I'm working on writing an adventure set in the plane of Pandemonium in a sprawling maze of narrow tunnels with extreme howling winds and everything you could expect from the deliciousness that is Pandemonium or Limbo, whichever people would prefer (but I love Pandemonium). I'm going to be using this as a planning thread and a wish list thread for those of you that would be interested in contributing to the adventure as a whole in terms of suggesting what you'd like to see in the adventure. That way, this is a collaborative effort on behave of those who decide to take part on this beautiful site.
Currently, I'm looking at this:
An adventure for 4-6 players at around 8th Level and could probably be completed in around 2-3 sessions. It would feature milestone leveling but could easily be changed into the experience system and be easily dropped into any campaign.
I'll be introducing a new homebrewed player race into this adventure. The Acanthian which are humanoid fiend like creatures which is what the main antagonist for the adventure is. They are slightly taller than humans and their skin takes on a pebbled texture and ashen white in colour. Their eyes appear as vertical slits and their mouths are lined with small, razor sharp fangs. Their legs are more reptilian in appearance and end in one sickle-shaped claw similar to Velociraptors. They hail from Pandemonium and should be a pretty fun race for people to dive into.
Going to be making some fun Magic Items solely for this adventure too, specifically a really fun wand that is a more chaotic version of the Wand of Wonder. Think of the Deck of Many Things but in wand form.
Heavy use of the Madness mechanics found in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
A somewhat tricky fiend-like entity known as Delriniath and is the main villain of the adventure and is more into messing with the players then outright killing them. Think along the lines of Sheogorath from the Elder Scrolls franchise. I'm thinking of having it look like some sort of nightmarish Jester of sorts who can appear randomly whenever the DM chooses to throw a little curveball at the players, his whole purpose is he's bored and brought the adventurers into the labyrinth he created to ease his boredom and see what could happen. He is a homebrewed fiend race I created known as the Masked which you can read about above.
The labyrinth itself would contain small settlements of previous adventurers who have gotten lost in the maze and realized they'll probably never see the light of day again.
And since there isn't much information about Pandemonium out there, there's going to be some homebrewed creatures as well. One such creature are nightmarish, massive slugs that can be quite...maddening.
That's about it right now! I'll be updating this thread when people give me good suggestions and wishes. Those added will be credited when I publish the adventure.
I think the adventure should start near one of these old settlements on the first level of Pandemonium, Pandesmos. This settlement contains the corpses of the a group of cartographers. When the PC's check these bodies, they find vague notes that serve as a guide to the beginning of the adventure. The PC's are now attacked after their exploration.
I also recommend using a Howling Dragon (which seems to be one of the few native monsters of Pandemonium.) This dragon could be working with the villain

Hi. I'm a 14 year old student looking to play D&D. If you don't have a problem with me, I would gladly join your session!
The Murska are native to Pandemonium. From what I've read, it's a pack-hunting "beetle" that can actually become more intelligent by devouring intelligent prey, and it's appearance is actually based on whatever it last ate, which it molts off like a shell as it becomes hungry. Perhaps have a group of them disguised as lesser threats or something harmless, only to to reveal themselves as they prepare to gorge on your adventurers? Or perhaps feature a more intelligent specimen that is willing to work with the villain in exchange for more intelligent prey to feast upon, something that grants it's beetle-like form a grotesque, humanoid appearance?
The Labyrinth could go across all the layers of Pandemonium, since it is very morphic and if this jester has enough power, he could morph the layers into his labyrinth.
n the Second Layer of Pandemonium called Cocytus, there are two distinct locales that could be worked in: Howler's Crag and The Unseen Path.
Howler's Crag has a pile of rocks in the center of it as if a fortress had collapsed on itself. Rumor has it that if you stand on top of the pile, any message you shout will be carried off on the winds (the howling winds that Pandemonium is known for) to its intended recipient, no matter where in the multiverse they are.
The Unseen Path is a section of tunnels laid with cobblestones that is entirely shrouded by the effects of permanent deeper darkness magic. If you can walk the entire path you get improved hearing and darkvision for a year, but the difficulty is that unlike the rest of the plane, the pathway has fixed gravity and twists and turns in the darkness, meaning a missed step could cause you to "fall" into the ceiling or a wall, spoiling your progress and forcing you to start again.
The third layer is calledPhlegethon. Unlike most of Pandemonium, you can't run on walls or ceilings because it has fixed gravity. The water flows differently and the winds are not as strong. There is a constant dripping of water that has created several weird cave structures. Light and Heat are also reduced, due to the rocks of this layer absorbing it. Spells that illuminate areas and things like darkvision would then be reduced to half of their normal reach. This makes this layer very cold, which can work as another hindrance the party must face.
The final layer, Agathion, does not have tunnels and winding paths like the rest of the lairs. Instead there are bubbles of space the party has to avoid because they are not linked to each other or the plane. The jester could have his lair in this layer of Pandemonium, maybe even in one of the bubbles.
I also have a suggestion made by Reddit User C-Bake on a thread that asked what to feature in an adventure set in Pandemonium. C-Bake suggested that any spell-caster magic would have wild magic in Pandemonium because of the chaotic nature of the plane. Now any magic cast could go horribly wrong.

Holy shit. Yes. The Wild Magic idea is fantastic.
I feel like this short adventure is going to turn into an adventure module akin to Curse of Strahd, haha.

Pretty good. Just stating out the creatures and NPCs that will be encountered and then moving on to writing the meat of the adventure and then looking for artists to do the art for the new creatures, old creatures, etc.

According to the wiki, bugbears in some shape or form should be plentiful in Pandemonium. As it states, the spirits of the most merciless bugbears are sent there, and perhaps either they reform something akin to physical bodies and/or maintain spectral forms.

Gnolls, Trolls and Orges may be plenty due to the fact that many tribes of these races worship Erythnul, the god of slaughter. In fact, you could put just about anyone who worshiped Erythnul.
He has a realm in Pandemonium called the Citadel of Slaughter.

I love this adventure idea. I want to make a planar adventure myself.
Seeing as I just got the DMG today (yay!), I have some base info of the plains, so I think maybe an adventure set in Canceri would be neat. Maybe in that adventure the PC's get caught up in some conflict and have to escape this prison plane.
Canceri has several different locales, like deserts, jungles, and ice filled areas. It would be interesting becuase the DMG has an optional rule that you can impliement to make it impossible to leave using conventional methods.

Yeah, I've thrown in a neat additional ruling on what happens in the PCs try to leave Pandemonium (well, the labyrinth that has appeared where they're trapped) before solving the riddles and mysteries that are keeping them trapped there, and it's not very nice to say the last.

Quasits, shadow demons and the occasional Demon lord can be found in Pandemonium.
