I'm sorry that you haven't received the data you were looking for. The next time someone is choosing a barb subclass in one my games, I will be sure to flag yours as an option.
On the elite, the testing goes alright, but also very limited. I and a few friends have run several test encounters to test for combat viability/balance, and so far everything to do with that has felt pretty right. Sometimes the subclass shines and does something awesome, and sometimes your best option is to just use attack (as is the case for most fighter subclasses). The only thing I have found so far that might be worthy of change is that your mount is really fragile until really high levels (when you get the martyrdom ability). This kind of forces the player to either be regularly replacing mounts, rezing them, or it requires them to take the more defensive fighting styles and/or mounted combatant feat. But, that might be satisfactory, if there is no way to add some resilience to one's mount that doesn't front load the class to an absurd degree.
My testing has been limited only to those encounters. I lack a larger pool of feedback or playing it in an actual campaign. Ideally I would be able to increase my sample size before making alterations, but I don't know a good way to do that.
Haha, I'm just not that active in big D&D communities nor do I have much DM experience, is all. Both things I could change, obviously, but I haven't so I can't really complain.
And yeah. Mount durability is a right mess. TCE did bring a bunch of scaling summons, though. Maybe that'd be something to look into for inspiration?
That's solid idea. Like, you are skilled at training your steed, so if your steed goes through a level up with you it perhaps get an AC and/or hp bonus? Perhaps when changing to third tier (level 11 or so), your mount can get an ability score increase or speed increase...
It would require some reconfiguration of the existing abilities for the elite, but I will certainly consider it.
