Chickens....look at 'em all, running away from these filthy Drow. Typical...afraid to die. Daewen thinks to herself as she sees her fellow soldiers running away. She prepares to follow.
Doc winced as he pulled a bolt from his shoulder. Unsure if anyone would make it out of here alive without something dramatic, Doc took a step forward as his magical tome shone brightly and in his most commanding voice possible shouted out to the Drow leader, "Call off the assault on us and let us leave in peace!!" It was a shot in the dark, but at this point, it was all they had at the moment.
Cast Suggestion on the Drow leader. DC14 WIS save the leader falls under the spells affects (at the same time the spell ends on the spy wherever they are)
"The villagers! The villagers!"Kasha cries over the chaos, pushing them towards the path they came. "Get out of here! Run!"
Here's the save: 9
I'm assuming all of you are fleeing, so: you all run away, some of the villagers follow. Many are killed or recaptured by the spiders, which ignore you as you flee. "After them!"you hear Maina cry out. "Don't let them get away!"
You have a head start. Better run. What path do you take?
Zhissikassa forces the hand of fate and uses a Portent roll to force the save to become a 7. Faint, crystalline orbs of fate sparkle as Zhisshikassa, once again, rewinds time to his fickle desires. No saves for you, Crispy. The Drow should automatically fail.
Giving everyone a "Time to go" look, Doc helped shepherd any surviving captives out of the room and towards the secret passage as fast as possible firing a few bolts of fire at the army behind them as he did so (assuming we're out of initiative).
Assuming the entire Squad was able to make it safely into the passage, Doc would say to them as they ran towards the surface, "Do we try for the cabin and Rybalka, or hunker down anywhere we might have the slightest tactical advantage and hope we survive the onslaught?"
Never one to throw in the towel, Daewen none the less follows orders and retreats with the rest of the team (but not without a little bit of non-verbal frustration given to the Drow).
Raza pushes the villagers before her, helping a small child as he trips. "Come on now, you can do it." She grabs his hand and pulls him along with her, following the others.
Zhisshikassa runs. As quickly as he can. The cold locks up his muscles - sure, that was a problem, but it's clear by his lethargic pace that Zhi clearly isn't used to running. He frequently rasps pained breaths as he struggles to keep up. How disgraceful. He shouldn't be exerting himself physically. Zhi is not having a good time here.
He reflects on what just transpired. The screams of dying villagers didn't register - Zhisshikassa held no remorse for simple victims - after all, Zhi was not a good person. He was a murderer. He had killed on behalf of the Orzhov. He was cold. As a Yuan-Ti, remorse is something he is incapable of feeling. Yet, somehow, watching the frantic panic of his more roguelike allies and after witnessing Mock be prepared to stand and die in order to allow everyone time to escape - Zhi was secretly thankful she was thoughtful enough to make it out alive - Zhi didn't know what to think. Should he congratulate himself on finding a group idiotic to die so he could live and carry out his goals? Or thankful for having...Zhi shudders...friends? The latter thought scared him the most.
Once the party continues into the secret chamber - Zhi neglects to aid any commoners; he was having troubles running himself - Zhi quietly hacks up the miniscule amount of rations he ate for lunch in the corner from exertion before wheezing to the party- "The cathedral will be surrounded. I suggest we hold - perhaps rest. Slay any drow who follow through this passage. They will be weak, one at a time."
Nephvir nods and agrees with Zhi. He dashed quickly to this spot and has been watching for Drow. He sheathes his short swords and pulls out his long bow, keeps it trained on the hole they descended to go to the castle. He hides and moves into a stealthy position, but keeps a good vantage point to shoot from in case they are followed. He takes out a handkerchief and wipes the sweat off his brow. He nods when he’s in position, says to Zhi via message, “Ok, what next? Their force seems overwhelming.”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Off in the distance, you can see the castle's main door slowly lowering. Drow and spiders pour out like ants on a hill. This is indeed a sizeable force.
"We'll be killed if we stop!" one of the villagers says, worried. "We must flee!"
"We are of the Galekin family. We can run to our estate!" another couple suggests. "It is well fortified, only three days away, and we can send word to Rybalka for help! If you wish to make a stand, we can do so there!"
Mock is... not used to fleeing. She understands the logic behind it, sure, but it's not something she really does. But she remembers what it's like, fighting against impossible odds. Losing against those odds. Shaking her head, she grits her teeth and takes up the rear as they all flee. More than once, she bodily hauls someone back to their feet, shoving them ahead. Her eyes keep darting over the heads of the group, making sure that each member of her party is still going ahead of her.
Her chest loosens a little as they get back up out of the secret passage. They've lost a few civilians, which hurts, but her team is still there. Good. She's already nodding along with Zhi, thinking this might be a good point to make a stand. Then she sees the castle gates open and the floodgates let loose a small army. Her body starts aching with just the thought of all the new injuries she's going to take. Or maybe that's the spider's poison. Whatever.
Mock looks back across their group now and lets loose a torrent of Infernal swears. "I don't think we can take all of 'em," she says. "Not without losin' more people." And gods, she is so sick of losing people.
"Excellent idea," Zhi wheezes towards the commoner who suggested a hold in the fortified estate. Zhi continues to vaguely flop himself in the direction of the forest - it couldn't really be called running. He wasn't a runner. He spent far too much time near books. "You will be last in priority should I require blood to summon a demon to defend against the drow."
Zhisshikassa recognizes any stand in the cathedral is a waste and will continue towards the forest along with the party, I suppose.

"That seems to be our only good option. Everyone into the forest!!" Doc shouted to everyone as he helped guide the survivors into forest towards the estate and their best hope of survival.
(Also if anyone is in need of a heal let me know!)
Arora had been the first to yell out and tell everyone to run, she knew this didn't set well with a few but she also knew someone needed to make a choice for them to live or die... we can't make a difference if we are dead. One by one she helps get villagers and team members out of the tunnel. She refuses to think of the civilians that perished... heck they were probably better off anyway... maybe death isn't so bad... maybe we should have stayed a fought these bastard's. She shakes her head trying to clear her thoughts. What next, where do we go... they will be coming for us soon. We need a plan.

"That's a great idea but we NEED to get moving! Lead the way."

Three days away? Most of these civilians won't last three minutes while being pursued.
Daewen, appearing as a little 13 year old girl to the unattuned, easily keeps pace with the fastest runners in the group. But the underdark is her natural environment, not the forest, so she's afraid of getting lost. Therefore, she'll keep on the heels of Kasha, who appears more attuned to trees and the various sundry of herbs that grow underneath.
"You will be last in priority should I require blood to summon a demon to defend against the drow." "Wait. What?"
"That seems to be our only good option. Everyone into the forest!!" "To the..ow..forest!"Kasha shouted, hurt.
We hurried out of the cathedral and into the forest. We had a decent head starts and ran for our lives, only stopping to come to a river with no bridge but large rocks. We would have to swim across, or test our luck jumping on rocks.
"No! No way! Nuh uh!"Kasha folded her arms across her chest, and shook her head comically. "You might as well leave me here!"she was almost on the verge of crying.

Raza walks up to Kasha and gives her a hug, a tail flick would have normally followed but she wasn't feeling well after taking the spider bite. "Maybe Mock can carry you across like last time? When you were in wolf form?" She suggests.
