(Giving you a better description of the land...) Ahead of you the massive Cloud Peaks reach towards the sky, towering above and ahead of you. The Trade Way leads through the village ahead, which is at the end of the foothills, the road rising out of the village into a pass that leads up between two of the peaks of the mountain range. To go around the town would require travel East or West, and finding another pass through the range. It would seem that, whomever caused the destruction ahead, knew you would have to travel through this place to get by, or else put a large amount of time investment in place to go around.

They appear normal-sized birds and look to be acting just like natural birds drawn to death.
"It appears that the shortest route is through the town. We would have to find another way through if we were to go around. We should head through the town but be on our guard," says Brock after assessing the situation.
Ssej growls cursing under his breath before he responds, "Of coursse, I keep forgetting our enemiess are not necessssarily dumb, to a point, but thiss iss not going to go well. Ssince we have no choice we might ass well get to it. I am ssure they know we are here by now sso no ssense of ssubterfuge, let'ss jusst get to it. You would be able to see that the trade way runs straight through the small town. To the left of that road is a large building, with several smaller buildings, all along the trade way itself. The large building you would guess to be an inn, while the smaller likely shops of some sort. Behind those buildings, away from the road, is steepening hill country, that leads up to impassible mountains. On the right side of the trade way, are a few other shops, and roads that lead into the village propper. Further from the road, to the right, you can see homes and such. Even further in that direction a large keep sits on a raised position above the town, its back built into a mountain cliff. Some figures can also be seen moving about the village, though something is off with how they move. It is too far to tell what is off with the movement, so you would need to get closer to be able to try to figure that out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After securing his horse to a wagon, Ssej will also range out in front of the group by about 60' on the opposite side of the road of Umeven, scouting ahead to see what he sees.
Perception: 11
Stealth: 11 (I would be moving full speed and assume that woudl give me a disadvantage but I have an advantage on stealth so I just rolled a straight roll.)
Glancing down, Kallandra sees the two men ranging out ahead of the group...exactly what she was already doing. "No matter their race, they're still...MEN!" But there's more amusement and affection in the muttered comment than anything else. Turning her gaze on the wagons, she sees Brock, points her finger at him, and uses Message to convey all that she's seen to him. She repeats the process with Ssej and Umeven.
Umeven laughs and replies to Kallandra's message. "I've yet to regret getting a good look with my own eyes. But Kally, there's something to worry about here. If you set a trap, I can lure one in. What do you think?"
Grishkar gives Ssej room to move ahead, the urges his skeletal steed forward with wagon in tow. It moves at a slow, lumbering pace at first. This is with purpose, however, as Grishkar's entourage discounts one by one. The shambling, robed figures flank wagon, three per side, to give a screen for their master. "Come along now! If they're waiting for us, subtlety will do little good in this open land. If attackers should come upon us, throw their bodies in my wagon and I'll give proper encouragement on the error of their ways."

Kallandra considers, then casts the spell again. "A good idea for another time. We don't even know if there are any enemies, their number or abilities. Not good to set a trap with so little information...and, please don't call me 'Kally'." There's no rancor in her mind-voice, just a polite request.
Yashin flicks the reins of the team driving his own wagon and picks up the pace toward town after hearing Brock relay what Kallandra has seen. “Ssej and the wizard are right, no need to be subtle. They know we are here. Let’s get them to show themselves and end it.”
(Yashin will drive up to the edge of town before finding a good place to secure the wagon and horses)
Kallandra considers, then. “I say we just go in. They clearly know our route and that wer here, if this is the Enemy. If not, then speed is what we need.”
"Seems we agree on the middle ground, then," Grishkar calls to his skybound ally. "Make haste, but avoid the so painfully obvious trap set for us below."

Coming up the Trade Way, you move past the first few outbuildings of the town. All is quiet here, too quiet as a matter of fact.
Up above, Callandra flits about on her broom, but does not see much of interest. She does get a closer look at a few of the people moving around, and what she sees is not overly surprising. It is clear that those figures are not alive, but zombies raised by some fell power. These zombies do not seem intent on anything though, meerly wandering the city streets.
Everyone, give me another perception check as you move further into the town...
