The demon tells you it's true name. It's displeasure and anger are quite obvious. Handle with care. So every min or so I make a save at disadvantage for it to remain under your control?
“Much obliged. Talk to you later, buddy.” Clayton taps the sword to the ground and ends concentration. The demon vanishes. Clayton turns to the team, “Ok, I can now summon a bound demon. That should be useful later.”
OOC: Now I can summon it later and have it stick around with disadvantage! Just wanted that out of the way before we entered the hell dungeon. Though that is correct, Crispy, you would save every turn actually
Upon reaching the entrance described by Ras Nsi, you approach the general area of the entrance to the Tomb of the Nine Gods. You see FOUR points of interest.
1. ACERERAK'S WARNING - There is an obelisk here with writing on it. 2. GALLERY OF TRICKSTERS - Off to the east is a hallway with statues. 3. ENTRANCE 1 - Northwards, this appears to be one of the two entrances to the Tomb with a door that is open. 4. ENTRANCE 2 - Eastwards, this appears to be another entrance to the Tomb with a door that is closed and locked.
On the map, you will see three "G"s. Those are gargoyles. They are alive. They are watching you, but are not aggressive. I don't have any player maps, so yes, on the map you might see things that are for DM's eyes only, and I've accounted for this, so don't worry, you won't be spoiled any surprises.
Decide where you want to go, and I will set the scene.
I'd like to take a long rest on the way to the tomb. Please. A little campfire, well hidden from marauding tabaxi, kobolds, and zombie T-Rexes, of course.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
OOC > All right then. We're looking death in the eye, so we should prepare. Bree will convey all of this over the campfire the night before we go into the Tomb. She now has Telekinesis (but only one spell slot, so only once), Polymorph, Greater Invisibility, Slow, Haste, and Gaseous Form. No more Fireball, no more Warding Wind, they were not working out, so she swapped them out. She can twin two of the following spells before a long rest (meaning she can cast them on two people instead of one): Haste, Gaseous Form, Greater Invisibility, Polymorph. And she can't be surprised, thanks to Papazotl.

At rest that night, Papazotl retreats a bit, letting Bree explore her (now ancient) memories of her previous life. She sits awkwardly at first, next to Mal, but slowly leans into him, becoming more comfortable. She turns to Shariel, "Is there anything in your, training, that would let you tap my memories, of Mal if nothing else, and let me feel them wholly again? They are not gone, I get flashes, but there has been so much since then..." She looks hopeful. "I have been cast out of where I was, I don't know why, but I'd just as soon forget that now, and remember my life before more clearly. It seems," she smiles at Mal, "It was... awesome. From what you've all told me, I took a great deal of pleasure in the small wonders around us. It is hard to appreciate them now when I've seen the splendors of the celestial plains, the structures of Angelguard, and the rivers and valleys of Eventide. I would like to recapture that easy wonder. Can you help?" Her eyes flash to glowing white as she casts her mind back, but return to normal quickly.
OOC > Here's hoping! I liked playing "Awesome!" Bree better. But I'm working through it...
In preparation for the next day's adventure...
"This edifice before us, if all the might of the yuan-ti has not been enough, I fear we are in for... how would I have said it once? A 'super scary tunic-burning party'?" She smiles her sparkling, fanged smile. It's very charming. (OOC > She took the ability enhancement and her Cha is now 20.)
"I think I've got some tricks up my sleeve that may help us, but if it is fighting that must be done, we may need to rely on the rest of you. If only Yasei were still with us. Musharib, you and Chweetie should probably stay on the surface, hide and wait. If we do not return in, say a week, you'd best make your way back and let Syndra know we have failed."
In the morning...
Bree wakes early, and organizes her meager belongings. Most of her equipment went over the cliff with dead/dying Bumble. She's wearing cast offs she found among the bodies when she woke in her reincarnated form, before you all came back. She stands tall now, at a height with Mal, skin a dark dusky blue, hair darker yet, two small horns curling forward to frame her face. Her smile, when it comes, is still infectious, but accompanied by sharp teeth and fangs. Her clothing is dark, tied on as much as fastened, with one wicked dagger (a yuan-ti's) at her hip, and a small sack with what she scrounged up slung across her body. She has tied a few ribbons in her hair and to her horns, testament to a little of old Bree coming out.
She crouches, eyes closed, and whispers something to herself. Then she stands and stretches, flinging her hands up into the air, a shower of silent sparks cascading upwards. She swings her hands palm down towards the ground and the sparks turn to sizzling silver threads, diving to the ground around her like little meteors. The earth shakes a little, glowing cracks seem to form under her feet, and she smiles, her eyes gone white. (OOC > Prestidigitation, Minor Illusion, and Thaumaturgy.)
"Let's do this."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While bree shows off her more Celestial features, Mal himself seems different as well. He looks the same, but there are small changes. His fangs are longer, now visibly poking out from under his lip. His skin seems darker in tone, his fingernails seem to have grown much longer at some point in the night. Most notable are his eyes. Where once only pupil had been black, now the entire organ shares the dark coloring, making it hard to tell where exactly the tiefling is looking. It's as if something in this land has awoken some deeper part of his demonic blood.
He woke up early and has been practicing with his quarterstaff, he hasn't spoken since everyone else spoke, but does give Bree a smile when she greets him before returning to practice. Its a little unsettling to see him so serious, but given the circumstances the shift in mood is understandable.
(Mal now has the feat, Infernal Constitution. He is now resistant to cold and poison damage and has advantage on saving throws against being poison. He can also now walk on liquids and walk on walls. HP: 73)

OOC: There was something that I wanted to attempt. I’m unsure of how it would work.
“Ms. Bree. If you don’t mind, I might have an idea. To be honest, I’m hoping that it’ll work a bit like unlocking a suppressed memory. I was waiting for permission, but it seems like something you want, so I’m gonna try.” Clayton cracks his neck and knuckles, “I suggest that you remember your life as a gnome.” Let’s see if 5th Level Suggestion does anything.

I like where this is going. However, due to the scope of the multiple eternities Bree has lived through, that may or may not affect your current mind, and it's ability to comprehend everything you went through. While your former self could handle it, think of your CURRENT self as a simpler version of that past life. Could have repercussions.
Alcoves run the length of a narrow tunnel, each one featuring a bestial statue standing or squatting above a basin of oil. The statues depict the nine trickster gods, with each facing pair of alcoves dedicated to two trickster gods who oppose each other. Each statue is three feet tall and can't be moved. As you all explore the hall, each of you who are carrying a puzzle cube, the alcove oil pan bursts in flame.
You hear the grinding of stone, as if a door was opening, off to the west.
(Oohh watch out! Shariel's got Extra Attack combined with Action Surge now! 4 main-hand, 2 off-hand attacks.)

That what I figured. Once everyone has given me the ok to progress, I will present the first map, and may the Trickster Gods have mercy on your souls.
Because Acererak will take them.

Clayton would like to look at the gallery.

Yeah, you can rest. I'll update tomorrow morning. Give people time to absorb. JC sent me a map of the level you can look at. It's in the DM notes.
Ooc: I agree, 2) gallery of tricksters
Agreed on going to the Gallery of Tricksters first. Now I have some thinking and plotting to do for 9th level...
Here are some hp rolls for the level advancement: 6
