Tabaqui uses his uncanny dodge reaction to escape some of the damage, reducing it to 15 total.
(trying to visualize this... the troll that was wounded by Tabaqui had Weneon and Angus standing by it, while T fired a shortbow at range. To get to melee with T, wouldn't the troll have to take opportunity attacks from Weneon and Angus?)
<I don't know. You're all on a a boat or potentially jumping off of it in waist deep water. Tje whole boat is pretty cramped as there are 5 or 6 of you. If I tried to put it on map I think it would look like a half carton of eggs. The most likely answer to your question is either a) Tabaquu was at DA for a ranged attack because the troll was within 5ft of him or b) the troll had cover because an ally was between the troll.amd Tabaqui. For pbp I generally prefer totm. It does somewhat reduce tactical complexity. For a scene like this it seems like the right choice - and agrees with my general thinking about combat - its more of a problem or a puzzle than just a bunch of math rocks.>
To that end I'm going to update Calner with the following details: I realize that, at starting over 4th level, you should have all had more gold than the base level indicated under normal character creation guidelines. Thus, not only should Calner have enough gp to buy the component needed, you should all have more than enough funds to secure the boat and probably several other things as well.
Everyone should have started with 500gp +1d10x25.
This was an oversight on my part. Please, update character sheets accordingly when you get a chance. If you have a need for any additional equipment that was unavailable due ro.economoc reasons. Go ahead and add that as well - but ask if it's something exotic>

(Marlyth's Turn)
Marlyth will cast Hunter's Mark on the second Troll in order to magically mark the creature as her quarry. Then she will use her Quarterstaff to attack the same creature while attempting to smash its head; tiny wisps of shrubs and fragrant petals of flowers appear at the site of impact.
Action: Quarterstaff [Shillelagh]: Attack: 7 Damage: 4 + 6 from Hunter's Mark
(@Wile_E_Coyote, I've added the starting gold pieces and reduced the price of a Rowboat, a pair of Axe Beaks and a pair of Bit and Bridle from the total amount.)
(Yeah, I get that grids and specific movement tactics don't work well in Pbp. On the other hand, certain characters are designed to stand in front and take the hits, and others tend to hang back and use ranged attacks to avoid being in the reach of the bad guys. I think it's unlikely T would leave himself exposed in melee range, he probably stood and fired from his position in the boat, or else jumped to the side, but not right next to the troll, who was attacking the axe beaks at the front of the boat. He would have seen the characters already engaged in melee as a buffer. *shrug*)
Round 3
Finding himself in melee combat, Tabaqui will drop the shortbow, and draw his rapier, aiming to create a new orifice between the troll's ribs.
<*"Buffer" = "cover" and I'm thinking this is a small rowboat, not getting much height advantage, also if we haven't decided to leave it, I should call for a dex check. I'm sure some PCs would end up prone. >
The axebeak fails to grab troll flesh as he writes in his harness and flapping its stubby vestigial wings.
Marlyth's quarterstaff swings powerfully, just missing the troll but splashing a surprising amount of water as it splashes, as if a halfling just cannonballed overboard.
Weneon rabbitpunches the troll he's battling with a couple of suckerpinches before the troll holds out a long green arm keeping the still swinging Weneon at arms length for the duration.
Tabaqui stabs at the troll whose been hurt worse than the other. He yells something in giant <anybody who speaks it, let me know> but his words are cut short by the rogue's sharp blade.
Angus misses the troll's knee, hitting only the reeds, but his upward slash takes the troll's head clean off. The troll isn't falling over. It's swinging wildly with both arms. Something us starting to bubble up out if the stump of a neck left by calners blade as bubbles rise from the water where the head landed.
<Troll 1 should have probably had DA if it lost its head, but that was really just a fluff line I was a little overly excited about. I thought it would kill him at the time. It did not. Let's say the eye is the first thing growing out if the stump, it was first in the que - like a printer. >
<Just didn't know if you cast it as 4th or 5th level. That and I'm not closely tra king your summons hp. I asked about color for color commentary only. They're very different creatures biologically.>
(ooc: it's closer to the red one so I guess it is a deep blood red in color?... and it was a 4th level spell slot.)

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Marlyth will attempt to release the rope of the harness to let Pistachio move more comfortably so that he can helpAngus to distract the second or first Troll.
"If you see a beast rising from the water, do not harm it."
Marlyth will send a warning to the party members before leaping out of the Rowboat and magically assume the shape of a Crocodile. The crocodile has purple colored ears, crooked lips and she's wearing the Totem around her neck while holding a Quarterstaff in the right hand.
The elvish rogue manages to twist for one of the claw attacks, reducing the damage taken (total of 20 taken). (reaction for round 3)
Round 4
Tabaqui will pick up his bow and use his bonus action to disengage and withdraw from melee combat approximately 35 feet (or 15 feet if difficult terrain applies), such that he has an unimpeded line-of-sight to the trolls. He will then attack with the shortbow once more, to the more wounded troll if still standing, to the other if the first goes down.
Shortbow Attack: 22 Damage: 8 + Sneak attack (other friendlies within 5' of target) 16 damage
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Calner Round 4)
Calner will cast [spell[Scorching Ray[/spell] at the remaining troll sending all three fiery rays flying toward it.
1st Ray Attack: 20 Damage: 7
2nd Ray Attack: 15 Damage: 9
3rd Ray Attack: 21 Damage: 6
