After Escobert's axe nearly takes off the drake's head, Cale's psychic blades cut deeply drawing more blood from the creature as the roper holds it. Kiari's spell then slams into the drake as it closes its eyes tightly to concentrate WIS 19

The drake's intense concentration keeps it from being done in from Kiari's spell. Roger says, "Still just about alive; this should be tasty!" and bites down on the drake - Attack: 23 Damage: 20
The drake snaps in half with Roger's bite, and the roper slurps up its meal. It also says, "Thank you for the tasty meal, but I am tired of so much noise in my cave! I give you my word to eat all of these tasty looking eggs as I have never dined on dragon eggs, but begone! Leave immediately or I will eat all of you along with the eggs!"
(What do you do, adventurers? We are still in combat in case the professor wants to take aim at the roper. I'll also let everyone do a quick nature check to see if they remember anything useful about ropers)

The professor looks away as the drake is snapped in half. “Dear gods!” He whispers and tri s to think of anything he’s ever heard about ropers. 18 nature check
Tempted to try to preserve one of the eggs she hesitates to consider and comments to the others. "Our friend here is doing the world a great service ridding the world of the little ones, perhaps we should quietly allow him his feast and move along before he changes his mind?"
Unless of course the professor thinks its evil and should be destroyed instantly. She can be swayed to stay.
The Professor is reminded of some adventuring tactics that involved a run in with a roper
@Thaddeus
There are many tales of how dangerous a roper can be to adventurers due to their vicious attacks and resistance to psychic damage!
Living in caves and caverns throughout the Underdark, voracious ropers feast on whatever they can catch and seize. A roper eats any creature, from Underdark beasts to adventurers and their gear.
A roper has the appearance of a stalagmite or stalactite, which often allows it to attack with surprise. The creature can move slowly using thousands of sticky cilia beneath its base. It creeps up cave walls and along stone ceilings, finding the best position from which to attack.
Underdark Hunters. The roper is an evolved, mature form of piercer, with which it shares its rock-like appearance and hunting tactics. A roper can hold still for long hours, shutting its single eye to look like nothing more than a mundane formation of rock. Creatures that come too close are surprised when that eye snaps open and sticky tendrils shoot out to seize them. The roper then makes horrible guttural sounds as it reels in its struggling victims, drawing them close for the fatal bite of its stony teeth.
A roper can digest anything it eats with the exception of platinum, gemstones, and magic items, which can sometimes be retrieved from the creature’s gizzard after death. A roper’s digestive juices are also valuable, fetching a high price from alchemists who use them as a solvent.
Weakening Tendrils. A roper has six nubs set along its body, through which it extrudes sticky tendrils that bond to whatever they touch. Each tendril sends out hair-like growths that penetrate a creature’s flesh and sap its strength, so the victim can struggle only weakly as the roper reels it in. If a tendril is cut through or broken, the roper produces a new one to replace it.
Thaddeus looks at the roper thoughtfully a moment and then thinks at Cale. “I hope you can hear me Cale… I’ve heard about creatures like this. They can swallow a man and digest everything… everything except gems and magical trinkets…. It’s possible that this fellow is full of goodies just begging to be collected like a piñata… just be warned that they have very strong minds and are resistant to psychic damage. We could leave well enough alone and make our way out… or take some risks as Mr. Roper is very dangerous judging from how quickly it broke that drake in half! What do you think?”
The roper seems pretty intent on eating the eggs as well as the party members, if it should come to that. You also get the sense that if you would try to challenge him, Roger would get very upset. You may also notice that the eggs are all being cared for like chicken eggs in that this chamber is much warmer and more humid than the other chambers you have visited.
The party will also notice that you have two potential exit points: Back up the stairs to work your way back out of the cave or there is a small archway behind Roger leading to what seems to be another chamber.
Cale tries to remain expressionless as he replies to Thaddeus's message: "He's a big lad, and my new blades seem to comprise of psychic energy so I'd be of little use. He seems genuine about destroying the eggs; do we ask to watch him do it on condition that we will then let him be?"
The professor responds quickly in thought “I think we are safe to leave the eggs to to him.”
Aloud he says “Of course Mr. Roper, we will be in our way. Say, so you mind if we check that door just past you? Want to make sure all these lizards are going to leave you in peace before we move on.”
Kiari looks over the group to assess for injury and is pleased to find none, then turns to watch the way they came in case someone interrupts this semi silent conversation.
Roger does what could best be interpreted as a nod and shuffles out of the way of the doorway to eat the other creatures in the cave. You hear a rather loud popping and crunching sound, perhaps mixed with some laughter, as he starts eating the dragon eggs.
As the party moves through the doorway, you see a shaft of light with a rope ladder hanging parallel to it going up to a fissure in the rock. The chamber contains a writing desk and stool, several tables with books and papers, and a mirror on a floor stand. Additional light comes from two oil lamps. Thick rugs completely cover the floor; spread open on one of the tables is a simple map of the Greenfields area showing the villages the cult attacked and looted. An arrow is sketched in from the Greenfields toward the west and the town of Beregost on the Trade Way, where the arrow turns north. A separate sheet of paper that is covered with numerals in columns contains the note, “Everything must be freighted north to Naerytar. Rezmir allowed us to keep some pearls, a ring, and a handful of small stones.” Other papers are of less interest; most of them have bad poetry about dragons. Near the table is a bed, a trunk containing Mondath’s clothes, and a second trunk containing Mondath’s Cult of the Dragon regalia with robes, mask, and the knots that denote her rank in the cult. It looks like Mondath must have made a hasty retreat.
(You are now at level 4! Is it time to go back to Greenest, which would be on the way to Beregost? Or is there anything you would like to do in the cave?)
"We should take the maps and any non-magical papers and books to Greenest. Perhaps there is more within the desk?" Kiari notes as she enters the room studying the rug on the floor with interest. (did the rug originally cover the hole they came up through or located elsewhere over possibly another hole?)
The desk contains writing implements and some more poetry about dragons. The rug is covering a hole that looks like it would lead back into another room in the cave complex. (There are now two routes: The hole in the ceiling or the hole in the floor)

8 Perception or 16 investigation
As Kirari reveals the hole in the floor, Thaddeus considers a moment before answering. “What about the dragon egg? We came in here trying to find that egg… what happened to it? There was still another passage we skipped wasn’t there? Could the egg be there?”
"Could it have been among the others that Roger ate or were they keeping one separate?" Kiari asks as she wanders over to look into the mirror on the stand.
"I think it's among Roger's treats, but I'm up for exploring a bit further just to make sure we've cleared this place" says Cale, looking at the hole in the floor.
Seeing Kiari struggling a little with the weight of her kit, he says "Want me to carry something, Ki?"

Can Cale make an Insight check to see if the roper is being honest about destroying all the eggs?
Insight 21 and if that fails then he will use Psi-bolstered Knack to add 6

I noted the magical scale, but not any kind of lower weight so both are 45 lbs.
