I'm just your everyday dungeon master. Ignore that jar full of souls. And those bones in the corner are just props, don't worry. I'm definitely NOT a lich. Definitely.
Yes, I like beholders. Yes, I curated an exquisite personality for commoner #2864. Yes, my catchphrase is "are you sure?"
However, I do notice we got fewer people here than last time. If I might say so, while creating a discord server would limit our reach more than a forum, the same would not be true if the competition was co-opted into an already-active server. I know of a D&D Youtuber's discord server (that of CinderBlocksally) that focuses heavily on the creation and critique of homebrew that might fit the vibes of this competition. People join the server fairly frequently but the community is still small enough and has outstanding users that it feels like a cohesive community. I'm sure a friendly brewing competition wouldn't go amiss there. If anyone else has any other ideas or if we just want to keep going on the D&D Beyond forums, let's discuss.
I think a hybrid approach would work well - either keep it primarily on D&D Beyond and have an associated Discord page for discussion and voting or do everything on Discord but promote the page on D&D Beyond.

I couldn't join this last competition because of how busy I've been. I'm in the process of moving to another country so I just haven't had the time. If moving to a discord server will help this awesome competition thrive then it probably should be done but I'm not on discord (at least not right now) so I couldn't join.

From my perspective, the competitions come "too often" with not enough "build up" in between.
I want to be able to know that a competition is going to start on some date, then see some teasers on the topic leading up to the date before the actual competition time comes. Also the idea of the winner organizing the next competition kind of made me lukewarm to the idea of entering again. I like creating things but not administrative work. A bigger enticement is possibly working with DnDBeyond to incorporate the winning ideas into their official database or in their website articles.
I mean making it a full production with teasers and whatnot seems like a lot of work? which would only disincentivize anyone from wanting to be judge even more than you're saying
Plus collaboration with the D&D Beyond site is highly unlikely

Heck, as far as D&D beyond recognition goes I would be satisfied if a megathread just got pinned to the front page of the Homebrew and House Rules section. Would increase visibility and make it easier to find the threads to review without having to potentially dig through pages looking for it if no one had commented in the last day or two. But, we have been doing these pretty consistently for years, with 28 different entries now, so chances are that ship has sailed.
By the way, although I don't have any real evidence to support it and I'm kinda just spitballing, maybe the whole can't edit OP thing is the spam filter acting up? Specifically since there's now been 28 of the same thread with the only differences being dates, 1 more link in a section each instance, and 2 other sections (1 of which isn't different from the other recent ones because of the problem)

Results will be coming tomorrow! Sorry, I have been quite busy ;-)
The discord idea sounds interesting, maybe we should give it a try? The lower count in participants could also be due to the time of the year?
That could be true; video game playercounts share the same pattern.
