"You make a good point." Aithne smiled. "It sounds like a perfect fit. I wish I had more time to commit to extracurriculars. Maybe I could learn to paint." It's clear she finds the suggestion humorous. Her eyes are sparkling with silent laughter. She could only think on the last time she'd attempted anything more complicated than basic scriptwriting. It had been a disaster and the end product had been unrecognizable.
Aithne waved in return, pleased to be invited, though she couldn't agree to join. "I've already promised what little free time I'll have to the Dead Languages Society." She explained, making her way over to Cadoras' side. "I'm hoping to learn another two languages while I'm studying here. And I'll be working in the Biblioplex." She shook her head ruefully. "Maybe next year?"
Arvol manages to fall behind most of the others and gets to the Student and Alumni Art Gallery well after they do. He just manages to catch Cadoras saying something about equations and completely tunes out that conversation. He ends up just wandering through the gallery, taking in the pieces of art. He does actually quite enjoy the pieces, although it's not particularly an area he ever had any talent in.
He finally comes over with Aelyn, Aithne, and Ambre once Aelyn waves him over after finding the pendants. He takes one of the Lorehold ones, examines it a moment, then fits it neatly into his pack. And he of course catches Aelyn's song, stopping to listen to the song and watch the illusions. He applauds him once he's done and sits for a bit, watching the others, before getting up to look at the few bits of the gallery he hadn't looked at yet.
Having made the full circuit of the gallery he glances back to the gardens they had passed. But the next clue in order was the free treat. Probably the cafe, back by the entrance. He decides to just start slowly heading off in that direction.
Aelyn gives Cadoras a nod and a smile. "Thanks Arvol, glad you enjoyed the music." He says, giving him a freindly pat on the shoulder. "So, a treat, the café perhaps?"He says, following Arvol, giving the last pin to Hendrix as he passes the owlin.
Arvol says flatly, "Aelyn, you are obviously very talented. I think everyone enjoyed your little show there. But yea, I was thinking the café next." He continues on walking slowly. "A bit out of the way, since we'll have to come back to the garden." He shrugs.
"Yes, but that might have been the intention, for us to walk back and forth a few times to get a good grip of this place, don't you think?" Aelyn says, smiling, walking with Arvol towards the café, but looking around at other students again. "So, what do you know of the Star, will you get assignments or will you choose your own paths of inquiries?"
"I have no idea, actually!" Arvol says, laughing a bit. "They report on what's happening around the school. I've heard they do interviews. And somehow they put it all together in a paper." He pauses, "I'm more interested in the investigations. I suppose whoever runs it will give people assignments at first. But maybe we could come up with something interesting to look into ourselves."
Where Arvol had seemed quiet during the tour of the gallery, he now seems to be laughing and much more engaged in chatting.
"We should definitely start with interviewing Ambre about her inventions and Aithne about the interesting work of a book clerk." Aelyn suggests. "Not sure about Hendrix, not talking your head off that one, but I'll find some interesting angle on him too eventually. So there's the café right, I'm starving."
"I could interview Aithne about one of those books she's an expert on! Something like Fae Tales and Flights of Fancy perhaps? Think that would really pull in the readers." Arvol laughs as he makes the suggestion. He then looks over to where the café is located and at Aelyn. "Starving? Hmm, I suppose it is getting later on in the day. Geesh! We should get moving. I think I still need to find my books, one of those fancy first-year uniform things, and my dorm!"
Aithne wasn't proud to admit it, but she'd gotten distracted. There'd been a portrait of a stern looking man in a green robe that had been gradually changing position as she'd watched. The changes were happening too slowly to be visible at first glance, but over a minute or more, his posture and positioning were being altered. It was most noticable if you closed your eyes for ten or twenty seconds. When you reopened them, the changes were far more apparent.
She'd been observing the shifting painting for long enough that when she finally disengaged, her schoolmates had already headed toward the next destination. "Oh dear." She murmured, immediately moving toward the entrance of the Gallery and peeking out to see if she could spot the others. What was the next clue? The cafe? Shuffling through her pack, apologizing hastily to anyone she stumbled into on her way, she sorted through her pack for the riddle list while heading in the correct direction.
