(War Caster allows for a spell as AoO. If I'm reading it right, Yasei is using a Katan (longsword) and wakizashi (short sword). The short sword does not need Dual Wielder as it meets requirements for an off-hand weapon.)

OOC > Bree did just, fraudulently, use Ray of Frost in an Attack of Opportunity moment. She missed, as the gods said to her, no, that's not RAW. I believe that's the only time she's used it as AoO, though. In surprise rounds, yes, twice now, I think. She won't do it anymore, she promises. She does not have a feat.

You have committed a very heinous crime, Bree. If you do that again you will be vaporized.
After Newt1 turns tail and runs away like the coward it is, Bree sees Mal on the floor unconscious. "Mal! Mal!!" and she starts running towards him, basically chasing Newt1 back into the cave (but she's slower, because short legs). About halfway there, she unleashes Chaos Bolt at Newt1's back.
As she speaks the words and makes the hand motions, there's a pause in everything, a millisecond of complete silence, a tiny pop, and as the spells fires off, wild energy coalesces and then... time for a wild surge roll, Crispy!
Chaos Bolt: 7 to hit, 10 of... wait for it...
...cold damage, not that it matters, on a miss. Sigh.
OOC > Good luck to all of us on this wild surge. Here's the map, I think...
OOC: Out of pure curiosity, since I’m currently mobile (cleaning day around the house), for my edoomakation, what is Wild Surge? And what was the result of Crispy’s roll?
When you are a Sorcerer with the Wild Magic source, as Bree is, your Magic is a little more unpredictable. When casting a 1st level or higher spell, there is a 5% chance of triggering a wild surge. If yes (so a 1 on a d20) the PHB has a surge table where you roll d100 and see what happens.
A couple of caveats.
1. A wild magic sorcerer also gets Tides of Chaos, allowing her to use advantage on any one attack, save, or ability check once per long rest. But when you do that, you prime a 100% chance of a wild surge next time you cast a spell of 1st level or higher. In addition, a surge will reset the Tides of Chaos ability without having to wait for a long rest
2. I have asked, and Crispy has agreed, to use an expanded but still awesome(er) surge table from Reddit that combines the PHB with more options to make it even more random. They still seem very balanced.
3. Wild surges are not always obvious (as this one seems to be not obvious) and not always harmful/beneficial. Sometimes though...
4. I asked Crispy to do the actual surge effect rolling, so I could be as surprised as the rest of us, and he has graciously agreed.
5. All of this is at the DM’s discretion. Every opportunity to roll a wild surge in RAW is accompanied by text of the sort, “the DM may roll” or “the DM may ask the player to roll...”

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Gonna be needing that Hex back from you, buddy!” Clayton lines up the shot at Newt1 and mutters to himself, “C’mon Pendragon, you’ve got a save face here,” Attack: 6 Damage: 10 force damage + 3 necrotic. Clayton smiles and the smoke traces itself around Newt4 as Clayton’s bonus action (Str Checks).

Very fun- and interesting. Thanks for the background! Hopefully there are some hilarious negative results that we’ll get a chance to experience! 😃
