I am thinking of running a one shot using Pillars of Eternity Style ability scores where all abilities each have distinct importance. I envision it as follows
Str ability bonus equals a bonus to all damage rolls, magical and martial
Con ability bonus equals a bonus to hitpoints
Dex ability bonus equals a bonus to hit all rolls, magical and martial, as well as a bonus to AC
Int ability bonus equals a saving throws DC bonus for the following magic schools: Conjuration, Evocation, Necromancy & Transmutation
Wis ability bonus equals a saving throws DC bonus for the following magic schools: Abjuration & Divination
Cha ability bonus equals a saving throws DC bonus for the following magic schools: Enchantment & Illusion
No class has a specific casting ability and instead DC's are determined by what spell school you're casting from. The downside is that this takes more work and would not be for a junior party. I stacked intelligence because it's such an underpowered ability. The upside is that it could provoke some interesting and weird characters from players. What do you think? Is there something obvious I'm missing?