You all make your way out of the art gallery and back to the Biblioplex's entrance, where you find the cafe. It is a modest space within this larger-than-life building. One wall of this area is covered with a mural made from a living tree’s roots, which move occasionally and make the entire place feel alive. The ceiling is covered in painted leaves, which change colors depending on the season thanks to a permanent illusion effect - they are currently a vibrant green. The magic also prompts painted squirrels to run up and down the mural’s roots, and painted birds to chirp among the leaves. Seated at small tables inside are about ten students. Behind the counter washing out some mugs is a gnomish woman dressed in a Strixhaven smock. As you all approach her, she looks up from her work and smiles.
"Well hey, it's about time you guys showed up! I thought we were short on some first years this morning... Anyway, I'm Aisla Fitzbottom, the manager. Your scavenger hunt led you here, and that means you've got to help me! As you can see, I'm short staffed and this place is busy as all get-out today. If you do a good job, there's a prize in it for you!" Aisla says with a wink. "Get back here if you want to help! These sandwiches and baked goods aren't going to restock themselves!"

Aithne found herself enthralled by the cafe's mural, watching delightedly as the birds and squirrels raced and played amongst the moving limbs of the painted tree. It was a fantastic piece of magical art and she desperately wanted to understand more about it. How had it been made? What kind of magics were wrapped into its construction? How many mages had participated in its making?
Her list of questions only grew with every step she took through the Biblioplex. Hopefully it wouldn't take her until she graduated to find answers to them all. Beaming, she turned and made her way toward the others, taking a spot behind the counter and watching attentively as Aisla directed them, starting to assist only after she had an idea of the task they'd been assigned.
The lot of you get behind the bar and help Aisla restock her supply of sandwich ingredients and pastries. Ambre, Arvol, and Hendrix do their very best, but just aren't quite able to keep up at the pace the Aisla demands. Aelyn and Aithne fare better, but only just about. Once you finish, Aisla addresses all of you.
"Well... you all did your best! I appreciate the help regardless. There were plenty of students who didn't even bother to help me, just presented their lists and moved on! I admire your gumption and willingness to aid others, even if it is with something that you do not consider your forte. As thanks, take a cup of coffee or tea and a sandwich or pastry on the house," Aisla offers with a smile. "However, it must be said, Aithne, you did the best today. Great job! As a special token of my appreciation, I'd like you to give you something."
Aisla climbs a short ladder next to a shelf and produces the head of a statue, about the size of a baseball. The subject appears to be an androgynous tiefling with one of their ram-like horns broken off. The eyes glow with a faint orange hue behind stone spectacles. She offers it to Aithne. "A Lorehold student from several years back gave that to me, something they acquired on an expedition into the chasm. You look like the sort that might appreciate this kind of thing. They can be a little snarky, but they may be able to help you with your studies. Thank you for your work! And all of you, good luck with the rest of your scavenger hunts; you're welcome back anytime!"
As Aithne takes the marble head, the eyes flash. "Oh, finally, off of that dreaded shelf! I so hate heights," a voice coming from the statue rings out, but its mouth does not move. "So Aisla's finally passed me along, eh? Well, I certainly hope you're smarter than the last fool who dropped me. Or at least more sensitive with fragile objects. This last horn is the only one I have left!"
"Wow, that is quite a prize there Aithne!" Arvol says, clearly intrigued with the statue head. "Do you have a name?" he asks, directing the question to the statue. He spends just a moment looking at the thing then turns to Aelyn. "So, the next clue had to do with the gardens, right?"
He almost looks ready to just head off, when he suddenly gets a grin on his face. "Oh! Our prize! Tea and a sandwich for me. We can take these with us right?"
"Can't imagine why anyone would get rid of you."Aelyn chuckles as he hears the tiefling heads charming introduction. "I'm sorry we couldn't live up to your expectations Aisla, but you are absolutely right, restocking sandwiches and baked goods is not my forte." He says to Aisla with a smile and a bow before grabbing a coffee and a sandwich to go. "So, off to pat a leafy bed in the garden then I guess?" He says to the others, trying to remember where the garden was at.
