This sounds great to me! With a party of this size I would like to try a class I've never tried before, a bard.
Player's age : early 50s.
Player's Experience with DnD : I have been playing since the red box, 1st ed. Gave it up for a good while, got back into it with 5e, approx 6 years ago. During the pandemic my local group hasn't been meeting nearly as much, so I've started doing PBP and I love it!
Character Name : Zinhorn Kote
Character Class : Bard
Character concept :
Zinhorn grew up in the town of Luskan, a poor half elf who grew up on the streets. He initially tried his hand at stealing when needed, but found out quickly that his singing voice, his ear, and his talent with the viol gained him more coin than his slick fingers ever could. And he got to keep his fingers, which was a much better deal, he thought. He played for crowds at first down by the docks and then his fame and notoriety allowed him to play at a nicer tavern, One Eyed Jax. He could spin a tale and weave a song that was seemingly magical to its patrons. At times he would recite poetry in between his songs. He was gaining in fame and feeling on top of the world until it all crashed down. He got a little too close with the barkeep Serena and she apparently had a most powerful suitor that wished to eliminate him from the equation. He fled Luskan and went north, to seek his fortune and hopefully escape the long, powerful arm of some knucklehead named... Jaraxle? Really? How could she pick him over me? He heads north to Ten Towns, anxious to leave Luskan behind so that he can keep his head squarely on his shoulders, where it should be.
Zinhorn would think that something may be using one of these caves as a den, or as a shelter from the storm as we are seeking to do. I would point out the urine puddle in the slushy snow and first I would tell the party not to eat the yellow snow, just a tip. Then I would say - fan out, look for foot prints, try to decipher which cave is being inhabited. We will pick the other one. Or, depending on the type of print, toughness of the creature that made the urine puddle, it may make sense to meet the danger face on. Zinhorn would scout inside, in stealth, with his darkvision. If any foot prints of humanoids are seen near the mouth of the cave, he would try to figure out the number and make those calculations as well, fight vs hide in stealth vs. move on.
Do you have a link to a campaign to join? With Zinhorn's sheet, he uses a viol when he's sitting down and playing, relaxing, his favorite instrument. He uses a flute with his left hand when he's wanting to use magic with his playing, or in battle. By my background, he does have proficiency in thieves tools, so I added that to his equipment, let me know if that is ok. I think everything else is standard stuff.
Player's age: 30 Player's Experience with DnD: I've been playing for around 3 years now. I started playing pathfinder with a co-worker and was immediately hooked. My local options were limited at the time so I looked into online and picked up 5e due to it's popularity and have been playing since on a variety of platforms and styles (pbp, voice, video.) Character Name: Sohk Character Class: Monk Character Concept: Seeking to test themselves and their ideals, Sohk has travelled to the icy north to push themselves and find more strength from within. Having grown up in a monastery Sohk is friendly and optimistic, but not always the best with social situations.
Sohk is concerned about intruding on whoever is staying in these caves. Relishing the challenge of this blizzard, Sohk turns to the others with a smile hidden by the weather and asks, “Perhaps we should attempt to introduce ourselves to the inhabitant? Our coming might not have been noticed due to the weather, and it would be rude to intrude!” Sohk is thinking to himself that someone might be meditating in there and could be very startled, but he will wait to hear what the others say.
You said Tasha's for ability change was fine, but the Dwarf I chose gets 2 +2's instead of +2 and +1. To accommodate this I made my second +2 stat a 14 instead of a 15 (So my array is 16, 14, 14, 13, 12, and 10.) Otherwise if you have any issues with my sheet let me know.

