As the group departs Valas stashes the sack full of what he assumes to be personal items belonging to someone in Greenest. He will return then if he can. Walking near Sir Evendur's horse he advises the prisoners in draconic in a friendly tone "I would behave as they suggest." "If they wanted to kill you, they would have, and they will if you try anything. This way you will soon be free."
(Kendes can carry the scimitars if Valas isn't. He's not picking up any more sling stones, though. Is there any way to scramble up the sides of these rock formations before they get too high?)
Kendes slows down. "We should try to be stealthy,"he says, looking at the rock formations. "This looks like the perfect place for an ambush."
"Thank you my friend. Perhaps you could find a place to watch from on high, but stay close, and hidden." Valas sends his owl off again, hoping his flight patterns aren't too obvious to anyone watching.
Valas nods at Kendes about being stealthy and gets ready to try to approach under cover, perhaps circling around through the rocks a bit, to see who is waiting for them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I'll stay back as well," Kosef says. He tends to arrive late but with a splash. He'll twist his hands tight around the handle of his sword and begin listening for any sounds of an ambush: Perception 12
Kendes and Valas manage to spot some people hiding in the rocks, and the people do not seem to have noticed them.
OOC: Squares are 5ft. You are coming from the north/top of the map. Valas and Kendes have surprise if they want to attack, but Evendur and Kosef will be too late to participate.
Valas pulls out his bow and tries to signal to Kendes that they could attack from afar, potentially forcing the enemy to come to them where in theory Sir Evendur and Kosef could intercept. If Kendes agrees, Valas will also try to signal back to Kosef and Evendur a count of their foes using his fingers, his intent to fire at range by pointing at to his bow, etc.
(Open to suggestions here, for us much as our characters could communicate.)
Kendes signals his agreement to Valas, though he points at his spear, indicating that he's likely going to try to go into a melee attack against the closest one. He puts his trust in the elf to communicate his intentions to the others.
(Kendes would like to attack, backtrack, and plans to hopefully get off a fog cloud in the second round. I'd like him to try and attack the bandit in B14 if everyone is ok with this plan. Since they haven't seen us yet, I'll hold off on rolling attacks / initiative until Kosef and Evendur get their say though.)
"I say, brave Kosef, did you catch those signals, I lost count at two I´m afraid." Evendur will react to any sounds of fighting trying to join battle if he can.
(OOC: Yes, unless they also have long ranged weapons Valas´arrows might draw them out of those cliffs which would probably be to our advantage. How are they armed and how high up are they btw?)
OOC: Kendes and Valas can roll perception to get a better look at the humans, but they see that most of the humans have spears. The cultists, and Kendes and Valas are about 15 ft off the ground.
"Evendur, I think there are nine. Valas, I think, will be attacking at range. Not sure about Kendes." He puts one hand on his crossbow for a moment before reaching back to his sword. "I've got to broaden my skills," he says, mostly to himself. He continues listening for the sounds of battle and will run toward them as soon as he hears them.
Kendes examines the bandits. It seems like the blond one (in E14) has a crossbow, and two of the nine have no spears or ranged weapons at all (J3 and L15).
Valas readies his shot, aiming for the crossbowman if he notices that the blonde man is the only man armed as such. Otherwise he'll just aim for the closest foe.
Attack: 22 Damage: 7
(I forgot to ask since I'm not used to tracking ammo. Can Valas attempt to retrieve the two arrows from the previous fight? (I should probably go back and verify that number.))
Kendes will stick to his plan and attack the closest bandit before retreating (in B14). He would press the attack further to the crossbow-wielding one if he downed the first one in one hit, and still retreat back towards Evendur, Kosef, and Valas if the crossbow man was still standing. He would *not* retreat if it was the spearman in B14 (basically, willing to take an improvised weapon AOO from the blonde crossbow wielder, but not willing to take a spear AOO from the other guy)
Kendes attacks swiftly, and is able to kill one of the humans with his spear. He then attempts to punch the blond man, who laughs at his miss.
Valas fires an arrow at the same man, and manages to pierce his armor. The man makes an angry noise.
Kosef and Evendur hear the sounds of fighting up ahead.
OOC: Valas can attempt to retrieve the arrows. They are still in good condition. Also, for Kendes, I only mentioned the crossbow to give special ranged weapon details. The crossbow man also has a sword. Feel free to alter your plan with this knowledge. Also, the people without spears are armed with clubs.

"What is it Xymor?" asks the elf.

Kendes slows down. "We should try to be stealthy," he says, looking at the rock formations. "This looks like the perfect place for an ambush."
"Move stealthily you say." Evendur says a bit too loud. "Yes, I think a will stay back a bit then. I will come charging in as soon as you need me."
Xymor telepathically communicates having seen raiders hide in a rock formation like the one being approached.
Kendes sees that there are places where fallen rocks and shorter formations could allow someone to climb up higher.
OOC: Feel free to roll stealth checks if you want to be sneaky, but no check needed to climb up the rocks.
