Welcome, everyone! I hope you are all doing well, and happy! If not, maybe playing in this game will change that! I look forward to gaming with you all, and will do my best to make it fun for you, as long as we're all involved in the storytelling!
Game Background:
The background for this game is based 3000 years after a massive, major, cataclysmic event that took place, and nearly shattered the world as we know it! Thankfully, many still survived that apocalypse, and many generations later, people and civilizations dot the globe once more. A singular, monotheistic religion holds great sway in the world: The Conclave of Tarj. Orcs, Dwarves, and Humans mainly populate the globe, and thrive in a number of different nations across the continents. Airships, steam-powered vehicles, and powerful science-based alchemy decry the accomplishments of those who have learned and survived.
The World of Terra:
The Holy Land of Lenova
This is where the Vatican of The Conclave of Tarj resides. The Triad is located here, and were Tarj the Wise is often seen. Every five years a celebration is held in the Vatican plaza called the Awakening. During this event, Tarj appears to His people and dispenses new knowledge in alchemy and other sciences.
They do their best to cultivate peace in Terra, and as such have been a driving force in civil discussions between the Rhen Autarchy and Elbion, in hopes of finding a middle ground.
Rhen Autarchy
Everyone in the Rhen Autarchy is a strong believer in The Conclave of Tarj. Military and religion are deeply connected. Because of this, the laws of the country are identical to the doctrines of the church. Order and knowledge are highly treasured. The majority of the population is made up of humankind, but popular opinion is that other races and cultures are inferior to their own. Dwarves and orcs are tolerated, but closely monitored.
They believe in unifying Terra to the knowledge of and beliefs in the church, and prefer to use force to do so. They have sought to quell the outspoken citizens of Elbion, and launched an invasion of their eastern coast in the Doran Islands 40 years ago.
Dwarven Kingdoms of Elingrad
Made up of several unique clans, the Dwarven Kingdoms relish power and stability. Made up of small (but numerous) mountain ranges, the lands are be-speckled with mines and small cities, ruled over by the surrounding kingdoms. Much of their government is rooted in monarchy, and leadership remains within well-established bloodlines.
Tarj's wisdom in alchemical studies is highly regarded in Elingrad, due to the chemical compositions that could speed up the process of traditional mining. The presence of the church was accepted several hundered years prior, and immediately caused a boom in manufacturing. Some of the greatest and most iconic inventions have come from Elingrad, including the creation of steam mecha.
Alwyn Free Cantonry
The AFC is a republic, where people have a right to vote for their representatives in government, and laws and regulations are dictated by a constitution. This document follows many of the same tenants of The Conclave of Tarj, and as such, knowledge and enterprise are deeply praised. The church has a strong presence in the Cantonry because of this, but it is not a ruling body in AFC. There are political tensions between the Rhen Autarchy and AFC, due to the sympathetic ties between AFC and Elbion.
The Cantonry is more of a melting pot; tolerant of other races and cultures, but has a unique identity of its own. It is broken down into seven states, each of which has a commodity that together, helps the AFC thrive.
-Cyron
Known for its green valleys and large bodies of freshwater. New Brighton is the largest aeroport city on the coast. Many large vessels dock here from around Terra, and smaller airships and trains connect it to the rest of the states.
-Dewar
On the Southwestern coast of Panecta, it is the closest point to the Southern Cap. There are cold, dry deserts here, along with snow on the peninsula. There are several cities along the rivers leading to the Panec Gulf, and these warmer areas are well known for their vineyards.
-Northern Vespa
Closer to the equator, Northern Vespa is made up of mountainous high deserts. The warmer waters in the north are some of the most diverse fishing currents in the world.
-Southern Vespa
The home of Republic Central, the national capital, the Sourthern Vespa is made up of large expanses of grassland and forest. It's prime farming land, and agreculture has boomed. Most food in Panecta is grown here.
-Genaria
Made up of many mountainous ranges, Genaria, although small, is one of the largest producers of iron ore in Terra. Concentrated here, many mining towns have been established to keep up with demand.
-Manchent
Among the smaller mountain ranges here, coal is abundant. Much of it is harvested in automaton mining towns for use in AFC and all around Terra.
-Straden
Along the eastern borders of the Southern Vespa and into Straden, many grassy hills are poor farming but perfect for foresting, cattle, and goat herding. Much of the animal husbandry is handled in Straden. There are also mountain ranges that traverse from the southern waters up through northern Genaria and are mined for ore.
Elbion
Elbion is a parliamentary government that strongly believes in the separation of church and state. Many citizens do not hold religious views, but those that do vary between supporting the Conclave of Tarj or their own personal beliefs. Extremely outspoken about their views, they are a strong-willed society made up of humans, dwarves, and orcs alike.
