I'm thinking of writing an evil adventure where the PC's play as Chromatic Dragons taking over the Realms. Brief description:
A group of young Chromatic Dragons have let their greed take over and seek to attain full control of the Forgotten Realms, and thus all of the treasure therein. This group of chromatic's have made a pact to aid one another in their conquest. This group is first meeting somewhere on the Sword's Coast and will test their alliance by first attacking a small town. From there their conquest will extend eventually to the great cities such as Neverwinter and Waterdeep and have the eventual goal of conquering all of Toril. They will meet resistance along the way of course, in full cities and alliances fighting against them, Metallic Dragons coming to the aid of those invaded, other Chromatic's getting jealous and trying to usurp them, and eventually the notice of the deities Tiamat and Bahamut.
There are obviously several challenges in writing this adventure: Dragons aren't really a playable race, and are super powerful; level up a dragon and age without spanning centuries of in-game time; giving benefits and choices upon leveling - so adding in extras than what exist already in each dragon description; having worthy opponents to a group of 3-6 dragons; keeping social interactions a thing; etc.
I intend to keep them powerful, and have the party start as Young Dragons. There will be a magical element that is learned about in the story that allows the Dragons to advance (2 levels of young, 2 levels of adult, 2 levels of ancient) in a short amount of in-game time -- so the campaign doesn't spread across centuries. The encounters will be against entire cities with siege weapons, other dragons, and many other things that may come to the aid of the world. Also I intend to find some sort of stat blocks for Tiamat and Bahamut and likely beef them up.
I'm just curious if there would be any interest from the community in playing through this. Also, does anyone know if anything like this already exists (I'm not stealing someone else's idea here, but I also don't want to rewrite something somebody else already came up with).
posted in this thread as I figured it's a "homebrewed" adventure and would require "homebrewed" race/class (in the form of each metallic dragon), but feel free to move this if this is not a proper section to have this thread.
In case it wasn't obvious--which it probably wasn't--I would definitely be interested in playing in that campaign, assuming you were going to do it via Play-by-Post.
