The snow beneath your feet begins to get deeper as you trudge through the Yule, the two wood elves moving in advance of the party. Elafir, as you trudge along, you feel the snow tighten around your foot and calf, latching on as something is trying to pull you under.

((Elafir, make a Dex Sav please!))

Elafir is taking his position to scout ahead on the right flank of the group. 'I should have brought warmer clothes'  he thinks while he tries not making too much noise with the deep snow scrunching under his feets. He screams with horror as he suddenly feels something tearing at his leg in the snow.

Elafir, you try to pull your leg free from the snow beneath you, but it's icy grip has you, as you look up at your fellow applicants, the snow coalesces around you.

The rest of you see Elafir be pulled in as a large, snowy figure engulfs him until all you can see is a booted foot sticking out the side. The snow creature rises up, reaching ten feet or so in heigh. 

Elafir, you are restrained, cannot breathe, and take 12 cold damage.

"Let go of our elf, you snowmonster!!" Ursula yells as she leaps towards the thing yklwa in hand.  She spins the weapon around so she doesn't pierce through the snow and hit Elafir.  She first bludgeons the thing with the yklwa,

Attack: 14 Damage: 7

Then punches it in the face and side kicks it across it's head.

Attack: 26 Damage: 7

Attack: 10 Damage: 7

((The elves were 50 ft ahead of the party, so you're able to get 10 ft away with your movement, would need to move closer or use ranged to be able to attack.))

"Nooo, why snowmen are nice. You let him go!" Laala raise her hand and 2 blast of purple energy streak towards the snowman (aiming away from where the boot is of course)

Attack1: 27 Damage: 17

Attack2: 9 Damage: 13

”Let go of our elf, you snowmonster!!” And she gets as close as she can to it, draws her long bow and looses an arrow towards it, hoping to not hit Elafir in the meantime.

Then attacks with another arrow, wishing she could be closer

Attack: 18 Damage: 10

Ursula looses a pair of arrows at the creatures head, where they sink right in, but don't seem to phase the creature as much as getting two arrows to the face ought to.

Laala blasts a hole in its side, the snow filling back in, but the monster taking a heavy hit from the blow. The snow that was knocked free of it begins drawing more of the snow from the ground into itself forming into a smaller, five foot high snow creature.

Lil Snomen: 17

Dimble races up towards the Snoman (the biggest one), using 30 feet of movement, but noticing that he is still too far, reaches for his daggers. He throws both (each have a normal range of 20 feet) at the Snoman.

Dagger 1: Attack: 17 Damage: 5

Dagger 2: Attack: 13 Damage: 3

Dimble hurls a pair of daggers at the snoman, and they sink deep... but don't seem to overly bother the creature.

((@Dimble, Just as a note, in case you have a DM in the future that chooses to be more of a stickler, RAW you'd only be able to draw one dagger as your free interaction without the dual wielder feat. It's a one shot, and that second dagger did all of 1 damage, I'm not gonna get hung up about it here.))

Hearing the shouts of his companions ahead of him and seeing  the snow creatures form, Nimble dashes 50 feet forward to the smaller snowman.  Brandishing his icicle rapier in the air, it becomes wreathed in energy as he slashes at the smaller snow creature.

Attack: 16 Damage: 4 cold damage plus 5 thunder damage.

On a hit, creatures speed is slowed by 10 feet until start of next turn.  If the creature moves willingly 5 feet or more it takes an additional 11 thunder damage.

(OOC: Used Dash as bonus action to close the distance.  I assumed the cold damage on the icicle rapier replaces the normal damage and is not in addition to it.  I am also sure the snowman is probably immune to cold damage, but oh well)

Xal darts over to help Elafir, speaking some words of power in elvish and once again causing his staff to become infused with natures power. He heads for the big snowman, swinging the staff in a wide arc aiming for it's head, so as to avoid Elafir. 

Bonus Action: Cast Shillelagh
Attack: 18 Damage: 9 (Magical Bludgeoning)

((You know, I can't remember what my intent was with the icicle. 2d8 seems like a lot, but it not doing any piercing damage seems strange too. How does 1d8 piercing and 1d4 cold sound?))

((Would the Snowman grabbing my leg count as a melee attack triggering the Jangle Bells? Rolling in case it does, up to you to ignore them. Also I'd assume this triggers before anyone reaches me, otherwise ignore it please.))

Jangle Bells Ringing Sound: 3 Thunder Damage

Elafir panics for a moment as the cold snow collapses above him. He tries to breathe in but the snowpack above him is too dense. Then he gathers his strength to break free of the grip and dig out of the snow.

Athletics Roll to break free: 11

Nimble takes out the smaller snoman, and Xal whallops the big one, causing another smaller one to form.

((Nope, it's an Engulf action.))

Elafir bursts out of the side of the snoman, the icy body forming behind him as he shivers. He gets the feeling that spending a prolonged period of time within the creature would be a very bad place to be.

((You emerge 5 ft from the snoman, and still have a bonus action (and move), if you've anything to do with that. I'll resolve the snoman turns once I know if you are!))

Elafir shakes the snow off his body. "I hate the cold" he shouts with anger in his eyes. He takes his glaive with both hands and smashes it into the snowman twice with the Jangle Bells ringing with each strike.

((using power surge, assuming I didn't drop/lose the glaive. Otherwise I disengage and try to get the weapon with power surge)).

First Attack: 15 Damage: 13 slashing + 5 thunder damage
Second Attack: 24 Damage: 13 slashing + 4 thunder damage

Elafir slashes at the snoman, missing with the first swing, but the second carving off a moderate chunk of snow.

Xal having hit it the hardest of those it can reach, the snoman charges him, the cold packed snow grabbing at Xal and trying to pull him in.

The rest of you watch in horror as Xal is engulfed, all except for the tip of an ear that protrudes from the side.
