"Yes brave Kendes, I agree that building a defense would be to our advantage, but if we stay inside the raiders may still just decide to burn the mill down, and us with it. I´m afraid we must make our stand outside the mill, but some defenses might still be helpful if you have any suggestions. I must admit that kind of advanced tactics never was my strong suit. Come to think of it I have never really grasped the concept of tactics very well at all, but my faith in Torm is strong and he has guided me thus far."
Another perception with the help action from Kendes:20 (OOC:Thanks)
The raiders do not have anything of value. Kosef is able to find the sheath that went with the dagger. It is made of leather with a dragon design.
The old man takes the weapons from Kendes. "Thank you. I hope I don't need them, though. I've had my share of fighting for the night." When Kendes starts asking him about his son, he replies, "My son is thirty-five, and he has short brown hair and a beard. I last saw him heading here for work."
There are no people in the mill besides the dead raiders, the old man, and the group. Evendur also notices that the mill wheel was never disengaged, and that the only traces of blood are from the fight that just happened.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hm, I´m not sure but my guess is that your son and the rest of the millers evacuated in time, hopefully you will be reunited once we get back to the keep. You can stay here for now old man, I will go outside and look for those guards the Governor was to send here" Evendur moves outside with shield and torch to watch for raiders or any guards from the keep.
"Well, there's no trying, and I believe Torm asks us to bring the faith alive by taking the initiative sometimes," Kendes replies, getting to work. He begins to build a mini barricade in front of the mill using the spears and shields provided helpfully by the bandits. "Hopefully a few of us will be able to fortify our positions here if someone else attacks,"he mumbles while working diligently.
(If that doesn't take up all of Kendes' activity, he'd pause from time to time glance around, assess his surroundings, and try to help anyone keeping watch.)

Kosef will help Kendes set up the barricades. He makes sure they are as well guarded as possible. He will watch for activities and movement around the mill as well: Perception 2
Realizing he´s not much of a scout either Evendur turns to the mill. "Valas, Kipio could you keep a lookout."Then he does his best to help Kendes and Kosef with the barricade, hopefully getting clear instructions on which way to point those spears.
No raiders approach the mill. After ten minutes of watching and building barricades twelve slightly bloody guards arrive. One of them walks over, and says, "Governor Nighthill sent me to relieve you. You've done good work, but we'll take over the mill's defense now. You can head on back to the keep. You had better be careful though. There's lots of raiders still out there."

"Good of you to come, the mill is secured, we have prepared a defensive post here, there is still some armour and weapons inside the mill brought here by the raiders, use them if you need them, the raiders won´t mind."Evendur says to the guards "And Torm bless you for your bravery and loyalty, we will return to the keep and defeat that dragon. Then the raiders will surely flee back to their hideout." Persuasion to keep morale up with the arriving guards:11 (Rolled with advantage if given the help action, otherwise 19)
Then Evendur turns to the companions. "Brave companions, this night is not over yet, we should get back to the keep as fast as possible the same way we came here. Valas, Kendes and Kipio, you will be our eyes on the ground. Valas, let us know if Xymor spots any raiders on our way back."Evendur then readies himself for another trek through the reeds, his boots still sploshing with water.
Kosef thinks he is being watchful, but the group of twelve guards still startles him.
He says, "Yes, the dragon was headed toward the keep the last time I saw it. Once it is dead," he swallows, nervous at saying this out loud, "We will have kept our promise to the Governor completely."
He wonders about Lionsin, but there hasn't been any sign of the monk. He'll keep looking, however, as they move through the town.
"We also built you a barricade,"Kendes says simply, pointing at the barricade, and thus, helping Evendur's words carry their weight.
As the party considers traveling back, Kendes briefly stops everyone.
"Are we going to try to move back quietly, or make ourselves a target and try to take out more raiders? As much as I enjoy helping the townsfolk, I think we got fairly lucky in avoiding a bloody battle at this mill. I vote for stealth, no matter which route we take... that way if we do run into trouble, we can get the jump on them."
"Yes brave Kendes, clearly stealth has served us well this night, I agree, we should avoid the raiders if possible and save our strength for the battle with the dragon"Evendur says plainly and does his best to sneak back through the reeds. (Stealth if needed:12 normal roll because of reeds and armour)
"I'm too ungraceful or unskilled or unsomething to speak very well, but I think you're right, Kendes," Kosef says. "I will try and move as quietly as I can. Surprise is valuable." He will move along with the others, earnestly trying not to stumble and trying to keep trying: 5.
"I wish there was a way to oil or pad my chainmail," he says.

Kipio looks up feeling a sense of urgency regarding his noisy companions. "Have any of you tried being shorter? It is easier to hide behind things that way," he says in a joking tone. Kipio will be as quiet as he can entering the reeds, and will try to spot where the dragon currently is.
Kendes nods in agreement, and tries to walk (or swim) silently, as the group retraces its steps. He scouts for danger as well, keeping an eye out for more raiders.
Kosef crouches, draws his shoulders up, ducks his head. He knows Kipio is joking, but tries anyway. Down among the reeds, he tries to step carefully, but when he does his shoulders catch and snap small dry tree limbs. When he watches his shoulders, his feet splash. "Ugh," he thinks, eyeing the sky: Perception 9
"I agree brave Kosef, I´ve never noticed before just how clanky my armour is. But being shorter won´t help with that brave Kipio." Evendur comments smiling on the way back to the keep.
"Oh and brave Valas, we all know you are just too modest for such a statement, and still you will run your slender elven blades through it´s soft underbelly when the time comes."
"Perhaps in a few centuries"remarks Valas quietly and to no one in particular. For a moment he ponders all of the years he has put into training with the blade, the arcane and many other elven traditions, and just how many more times over he'll have to study with the same discipline to achieve a synergy of magic and might that would let him survive more than a few seconds against a dragon, even with help.
"You don't get to chose whether you're here to defeat a dragon or not, if the dragon decides it wants to defeat you. You win, or you die,"Kendes says quietly to Valas when he overhears the conversation, still intent on his surroundings. "I'd rather not fight a dragon either, but that one up there isn't giving us much of a choice. Even if we fled, it could catch up to us easily and attack us, if that was its fancy. And considering how many of its plans we've already ruined, I've no doubt it would fancy that very much, once it found out."
