I assume the other medium sized holes are too small for this thing?

And Quintoc, looking at the room, causing it to fall won't send it straight into the hole, it needs to get a few more feet into the room. I'll say it can fall into the other holes, it will just have an easier time trying to pull itself out.
Lari sees that his illusory Byg'wigg is too far into the room to help. He decides to let it fade and instead use his minor illusion to blind the golem. He causes black shadow to envelop the golem's head so that it won't see everyone take position. He then hides. Stealth: 27. (If he is too far away, he would run down the hall then dash back after casting instead of hiding.)
If Doomsday is in one of the smaller grinders, then Byg’wigg will scamper over and use his Grovel and Cower ability to give all of his allies advantage on their attacks against it. “Hellos, big monster. You should be bowing before Byg’wigg. Allow Byg’wigg to explain all the reasons why Byg’wigg is best!” Byg’wigg doesn’t do the groveling thing. That’s for other people.

The ground beneath everyone begins rumbling violently. The shaking is so intense it feels as if the mountain is being torn apart. Everyone needs to Dex Save DC 15 or be knocked prone.
OOC: Yeah, Ivellios can actually just make it with his 30 ft of movement so he can attempt to Shove the creature if he wants to.
