Aruzhal moves to F2 and opens with a quickened (bonus action) thunderwave at level two, followed by a breath weapon attack against the clustered enemies.
Thunderwave: 20 thunder damage to ID1, 2, and 3, and pushes them back 10 ft if they fail their DC 14 CON save.
Breath Weapon: 9 cold damage to every single foe, DC 13 DEX save for half

Gunnar makes a short motion with his battleaxe and mutters a few words in a harsh tongue and a loud ringing noise erupts from the far end of the room, capturing ID, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in waves of thunder for 19 damage or half on a CON 15 save.
Feeling the extra energy from Robin’s spell, he leaps forward and follows the spell with a strike of his battleaxe at one of the creatures still standing.

Gunnar Creates a thunderous explosion near the brain puppies. 4 of them are hit by the sound, two looking more worse-for-the-wear afterwards than the other two. He then rushes forward and strikes down ID6 with a blow of his battleaxe.
Aruzhal Moves forward, then sends a blast of thunder out to hit several of the puppies. Combined with his breath attack, it is devistating. Only two of the creatures are sitll standing afterwards.
ID5 Attacks Gunnar ... Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: 21 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 slashing damage. Devour Intellect. The intellect devourer targets one creature it can see within 10 feet of it that has a brain. The target must succeed on a DC 12 Intelligence saving throw against this magic or take 8 psychic damage. Also on a failure, use this roll 11: If the total equals or exceeds the target’s Intelligence score, that score is reduced to 0. The target is stunned until it regains at least one point of Intelligence.
Buni strikes down one brain puppy, then strikes down the final one. (One had 8 hp and the other 7, so 18 takes out the first, while 21 more than handles the second...)
The door across the chamber opens, as usual. When you glance through though you don't find another chamber of enemies, but a room filled with treasure. The treasure is clearly more than enough to put you all up like princes in whatever land you wish. there are magic items, gold, platinum, gemstones of all hues and sizes. The list goes on.
You conquered my not-deadly dungeon. I didn't even manage to kill a single one of you, and, honestly, my other two versions of this aren't doing any better. There were some close calls though, so it wasn't a slam dunk on your part, but you all did manage to survive. Good job! I hope, even with the slow downs, that it was fun.
I think part of the lethality of these creatures is when the party isn't expecting them to go as hard as they do, we all came in with the mindset that we needed extra durable characters, and had to think tactically all the way through. It was a fun challenge! I would expect if these things got sprung on your average party of adventurers, that they'd suffer a lot more!

Gunnar INT save: 9.
Gunnar winces in pain as the psychic damage stabs into his brain, but he maintains his senses.
(He is lucky there were two 1s in that roll or he would be a drooling mess right now.)
Buni rages, runs towards ID5 and strikes twice, recklessly.
Attack: 15 Damage: 13.
