Would appreciate some help fleshing out a magic item inspired by the episode "The soldier and death" of Jim Henson's Storyteller.
The Sack (Legendary or Artifact): A seemingly normal looking sack. It can contain items larger than itself, just like a bag of holding. It can also hold living creatures without bringing them harm. If a living creature is unwilling, it is told to "get in the sack." Creature makes a high dc CHA or WIS save. If they fail, they go into the sack. A living creature can breathe while inside, as to keep wild game fresh before use. There is no known limit to the Sack's capabilities. It is said to be able to contain elemental forces. ***A very high dc history check reveals the history of the item (to be determined)
For context, in the show a soldier obtains this sack from a traveller for giving away his last food and coin. He then uses it to catch some geese, a devil which is then locked in servitude to him, and even catch death upon visiting a family member at their deathbed. The world goes without death for a while and all are miserable until death is let out. But the sack and the soldier are so feared that not even God dare let him in Heaven or Hell, so he is left immortal on earth.
Basically its a bag of holding with the capability to force creatures inside. But with the idea that it can imprison extraplanar beings, even death, I thought it should be made more powerful and feared.
Its also worth noting that in my homebrew world I'm creating, this item is so feared that all magical items like bags of holding and similar, are confiscated and destroyed in fear that this could happen again.
I was thinking of adding some death defying feature to the attuned user as death would dare not come near the sack again. So maybe advantage on death saves?
Any other ideas?
What would a proper CHA or WIS save dc be for the forced entrapment in the sack?
Another idea is that an unconscious creature can be put into the sack as an action, and be immediately stabilized but still unconscious.
And also maybe making it so that very low intelligence creatures get no save, they automatically go willingly into the sack if commanded.
