Glimmer flies into the trap room you can see there is no one at the arrow slits.
Continuing forward, Glimmer gets a good look at the room ahead.
This was once a magnificent hall with a soaring ceiling, marble floors, and intricate carvings of prosperous farmlands decorating the walls. It has since fallen to ruin. Deep cracks mar the walls, sections of the masonry have collapsed, and the huge stone doors at the north end of the hall are broken. Passages lead west and south, and there is a stone door to the east. A small cooking fire and several bedrolls are in the southeast corner of the room.
She sees a woman wearing heavy armor approaching the gate. 5 hobgoblins are eating at the fire. Near them is a very large lizard like creature on all four. It's head is heavily armored and it has a very powerful looking jaw. It's mouth is open and it is paying rapt attention to its environment like it is hunting.
One of the hobgoblins gets up and clumsily knocks a metal pot that clangs. The lizard moves at terrifying speed, snapping at the hobgoblin
Attack: 21 Damage: 39
It narrowly misses the diving hobgoblin, but bites the pot before it can bounce a second time, crushing the iron pot like clay.
The woman turns and yells "Fools! Calm, Slam. You may eat later. Focus here."
(DM EDIT: So this was legit a 12 attack roll with 35 Damage. No idea why it's 18 now. The hobgoblin would be kindling if it was. I'd have preferred that lol)
Melchor quickly recounts this. ‘We have a fight on - 5 hobgoblins, armoured woman and a giant lizard. The lizard looked terrifying, but the armoured woman could be a challenge too. No-one at the arrow slits though..’
Olaerys listens to Melchor, still breathing heavy after the last battle. “Whoa, whoa whoa. That’s a lot. Should we back up and find another way in, or the right answer to say to them?” He looks at the others to gauge their health after the last battle.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Hobgoblins now... who are these people? Gargoyles, minotaurs, dark dwarves... what on earth have we gotten ourselves into?" he shakes his head. "I am game to keep fighting until we get some answers, but this sounds like a dangerous battle ahead."

Olaerys busts out laughing but contains it in his hand, glad to have some levity distract him from the business at hand. “Maybe, maybe we should flick one of your boogers on them Shrek, that’ll slow them down. I know you’ve been mining for some ammo.” He holds his side and laughs a little more, then regains his composure.

OOC: Question - how big/heavy is that door between B3 and B4?
Shrek peers into the darkness beyond, not able to see much. With his free hand stuck up his nose, he quickly pulls it out (with a delicious golden nugget perched atop), and flings it (the booger, not his finger) into the darkness beyond, upon Olaery's jest. Whispering, "Shrek no like battlefield. Mayhaps we's draw them out into this room, where we's hide and jump them when they come in?"
OOC: Strategy - if we force them to come from room B4 to B3, there's a chokepoint in that doorway where they'd have to come in one-by-one, drawing their forces out so they can't all attack at once. Rather, they'd build their attack up one monster per round. How's that sound? And if that door is light enough, Shrek can use it as a shield or something to pin them down and under.
Ankita stands silently, worried about the situation as she learns about what is ahead of them. She gives a slight smile as the others rib each other, but the worry is definitely there.
"Does anyone need some healing before we start anything? Petra? Shrek, I know you took quite a fall?" As for strategy, she'll let them figure it out and she'll help the best to her ability. This lizard thing though... oh man.
Speaking quietly… ‘I can try to freeze the woman in place from here. After that, the most important thing is to neutralise the lizard. Are you able to do anything without killing it Ankita?’ he then turns to Shrek ‘I don’t like the idea of fighting here though Shrek - just because the arrow slits aren’t in use now, doesn’t mean they won’t be once the fighting starts…’
"Well, I can try and entangle it, but it only needs a DC of 14 strength to break out. Otherwise I can slow it down with spike growth, but that's really all I have that isn't going to attack it directly." she shrugs, wishing she could help more.
"We could retreat across the bridge... if they come after us they will be sitting ducks. On the other hand, they could just hold the bridge and deny us entry." He lets out a heavy sigh. "I think our only options are charge ahead, or fall back completely. I agree with Melchor... those arrow slits aren't for decoration."

Randall takes a rear guard position in their retreat across the bridge, watching for any sign they are being followed. Though he tries to feign disappointment, he is glad he is not the only one who had cold feet about pressing further into this ruin.

“I agree with a rest.” Olaerys says, walking back the way they came. “Let’s see what else we can find in the upper level.” He walks toward the front with Shrek.

Distance to the woman is about 60 feet

Re: the door. It is 15 feet tall, 10 feet wide, 2 feet thick, solid stone. Ie., better roll a nat 20 lol

What you imagined was snot oozing out of Shrek's nose is actually a constant stream of blood, dripping all over the place (NOTE: 27/45 HP).
Shrek shrugs, quietly turns around and slowly marches back across the bridge, taking the team's suggestion to retreat to heart.
"Come on. Let's go find delly-gashion upstairs. We can go here later, once we be stronger and better fighters." he whispers to the group.

Melchor gestures everyone back across the bridge with a sigh.
’Fair enough, we have some actionable information at least. Let’s head back up for now, but maybe a short rest before we fight our way out…?’