Davis wrinkles his nose at the stench, his cool gray eyes scanning the area around. His mind moves over options. They need a place to shelter. There is nothing else around, as far as he is aware. Ahead is likely danger, could be an animal, could be bandits, could be just about anything. He grimaces as the facts fall into place for him. This is their ownly chance, and, regardless of what is inside there, they need this place as much as those inside do. "Watch your steps." He informs his companions. "Something lives in this place. Stay on guard, behind me, and have your weapons at the ready." He grips his glaive tightly as he steps forward. He will be the first to encounter whatever this cave holds, and do what he can to protect his companions if needs be.
Backstory: Spix is an enigma. A criminal trying to put her background far away and in her past, she’s come to the frozen north to seek her own destiny and live by her own principles. race/class : custom origin (mix of fey and human ancestry) Paladin (dex build- new concept for me)
Spix, a small, lithe female figure wrapped in grey woolen clothes and with a similar grey hood and mask protecting her from the cold, looks at the urine pool, and looks to see if there are any tracks nearby that would indicate which cave was occupied- or more occupied. Then, glancing over her shoulder at the group, she motions to the group that she will check the less active cave. She slinks into the shadows along one cave wall, almost vanishing as she silently enters the cave, rapier drawn.
Notes to DM- used the GP difference between chain mail and studded leather to get some extra gear. Are you going to set up a "campaign" within d&d beyond? this allows you to edit character sheets and see everything.
excited to start. are you setting up a different thread for playing or are we playing in this one.
LInk is below, let me know of any questions or concerns. Excited to try this concept,.
**Player's age**: 39 **Player's Experience with DnD**: Picked up 5e in 2020 as a DM for zoom games with family. Prior to that I played a lot of CoC and even some Vampire waaaaaay back in the day. Prior to the pandemic, my DnD experience was limited to PC games like Baldur's Gate. **Character Name**: Jarri Deepwood **Character Class**: Barbarian **Character Concept**: As an asolescent, Jarri was the sole survivor of a dwarven trade caravan set upon by a huge pack of wolves. Jarri escaped into the forest but was lost and cut off from his home by many leagues. Forced to find a way to survive or die, he carved out a meager living in the frozen forest, not re-connecting with civilization for several years. He'd be middle age by the time we meet him and some of his rougher edges have been rounded out. But he would be an outdoorsman, survivalist at heart and it doesn't take much to trigger his hardened survival instinct (rage). In my minds eye, he's dual wielding hand axes.
Please answer the following in character:
He would think: "Urinating outside the cave... not where it sleeps. Implies something that thinks. Probably not a beast. Maybe even other humanoids. Need to play this careful."
He would do: Check for tracks.
He would say: "Best send the rogue in [to whichever cave the tracks lead to] to take a look. If yer not back in five minutes, I'll be in there with both axes to avenge yer death."

53. Played just once or twice every decade since I was a kid. Longest playthrough was probably about 6 sessions. Follow 3 or 4 twitch/youtube players. I'm no expert. Don't have a character yet, but I'd be glad to make one that complements the team:
I'd examine the urine to gather clues about the urinator:
Since it's a puddle and not a line, it's likely not a flying creature (*see below). Check for tracks in the snow.
Given any urine, it's not likely undead, ethereal, an aberration, celestial, construct, conjuration, insect, elemental, fey (wouldn't desecrate the ground like this), ooze, or plant, so it's likely a beast, giant, fiend, monstrosity or some select kind of humanoid
It could be a dragon, but dragons fly and often just secrete concentrated uric acid as a white powdery substance (bearded dragons IRL)
If it's a small puddle, the creature/entity could be any size or gender. But if the puddle is large, it's probably a large being. If it's on the wall, it's probably a male. If the wall is wet above my waist, it's probably a very large male beast, monstrosity or giant. If the wall is wet VERY high up, then perhaps it IS a flying creature and relieved itself while passing high above recently (and it may be safer to take shelter in a cave and stand watch). Tracks would also strongly aid in identifying the creature.
Given the strong, acrid smell, it tells me the creature may not be well hydrated, but probably has been eating plenty of nutrients
So I'd ask the DM for specifics about the quantity and splatter pattern of the urine and to describe any tracks to and fro.
But in general:
<loud whisper>: "Mates, ready your spells, weapons and torches! There be earthly friends or foe about! Stick together!" <depending on more info>: "Mind the sky and your backs too!"
<stealthily head towards left cave entrance while prodding the snowy, icy ground with my staff, weapon drawn, while examining entrances for traps, tripwires, or loose stalactites, rubble, boulders, stones or falling objects, eyes circling, sweeping the sky and behind me as well>
**Player's Experience with DnD** Two years with PBP
**Character Name** Agon Fireborn
**Character Class** Cleric
**Character Concept** A all rounder team player who isn't the best but good at melee fight, spell casting and support role aka typical cleric.
In character
Agon wouldn't take any impatient reaction. He hates to be biased by preconceptions. He tells his friends and asks help action to investigate the puddle or gives help action and guidance cantrip to other member if they have better Nature skill. On investigation he would pay attention to :
Footprint around the puddle which indicates the size, number and race about the creature.
The size and place of the puddle which shows more detailed information about the creature's size and gender.
The smell ( and taste! If necessary) of urine which tells the eating habits and health condition of the creature.
Summarizing the information above and drawing a conclusion which cave the creature entered and how should the party react.
**Player's age** Early 30s **Player's Experience with DnD** Nearly 2 years **Character Name** Ezel Votsk **Character Class** Warlock **Character Concept** A character that is hard to hit and constantly deals heavy damage. However, Ezel relies heavily on concentration.
Ezel grew up an orphan on the streets of a city. He survived by learning to pickpocket as a way of getting some money to buy food and drink. Eventually, Ezel attempts to pickpocket a lord of the city but is caught. The lord, realising that Ezel lived his whole life so far by going unnoticed, decides to take Ezel in. However, at the hands of the lord and Ezels need for salvation, he becomes proud, cunning, and sometimes cruel. He is pragmatic, and life holds little value to him. He will strike without a moment's thought, warning, or hesitation. Although, he wouldn't kill just for the sake of it. As killing people randomly would draw too much attention to himself, which is not ideal when trying to work as a spy.
In Character
Ezel would think that there would be something that lives in one of the two caves. However, they would need shelter in order to continue to survive. Without hesitation, he would head into the cave on the left to check it out.

