Balliol& Wildred, As your eyes scan the attraction, looking for an official, or trainer, or someone who can help, you feel a tug on your clothes. You look down to see a formally dressed pixie (obviously staff). "You wanna race?" he questions enthusiastically. "Got coin! You can ride Flowerflash, she's mine, and she is the fastest on the track." he states proudly as he holds his hand out, moving it between you, "Eight silver, please. Which one of you is the jockey?"
The giant feline looks at you both with a sad expression and, in a deep and temperate voice, responds, "Yes, some things go missing from the Witchlight Carnival and never come back. Be always mindful of those that are dear to you."
For Halei's eyes only...
When the animal speaks of "things going missing", you are struck by a fleeting recollection of being at the carnival when you were a child. You remember losing a treasured puppet when you were here last. You struggle to recall its name.
Just as the creature is about to continue talking, it is distracted by one of the boys taking a ball from the lost property. It snaps at the young lad as it snatches the ball back with a snarl and a flick of its tentacle, causing the child to dash away in fright. The creature looks desperately around, its eyes darting back and forth to see where the child went. "Oh no!" it looks to you both with desperation and pleads, "I can't lose another youngun'. Please, I can't leave Allowin", it gestures to the other boy. "Please, can you find the boy? His name is Viro."
Halei seems far away for a moment as the feline speaks, lost in thought, and coming to as the child runs off. "Oh no! We can't let him get lost he'll probably be so scared. Did you see where he went off to? I was a bit distracted..." Her bare feet alternatively drawing small circles on the ground as she begins to fidget, looking almost like a wind-up toy preparing to run off after the boy.
"I'm good! Just remembered I've been here before... Did you see where he went?" She turns back to the feline "We'll be back! I won't stop until I find him, friend. No worries!"
Bugs looks at the snappily dressed pixie. "I'd love to ride and I have the coin, but my friend here was the first to decide to race so the advantage of riding Flowerflash should go to him. But if you know of another snail needing a jockey, I'd appreciate it if you'd point me in the right direction."
"Oh, you both want to ride, do you?" the pixie replies enthusiastically, accompanied by a playful smile. "Come on then, let's find you, lads, another mount." He leads on, taking you both to the starting line, where the eight snails are lined up and being tended by other pixies. Some saddling, some polishing the shells, some cleaning the foot. Each snail has two or three pixies generally fussing around it. You look up to the stands towering above the oval racecourse, quickly filling with eager spectators. The excitement is palpable.
He stops behind the snail in lane 5, presumably Flowerflash. "Let's see," he says as he scans the starting line up, "Nimblefoot and Breakneck are still awaiting riders," he remarks, pointing to lane 2 and lane 7. "Take your pick, lads... and which one of you is going to be riding my beautiful lady here." and he taps Flowerflash on the back of her shell.
The two of you waste no time and hastily start searching the area where you think you saw Viro run off too. Just behind three tents and a wagon to the east of the Lost Property tent. For some 10 minutes, you thoroughly rummage the area behind the tents, checking the bushes and long grasses by the fork in the river and under a nearby wagon. But, to no avail, the boy is not here.
You can continue or abandon your search. If you choose to continue the search, please make a DC 15 Wisdom Perception check.
Bugs nods to Wildred of the Colorful-Eyes. "I believe my bespectacled friend here has earned the honor of riding Flowerflash." He turns to the previously mentioned Wildred and nods at the snail. "Enjoy the ride on this beauty. I shall do my best not to be embarrassed chasing after you." He then turned back toward the Pixie. "Nimblefoot or Breakneck?" If names mean anything, I believe I will give the Nimble one a try. If you would point out the way, I will go and see if there is a snail that can compete with your beauty."
Bugs then heads towards the indicated snail and enquires about a chance to ride. He is ready to part with his silver for the experience.
You continue the search around near the dragonfly rides and toward the entrance to the carousel when you spy the lad over in the feasting orchards. Sitting cross-legged on the ground, Vito is intently watching the musical performance of a gnome who is sitting on a swing, dangling from a pear tree, plucking on the strings of a lute.
Wildred remains silent somewhat daunted by the site of the giant snail.not wanting to talk himself out of it but painfully aware of the fact he is not the most attentive of people when it comes to obstacles. Some would say he is more prone than others to have an accident.
"I..... I don't really mind which one balliol."
Trying not to show his sudden uncertainty, now he is faced with daunting task of climbing on to this Giant Bug!!
Stalker, knowing Halei's charisma and persuasion far eclipse his own, as does her knowledge of things 'bardish', hangs back and lets her approach the wayward knee-biter. He keeps his eyes open, head on a swivel, both for caution's sake and keeping an eye out for their scar-faced quarry.
Halei casually strolls over to the boy and plunks down to the ground beside him to watch the gnome's performance alongside him, and is honestly also a little entranced by the gnome's performance. The quiet performance was quite peaceful and calming. "Hey, friend," she whispers as not to disturb the gnome. "Who is this? They really knows their way on the lute! Much better then I think I could even play!"
Stalkers hangs back, smiling. He knew Halei would know what to say. More of a man of action, he admires her gentle approach to the lad. He still keeps an eye out, however.

Stalker & Halei,

Stalker asks Hailei, "You okay? You zoned out there for a minute. If you're okay, let's go after this Viro lad!"
"I'm good! Just remembered I've been here before... Did you see where he went?" She turns back to the feline "We'll be back! I won't stop until I find him, friend. No worries!"

Halei & Stalker,
An expression of relief washes over the big cat's face. "Oh, thank you, please bring him back!"
Together, you race off to search for Viro.
Halei and Stalker, please make a DC 15 Wisdom Perception check.

Halei continues to search for the boy. She had promised the feline that she wouldn't stop until she found him. (rolled a 21)
Stalker continues to search with Halei. (ooc 17 - good perception roll) Stalker also sees if his ranger skills are of any use trying to track the boy.
