You gain a sense of your patron' s wishes, and you understand his values as well as any. You know he will impose his grace on you on the 15th of Tarkuhl before a year has passed, at the time you will surely find yourself in a land you've never set foot in before.
(If you want to know if you should keep playing, you are currently, by my estimation, the most powerful character in the arena. You won't be able to defend your position if you aren't here. I suspect more players would like to take a crack at defeating you than fear you as an impervious obstacle. With resent growth of the thread you may be facing new challengers soon.)
Shmitty Jackson is thrown to the ground in front of the tavern by the security detail his owner, The Drow Matron of some god awful dark place that sucks. He feels the slave collar tight around his neck and understands that even though he is left alone he is still property.
The drow detail leaves him quickly in order to escape the tyranny of the surface sun. Shmitty loves how they flee the light but years of pain has taught him not to show it. He knows what this place is. He hears the roar of the crowd and the melodic din of combat and understands why the Spider Lady brought him here. He's to make the midnight bastards money. He feels his cloak and it confirms his suspicions, his coat is lined with 6 hand crossbows and he is equipped with the finest steel forged in the underdark. If he was a stupid man he would be dead already, so he doesn't entertain the possibility of running away. This isn't the first time he had to fight for entertainment and it wont be the last. He just hopes that somehow he can find an angle to get out of this mess.
Shmitty Jackson walks into the tavern and makes his way to the bar. He catches the eye of the barkeep. "Do you have any water?" Shmitty says in a voice cracked by harsh conditions and neglect. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a leather square adorned with a gilded purple spider. Conversations stop at the sight of it. He slides the leather patch towards the barkeep, "Put it on the tab."

Eldin looks at the Shmitty as he goes about his business. He was about to start saying something in Thieves' cant before realizing that he probably doesn't understand it. He speaks in a low voice, trying to make sure the new guy doesn't hear him, "Do you think that guy might have enough gold to hire me? He would be an obvious customer but I'm not sure he can afford it."
(Not sure what stat to roll but if it's DEX/INT/CHA, the modifer's the same. 13)
(Not related to the skill check above)
He continues on with his meal while keeping a close eye on the new guy and anyone reacting to him.

(I have no intention to stop playing. This is mostly for character development. If Shaundakul (you) said I should move on, I would reroll this character as a min/maxed varient human power build of Umberlee or some other nature god of destruction. Or maybe a paladin of Red Knight, goddess of battle strategy. I might make the second one when Viator gets to a very high level if I'm allowed to have two characters fight in the arena.)
Viator closes his eyes as these feelings wash over him. He feels closer to his god now than ever before. He is comforted with the fact that when Windride comes, he will move on to fulfill Shaundakul's will someplace else. For now he is reassured and overwhelmed with confidence that his actions are indeed divinely inspired. He and Zephyr start the journey back to town with his feet barely touching the ground. He now has a deadline. (What month is it?)

Eldin smirks a little and says, "Yeah, he can't afford the service." He pauses a bit and says, "It may seem odd that I think about gold so much when I'm making fine earnings off the coliseum but the thing is, I'm mercenary first and an arena combatant second. So I'm always looking for jobs to take on; even if those jobs are mundane like buying a sick man his groceries. In all honesty, I enjoy my work and all the it entails. Sure, it gets questionable from time to time but that also keeps things fresh. You see..." He suddenly stops. "Ah sorry. I got a bit carried away. I didn't mean to bore you with a long droning explanation about myself." Eldin quickly takes a few bites of his vegetables and his meat while hanging his head down. He looks at Toren and says while trying to make sure wizard doesn't hear him, "Now that's a generous man over there. Even though a person is very adept at hiding their true self, I get the feeling he's a kind and caring person at heart. I wonder what his story is."
josias takes it all in for a minute. dont be sorry for telling your thoughts. we are business partners and friends. looking over at toren and nylah smiling. your looking at it the wrong way. he is a man that does have or need much. he found his glory the first day here. the moment he won in front of her. nodding towards nylah. not many people seek glory for someone elses salvation. his love is pure. josias doesnt really whisper.

"Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. All of them stand out in their own way but if you mean in the arena..." Eldin pauses for a bit and takes a spoonful of vegetables. He thinks for a bit and says, "That butter obsessed mad man is interesting. I'll give him that. That sea-blue woman with seaweed for hair may also have some potential. Lastly, that Tortle might also be someone to watch out for. I think his name was Baku. Honestly, there's been so many new guys, it's really hard for me to say. But these 3 seem the most promising to me." He takes another bite of meat. "This meal is pretty damn good!"
Calgin perks up at the talk of another new challenger for the coliseum. He walks over to the group at the bar and takes a seat next to the newcomer (or nearby if the others are actually sitting next to him). Nice to see another new challenger, he says and sizes the man up, knowing he may soon be facing him in the arena. I just entered the competition myself. I'm expecting many glorious fights!