They have a very strong military presence, and are vigilantly protecting their capital, Magister's City of Canden from Autarchy forces positioned east in the Doran Islands. There is currently a cease fire between the two armies, and has been for the last 25 years, being coordinated by the Holy Land of Lenova.
Aquul Nomadic Caliphates
Made up of a unity between seventy migrant, nomadic, orcish tribes, these caliphates contain no capital but rather four well-known locations. These tribes migrate bi-annually, journeying to one or more of the locations at a time. Almost all members of these tribes support or worship Tarj the Wise, but show their dedication to Him more through service than through communion.
Much of the Caliphates are desert landscapes and sparsely populated, but the people living here have adapted to the harsh conditions. Many of the tribesmen are beast tamers, and make a living through trade of goods and services.
Korosvye Helots
A feudalistic system of kingdoms, the Korosvye Helots remain one of the largest exporters of lumber. Most of the population is human, and they often keep to themselves; fishing, shrimping, and animal husbandry helps sustain each kingdom and its inhabitants. It contains the largest body of fresh water on Terra.
Neutral to The Conclave of Tarj, the people are very open to different ideas, but acknowledge and appreciate the wisdom of the Church.
Provincial Empire of Wuxia
All the islands of Wuxia are ruled by a dynastic empire. The Imperial City of Kaixie is home to the current emperor and his family. Of all the nations, this is one of the most peaceful, with fewer stigmas against uncommon folk, and less restrictive laws against unbelievers. The islands themselves are made up of semi-volcanic rock and maintain a plentiful supply of sea life.
They are a quiet people and keep to themselves, and are neutral to the war between the Rhen Autarchy and Elbion. Many citizens admire the generosity and amicable goals of the Holy Land of Lenova.
Northern Wastes
North of Krussin and surrounded by the Snowsea, this uninhabitable land is almost completely covered in ice and snow. Wild beasts roam the waters and cause troubles for sailing vessels that stray too close. Monstrous skeleton graveyards have been rumored to exist here.
Southern Cap
South of Panecta and the Panec Gulf, the Southern Cap is a large body of glacier ice where little life is found. A small number of species has been studied here, but little exists in this cold, harsh environment.
The Rift
Infamous in history, The Rift was created when the Rending occurred over three thousand years ago. Made of calcified bone and violently erected mountains, it is highly avoided due to the number of hazards it poses. These include sudden storms, irregular currents, volcanic activity, acidic toxicity in the water that culls sea life, just to name a few.
DM Expectations:
I am more than happy to accommodate any play style and type. WIth that being said, this game is set as a 60% roleplaying/40% combat style game. It has a linear path the PCs can choose to follow (I will prompt with plot hooks and the like), but this is an open-world sandbox style game, where you can look at a map of the world, point to a particular spot there, and I will run adventures in those places!
I am all about character-building, and character arcs! That's literally my jam, and I will meticulously work your backstories into the mix of the overall campaign.
Obsidian Portal:
I use the Obsidian Portal website for characters, general notes, classes, races, rules, places, and everything else in between. I use this forum here for posting and rolling dice. When recruiting is over, and I have chosen you all as my players, PM me with your emails so I can send you an invite to the Obsidian Portal page for this campaign. Lotta goodies there!
I am looking for a sizable group to play in this game. Please post your initial character idea in this thread, with a brief backstory (one paragraph max). Before you post, however, please view the Obsidian Portal page first, especially the Wiki section, where playable races and applicable classes that fit the theme of this world are available. If, by chance, you want to play something other than what's listed, please PM me.
I look forward to gaming with you all in this homebrew world, and I hope we all have a fun time!
(It has character sheet details, world and country fluff that I've written out, class and race details, equipment, general adventure notes, and much, much more. I think, once you make a free account and login, you'll be redirected to my campaign page.)

My Characters:
Etny Elvenbridge Female Human (Variant) Ranger 6/Fighter 2/Barbarian 1
Eline Rygr Female Human (Variant) Fighter 3/Paladin 1
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erruk Sparkfist Dwarven Fighter (Gadgeteer)
Erruk grew up a well muscled, physically imposing dwarf among the dwarven clans of Elingrad. His physical might, along with familial obligations and expectations, pushed him away from the engineering and intellectual pursuits he had hoped to be able to follow. He trained and got quite good at fighting, but always kind of wished he'd had the freedom to pursue invention and research. It is only recently that he's started dabbling again, getting his hands on technical manuals and theoretical treatises, but hopes to be able to find time and resources to dabble a bit and fulfill that hobby.
(When you all get to creating your characters on Obsidian Portal, here are some instructions: go to the Characters page on the main menu, click the "+" button in the top right corner of the "Character Quick Search" bar. From there, you'll fill out your character's name, tags, and slug (which is just a glorified tag). Below that is a drop-down menu for dynamic character sheets. Select the "Kallak's D&D 5e (mobile/tablet friendly)" option. Fill it all out with your class details. We'll be starting at level 1.)