Eria looks mildly disgusted under her winter mask but disguises her disgust as she crouches to investigate the yellow-ish puddle. She looks suspicious and then turns and says to her partners, “Guys. We should find a way to look further into the caves before we go in.” and she very slightly moves into the cave, lights a torch/ lantern, and looks in.

My name is Sakura, I am a halfling- donut hybrid that is true neutral. I am learning French but am still influent, and speak English fluently. My hobbies include: reading, writing, dungeons and dragons, drawing, and listening to Dames and Dragons. I play both player and DM roles.
Wow, So many great applicants. I'm very humbled so many are interested in signing up. I'm close to being ready so it won't be long (a day or two) before I start to select my team. I'll keep you updated till then. Thank you for your patience.
Player's age Mid-30s Player's Experience with DnD Mostly have played 5e, though I played 3.5 for a bit in high school. I've done in person, PBP, voice posts, the lot in the last 3-4 years. Character Name Magwynn (female Firbolg) Character Class Ranger Character Concept Mags is comfortable out in the wilds of nature, and it seems to like her back. She can hunt, and trap well enough to do more than simply survive, but she tries not to take advantage. Balance is important -- she doesn't lean too heavily on any one thing, magic or technology. But while she can do well on her own, she doesn't have as much experience working with others.

Magwynn would check the area for tracks or other signs of a creature nearby -- since the urine hasn't frozen over entirely yet (since it's still slushy) it's possible there might still be tracks, which she'll look for. She'll explain to her party that something else was in the area recently, and might not want to share its space. If there are any plants or animals present she might use her firbolg ability to communicate with them to ask some basic yes/no questions to see what kind of creature it was, and if it's moved on. (Depending on how long we've been traveling, the Ranger Natural Explorer feature might also come into play: While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.) If this information (plus any additional information gathered by other party members) wasn't enough for the group to make a decision, she would scout one tunnel herself, and if there was a creature, either try and speak with it if possible, or use her ability to turn briefly invisible and throw a stone in the opposite direction to distract it while she went back to the group to inform them of danger.
Sounds like a pretty chill setting. I'd like to toss my hat into the ring, if you are still accepting applications.
Player's age: Around 30 Player's Experience with DnD: I have moderate experience with D&D. Mostly with 5e and I've done some dabbling as a DM. As Riker and his companions trudge through the cold, snow, and now blizzard, he wonders to himself if this life really is better than dealing with the consequences of his... unfortunate business deal. Despite being dressed for the cold, Riker can't help but shiver, "Blast this cold and this blizzard. I just want to get back to a nice warm fire and a hot meal. And what is that smell!?" Through his complaining and crinkled up nose a small sparkle can be seen in his eye as he looks upon the two cave entrances. He shuffles next to one of his companions and nudges them with an elbow, "Hey, five gold says a yeti made that yellow slush and another five says it is hold up in those caves."

Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Thank you very much to all who applied. As I would like to choose all of you to be fair that's way to much for any DM to handle. So just imagine 16 players all sitting down at the table for the night for just one DM. With that being said the following names below I have chosen will be part of the team. To the ones who haven't been chosen I bid you Good Luck and happy gaming.
Player name and their character class: twombley the bard, dragondenn the fighter, gorgogi the monk, makkiu the wizard, tesservett the paladin, pocket mouse the ranger DM DOC
To the ones chosen please let me know you received a PM.
I'd like to start off by saying Congratulations to you all who were selected and Welcome to the Start of your Adventures in the North. As we await for everybody to check in a few quick things I'd like to square away If I may.
On your post please finish up then add your link to your character sheet in a spoiler.
A few things to let you know upfront before we start. For the most part I follow rules as written however there are a few things I've added or taken away due to my experience as a DM so please PM on it or on your post put TO DM and put in a spoiler if you have any questions. We can come to a understanding. Now are there any concepts you will not be ok with? If so please let me know so I won't rub anybody the wrong way in case it comes up. For the most part I run a clean experience but on a rare occasion something might slip on accident and then chaos might come forward. As I don't want that just politely PM me so I'll know not to have it repeat itself. I also want to let you know with this being homebrew any wildlife, creature, beast, humanoid etc. may or may not be slightly different then what's listed in the Monster manuals. If there are changes it will be minor changes to flavor the encounter or combat keeping any player on their toes and jumping to figure out what comes next. My local table top players have jokingly called me the m night shyamalan of DND. Because majority of the time I include a twist somewhere that throws them off but makes the experience memorable. I hope to have you all experience that as well. If you have anything you want to add let me know please.

