my homebrew race the Grikor. The Grikor are big reptilian humanoids who invoke blood rage to keep fighting against all odds! They are a fully fleshed out race with many interesting traits. They are inspired by the Krogan from the mass effect series, and look more or less the same. These hulks are not limited to being big angry brutes they have the potential for nearly any class. Try them out and let me know what you think, I hope you like them as much as I do!
6 = Blood Rage (better than Relentless Endurance as long as you're carrying a potion of healing, and even better than that if you can heal yourself with a bonus action or cast a healing spell.)
1 = Can go weeks without food or water
1 = Can't die from exhaustion (I don't think this is likely to come up?)
2 = Can go 1-5 days without sleep, depending on CON modifier
4 = proficiency with light, medium, and heavy armor (worth less than normal because of the natural AC)
-1 = require custom armor
1 = 1d4 natural weapon
For 45 total. That's almost twice as powerful as the average race (25). If you want Grikor to be balanced, you'll need to think about which abilities they don't need to have.
Other notes:
Grikor don't have a speed (I'm assuming 30 feet?)
I'm unsure if the rules can handle one character taking a turn in the middle of another character's turn. (Blood Rage)
Hey there. First I thank you for your feedback, anything is appreciated as I continue to work on this race as best as I can alone. To address your issues:
-the movement speed is 25ft -2
-the blood rage works great, I have playtested it myself and it works very well. The only thing I could see that would break rules here is if you are play adv league (which homebrew is not usually legal) or an online version of the game, besides this fact the effect is only once per day anyway and requires you to die. Situational abilities should be souped up or there is no point in having them.
-I can easily (and actually will after this) remove the proficiency with armors, its kinda pointless anyway and players can choose a class or feat to solve the problem themselves if they like. -4
-intimidation can go -2
-no food or water thing can go -1
-I have reworked the AC to both show the Grikor's resilience and for balance. Unarmored AC will now be 12+con (no dex). This actually seems more reasonable. -7
These changes bring the score down to 31, 5 points of which are very situational. I hope this helps bring the race down to a more balanced level. As I said in the first post these guys are based on the horrifically overpowered krogan, when I made this race I had already nerfed them into the dirt but I guess they needed another 6ft down. As far as the stupid genital thing goes, that is a remnant of when the race started out as an actual krogan race, it is a small sentence which adds character to the krogan, but doesn't need to be part of my race. I will remove the sentence from the page in version 2.2 which should be posted by the end of the day tomorrow. Once again I thank you for your feedback. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
