"Me too dear, me too. We lost many Toymakers trying to reason with them. But they've gone feral... a warlock to dark powers is behind it, he came to our village with a band of Winter Orcs and bound the Winter Father in chains. We rushed to stop him, but he held up a gem and some of the Toymakers turned, attacking others. Those of us not affected fled in the chaos. The Winter Orcs had always been friendly towards us, they live on one of the islands to the east, but I think he turned them with his gem too. I'm hopeful that if the gem is destroyed, that his hold over everyone will end.
We had some visitors arrive, before we managed to barricade ourselves in the Winter Father's Workshop, and the Turned Ones grabbed them. We think they have all been taken through the Yule Forest to the Tower. You'll have to pass through the forest to reach the Narkit-Omi Tower, it's a pillar of black ice remaining from when the king of the Noel Elves arrived here with his people. There was a issue with a demon that was stealing children, and the human soldier who defeated the demon was pronounced the Winter Father by King Harrick before he and his people departed into the world. The Winter Father has remained here ever since, creating joy to bless the world and counter the evil of the imprisoned demon. I fear the warlock seeks to release the demon!"
As Thomas tells the tale, other Toymakers gather around, sitting on the floor and chattering quietly in excitement, all dressed in their little red and green hats and clothes. They seem quite distressed by the end of his story.

Nimble sat next to the fire, Comet wrapped up in a ball on his lap, and listened attentively to the tale. Brows furrowed in thought, he considered the challenges ahead of them. As an upstanding member of the jeweler’s guild he was very interested in the gem “How is it that some of you were affected by the gem and others were not? Is there any way we can protect ourselves from its charms? What does it look like, is it large, small, what color?” He can’t stop the questions as he considers what he knows about magical gems that may have this strange property.
Xalanthias also takes a seat by the fire, listening intently to the story and Nimble's questions. "I would also like to know how many toy makers, winter orcs and previous visitors there are, so we might know the size of the enemy force?", he adds.
"It's purple, about this big...", he makes an eyeball sized circle with his thumb and middle finger. "I don't know why we weren't affected, I'm just grateful we weren't."
Others among them nod.
"But if we get attacked by the ones affected, it seems we can get turned too. I think you'll be okay... I hope so.", he looks worriedly to those of you who took damage from the attacks.
"We only saw a handful of Winter Orcs, but there were dozens of Toymakers that must be out there somewhere. There were... four... five visitors that got taken?"

The little gnome girl wipes her eyes again. "That sounds horrible. I can't imagine what that must have been like." Looking to the others and standing up "We have to save them!"
There is a chorus of cheers from the surrounding Toymakers, and excited shouts of "The heroes will save us!" "Yay, they'll save Midwinter!" "Huzzah!"
"Here, you can take these to help you."
Thomas presents you with a Jolly Red Bag of Holding, three pieces of Healing Candy, and two Explosive Toy Soldiers.
Jolly Red Bag of Holding: This large sack has a thick white fur lining. It acts as a normal bag of holding, but can also change size depending on how tight the cord is pulled. It ranges from the size of a large sack to the size of small pouch. As a bonus action, whoever is holding the bag can alter the size, every time the size of the bag is changed it lets out a hearty warming laugh of the Winter Father.
Healing Candy: This red and white striped cane of candy has a sweet, minty taste to it. As a bonus action, a creature holding a cane of Healing Candy can eat some to regain 5 HP. This can be done three times before the stick is consumed.
Explosive Toy Soldiers: These windup toy soldiers have been modified to deliver an explosive blast. When placed on the floor, they will move forward 5 ft each round. When they run into an obstacle or reach their 20 ft maximum distance, they will explode in a 10 ft radius, dealing 3d6 force damage. If they are picked up and the wind up mechanism stopped, the toy soldier will not explode.
There is more cheering from the Toymakers, buoyed up on hope.
You think it's the wind at first, but the smashing of the class of a window behind you assures you that the whistle was unnatural. The Toymakers around you freeze in horror as you see the door of the workshop rumble. A force behind it trying to break through. Thomas urges you to run. "We will hold them off if we can, and hide if we can't but without the Winter Father we cannot help our friends! You must save him, you must save the Isles!"
The door rumbles again and you hear the shattering of another window. Thomas tries to ignore the chaos as other Toymakers rush to shore up defenses. "Head to the Tower. Through the Yule Forest is the only way, but step careful, horrific creatures the warlock has summoned might lie in wait. Quickly, you must go now!"
He directs you to an underground passage that surfaces near the edge of the Yule Forest, looking back, you see two dozen of the Bad Toymakers clambering over the Workshop, seeking a way in.
The large snow-covered forest for many years was a peaceful place where the Toymakers would explore and harvest wood for the toys they built. It separates the Village of Toys and the Narkit-Omi Tower. Now, the forest houses new terrors the warlock has devised to keep any unwanted visitors at bay. The journey through the forest is hard as you hike through thick snow and a dense treeline, trying to reach the other side.
((How would you like to proceed though? You can have taken a short rest at the workshop, so those of you that took damage can roll HD to regain some HP if you'd like. Thomas would have let you know that it's a 4 hour hike through the forest. You can just head straight through, try to stealth...))

The little gnome girl starts heading quickly to the forest away from the bad toymakers, seeming to sigh and relax a bit upon entering a forest. She waits just inside the treeline for everyone to catch up.
Xalanthias follows the little gnome girl to the edge of the forest. He waits for the group to gather, then says "We should travel with caution I think. Are any of you capable of scouting a little ahead with me?"

Nimble approaches the others”I can help with scouting the path ahead”. With another whisper to Comet, the weasel bounds ahead into the forest, keeping 100ft ahead and notifying Nimble of any dangers.
((Let me know when we reach a consensus on pace, Xal and Nimble seem to be voting for stealth, if that's the case for the rest of you, give me a Stealth roll! That will also make it an 8 hour trek to make it through the woods. Current time would be equivalent of early afternoon, so you could push through and arrive late at night on the far side of the forest.))
"I'm sorry I didnt introduce my self sooner, you all look so intimidating. My name is Laalanie, most people call me Laala. We need to get to the tower as quick as we can I don't know how long Thomas can hold out and I don't want anymore of them to get hurt."
Are there any animals around, birds rabbits anything?
Elafir is a bit confused by the whole situation. He came for a new job and they ended up slaughtering mad gnomes. He keeps quiet during the short break, trying to sort his thoughts and recover from the fight. Short Rest: 8