"Watch your steps." He informs his companions. "Something lives in this place. Stay on guard, behind me, and have your weapons at the ready." He grips his glaive tightly as he steps forward. He will be the first to encounter whatever this cave holds, and do what he can to protect his companions if needs be.
Sounds good!
age: can I just say older than DnD?
Experience with DND: 5e, couple years- Previously pathfinder, 3.5, 2e, AD&D.
Character name: Spix. (An alias)

**Player's age**: 39
**Player's Experience with DnD**: Picked up 5e in 2020 as a DM for zoom games with family. Prior to that I played a lot of CoC and even some Vampire waaaaaay back in the day. Prior to the pandemic, my DnD experience was limited to PC games like Baldur's Gate.
**Character Name**: Jarri Deepwood
**Character Class**: Barbarian
**Character Concept**: As an asolescent, Jarri was the sole survivor of a dwarven trade caravan set upon by a huge pack of wolves.
PC - Ethel - Human - Lvl 4 Necromancer - Undying Dragons * Serge Marshblade - Human - Lvl 5 Eldritch Knight - Hoard of the Dragon Queen
DM - (Homebrew) Heroes of Bardstown * Red Dead Annihilation: ToA * Where the Cold Winds Blow : DoIP * Covetous, Dragonish Thoughts: HotDQ * Red Wine, Black Rose: CoS * Greyhawk: Tides of War
So I'd ask the DM for specifics about the quantity and splatter pattern of the urine and to describe any tracks to and fro.
But in general:
<loud whisper>:
"Mates, ready your spells, weapons and torches! There be earthly friends or foe about! Stick together!"
<depending on more info>:
"Mind the sky and your backs too!"
<stealthily head towards left cave entrance while prodding the snowy, icy ground with my staff, weapon drawn, while examining entrances for traps, tripwires, or loose stalactites, rubble, boulders, stones or falling objects, eyes circling, sweeping the sky and behind me as well>
**Player's age** I'm in my 40s
**Player's age** Early 30s
**Player's Experience with DnD** Nearly 2 years
**Character Name** Ezel Votsk
**Character Class** Warlock
**Character Concept** A character that is hard to hit and constantly deals heavy damage.

**Character Name** Eria Perman (human)
**Character Class** druid
**Character Concept** a character who is hard to hit and has high health but can’t deal much damage except with spells
On the way home from your latest adventure, a white out blizzard takes place over the Tundra your currently traveling. You are forced to find shelter fast but this takes you off course to a nearby mountain range with a couple of cave entrances. After a bit of struggle you finally get to the two nearest cave entrances ahead of you. A Ice cold wind blows upon your face as you quickly decide which entrance you'll take just as your nose crinkles and a heavy urine smell penetrates your senses. You see a yellowish slushy snow covered puddle in-between both entrances. Explain to me what your character would think, then do, then say to the rest of your party members.

Character Name Magwynn (female Firbolg)
Character Class Ranger
Character Concept Mags is comfortable out in the wilds of nature, and it seems to like her back.

Player's age: Around 30
Player's Experience with DnD: I have moderate experience with D&D. Mostly with 5e and I've done some dabbling as a DM.
Character Name: Riker 'Con' of the Gate
Character Class: Sorcerer
Character Concept: Ammos, now going by the name Riker, was born as a gambler, so much so that it affected his inherited magic. Strapped for coin an on the run from an... unlucky business deal. Riker now finds himself in the far north taking refuge in Icewind Dale; hoping that his past won't find him there.
Please answer the following in character:

Player name and their character class:
twombley the bard, dragondenn the fighter, gorgogi the monk, makkiu the wizard, tesservett the paladin, pocket mouse the ranger DM DOC
To the ones chosen please let me know you received a PM.
I got your PM and responded.
Thanks!
