So we're about to do a campaign with CoS and a few of us have homebrew. I've seen online that Strahd and some other parts of CoS seem to be super underwhelming difficulty-wise, even for levels 1-10, with some people completing the campaign even at level 5.
I'd like any advice for amping up the difficulty. Think A Hat In Time: Death Wish Mode but for CoS. Giving Strahd the Blood Hunter's Crimson Court order sounds reasonable but I'm looking for more than just giving mobs classes, like certain situations and encounters that basically force the PCs to freak out and hold on for dear life, and not necessarily combat. Something like being chased into a fire, or climbing the caste walls, or a few Vistani curses, and even a bit of "you're too late" situations would be nice.
As few spoilers as possible please, but any ideas are appreciated.
