I've thrown together some masterwork longswords based on the masterwork system from...2nd Edition, I think? I've always liked masterwork items to give the low-level PCs a special weapon that has some bonuses, as well as characteristics that relate to the race of the weaponsmith who made them. I give them names and use a homebrew version of the old Legacy Items rules so that the sword can become enchanted over time by the heroic deeds of the wielder.
So far I only have the fine and exceptional quality longswords for the elven and human races, but I'd like some feedback on them so far.
they have been made public here. I would guess a search in the Homebrew Magic Items for Fine Weapon or Exceptional Weapon would find them. If not, let me know.
Ah thank you, Sorry, the new homebrew feature is still a novelty for me, and as there were not magical items, I did not think to search magical items for them.
You may wish to notate that the weapons themselves are not magical - though I'm not sure with your elven blades that you are considering them as non-magical or are they with their detection and light shedding ability? if a detect magic is cast - which of these swords would glow?
As a less powerful consideration for such - damage dealt with the exceptional could just reroll any 1's for the damage dice - statistically not a huge 'bump' and then its flavor isn't - "its a +1 weapon, that isn't magical"
Also, Links would likely foster more feedback (as a suggestion)
I have rules for masterwork gear. Nonmagical +1, hideously expensive (10x list price or higher), and not widely available. I like to keep things simple.

@Modnar_Wylde: That re-roll 1s mechanic sounds familiar...like maybe a feat or class feature of some kind? I like it, though. I agree it's a more palatable flavor.

It's the Halfling's Lucky feature.

I disagree with this concept. A masterpiece is made with the same material that a beginner is using. They are just more skilled there for the higher quality. I could see extending the process with a slightly higher cost due to the longer process.

I believe Great Weapon Fighting also has a rerolling of 1's (and 2's I believe) mechanic attached.
