So, I was running Mines of Phandelver with some of my friends. For the trip to Wyvern Tor from Phandalin, my players were planning their rations for the journey. They decided to only get a bit and hunt on the way there. I didn’t really know how to do this at the time, but after improvising, I decided to make my own rules for hunting. Let me know what you guys think about it or if it was helpful.
There are some rules and they're designed to streamline routine things like finding food and water. If anyone in the party has the Outlander background they can automatically find enough food and water to feed 6 people every day without needing to roll for anything. If no one has the Outlander background, there are rules for Foraging in the DMG.
Those will allow a couple of quick rolls during each day of travel to find food and water without worrying about the details so you can focus on the game!

Oh, cool! Thx, I didn’t know all that. That will be usefull!
I do find these house rules pretty cool though. I bet players would enjoy some description and interaction in their foraging/hunting.
I'm going to use this table because hunting is a good side adventure for tomorrow's game.
