You all continue along and make your way down the hall, directly after the pitfall is a set of stairs to the right that lead up, and further down the hall is a set of stairs that lead down. Coming from stairs leading down, is the chanting you heard, except much, much, much louder.
Janek nods, also thinking down might be the way they should go. He will listen to try to make out any details to the chanting as well. (Perception: 18)
From the top of the stairs, you are able to make out what they are saying, and it isn't until you make it all the way down the stairs and into the next room that you are all able to make out what they are saying. "He is the Ancient. He is the Land." Is being chanted over and over, from roughly It doesn't appear to be getting any quieter, and no louder, and doesn't appear to be near ending any time soon. As you enter the room from the North East, you see two possible exits... One to the South West and one to the South East. The voices appear to be coming from the South Western exit. Scattered around every wall of this room are a combined total of 13 little alcoves or niches, each holding various different items.
(If you'd like to take time to fully go through all 13 of these niches, let me know.)

Listening to the chanting, Durant tries to determine if he's ever heard of this kind of prayer before (Religion 13)
He would then look across the alcoves, looking to see if there is any item that would possibly give information as to this strange crypt they find themselves in. Perhaps a statue or strange symbol (investigation 2)
"Which way should we go? Maybe we should look into these chants..." he whispers to keep his voice low, looking to the others.
The chanting doesn't sound familiar, it just comes off as cult-like. As far as the items in the alcoves, as you quickly look through the alcoves you find that all these various different items look like they could have been used in some sort of ritual or religious setting. The items consisted of the following.
Anyone looking through the alcoves (Includes Durant);
You see various different items, which are listed below. All of which look like they could have been used in any sort of ritual or religion setting.
A small, mummified, yellow hand with sharp claws (a goblin’s hand) on a loop of rope
A knife carved from a human bone
A dagger with a rat’s skull set into the pommel
An 8-inch-diameter varnished orb made from a nothic’s eye
An aspergillum carved from bone
A folded cloak made from stitched ghoul skin
A desiccated frog lashed to a stick
A bag full of bat guano
A hag’s severed finger
A 6-inch-tall wooden figurine of a mummy, its arms crossed over its chest
An iron pendant adorned with a devil’s face
The shrunken, shriveled head of a halfling
A small wooden coffer containing a dire wolf’s withered tongue
Janek just looks at the items and wonders why exactly Ignatia feels a need to keep any of them, let alone all of them. He shrugs, "Yea, look into the chants." He doesn't sound particularly thrilled about it, just it's the only choice.

"We should keep our guard up... This house is more than haunted, that is for sure... Let me look ahead...", Elysissays as she looks through the corridor, trying to see for traps.
As you scout ahead, you are more confident this time around that you don't see any traps, however, down the south eastern tunnel, you see that it slopes down into some murky water. Without going in though, you can't be sure how deep the water is. You also see that the archway between the hall and this next room is blocked by thick, rusty iron bars. You also couldn't catch a glimpse of anyone in this next room, even though the chanting is still emanating from it. (If you want to find out a little more, you'll have to go into the water. I didn't want to assume you did.) Because this tunnel led to this blockage, you decide to quickly check out the South Western hall. This hall turns right immediately before turning left 15 ft down the hall. At quick glance, it appears to be an old prison filled with cells.
"Looks like the tunnel here leads to the other room, but it is blocked...", Elysis whispers to her new companions. She lowers down in the water, trying really hard to not make any sounds.
As you get down into the water, you see that it is, at the most, 2 feet deep. As you peer inside the room, you don't see anyone inside, despite the chants still coming from there. As you look around the door you see a small part of what looks like a wheel on the other side of the door. This wheel looks like it might be able to open it, but it is out of reach.

Seeing Elysis be more quiet and trying to be stealthy, Durant decides to stay towards the back of the group. He whispers, "Don't want to give up the element of surprise, I'll back you up." he gestures for the others to move forward.
"If you wish to keep the element of surprise, we can't pass here... It's locked and the wheel to open it is out of reach... But what is strange is that this room is empty... Nobody is here... Maybe there is another entrance, by the prison cells...?", Elysis whispers to Durant.
You all backtrack out of the hall, with Elysis wet from the waist down now, and make your way to the jail cells. At first glance, the cells look like they were used to hold prisoners and the shackles on the back of each cell are rusted out. In total, there are 12 cells in this area.

" Down? Much as I hate to be approaching whatever the hell they are doing."
She strained her ears trying to make out any more distinct words among the chanting.

Ïgnatia began gathering up items from the alcoves and shoving them in her bag, " Waste not, want not."
" Corrupted druids? Chanting about the land?"

" Oh, good. I'm sure the wretched shades of the tortured and confined don't haunt this place.", Ignatia said drolly.
She poked her head into the first cell.
Durant would poke his head into the opposite cell as Ignatia, hoping to make quick work of this dank place. "Aye, we can but hope in that regard."
Janek follows along and will take a look in one of the cells as well. (Perception: 10)
