I have a narrative thread in my campaign where a character has been partially turned into a vampire spawn. I have come up with a collection of progressive "feats" which will manifest themselves as the story progresses (to further complicate things, I've made it so the character is unaware of this partial turning having happened to them and have chosen to manage the feats from the "behind the screen" until such time as the character is able to put all of the clues together or have their Vampire Sire reveal themselves to them--whichever happens first). The The PC has the option to seek out the counter curse once they are aware of it, so I need a way to make all of these curse effects go away if they choose to do that. (Of course, they could find that their new set of "powers" is awesome and just stay this way, but I need to know how to make all of those possibilities happen on the character sheet.)
I originally thought I would add this as a character subclass, but I realized that removing a subclass from a character sheet is nigh on impossible after it's been selected. So, I nixed that.
In looking into homebrewed feats, I realize that there isn't an easy way to stack them they way that I've organized them in my mind, so I figured I would just go in and homebrew each of the feats individually and add them as necessary. My issues are these: a) some of the lower-level feats would be replaced by different feats as they reach higher levels and, b) I need to be able to remove all of these feats should the character choose to do so.
And, of course, as I was writing all of this, another possible solution occurred to me: If it possible to roll up an "alternate" character sheet for her character using all of her rolled stats, but include all of the homebrewed feats to be presented to her when she discovers the existence of the curse? Is it possible to allow a character to switch back and forth between character sheets in the middle of a campaign?
The further I get into this, the more I see how complicated I may be making this. I've played D&D for a long time, but this is my first campaign I'm running via D&D Beyond. Any help or suggestions on how to make these narrative ideas work? Thanks in advance!
