How would you work this? Would you allow one extra dice and discard the lowest, or roll for damage twice and pick the highest?
rolling 4D6 for a damage 3D6 weapon and discarding the lowest would be smoother than rolling 2 lots of 3D6 and picking the better roll, but would also make it less swingy.

Thoruk,
I love that idea for some sort of magical benefit for weapon damage. Instead of making a weapon 2d6, you could make it 1d6 w/adv and roll two dice taking the larger. It is less impactful than 2d6 so it fits into a wider range of upgrades. I am totally going to add this to the mechanics of my game.
I have, for instance, always disliked that there was no difference between a "run of the mill" longsword and a "finely crafted" longsword. Maybe saying the finely crafted weapon rolls with advantage (on the original damage die) would be just the right way of creating a game mechanic to match that.
Thanks and Enjoy your holidays!

Would allowing advantage on the damage of an attack with a natural roll of 19 be balanced?
I have a weird sense of humor.

I didn't think about larger damage rolls. It's a house rule, so you can do it the way you like.
