Chester slips through the door to the Hero's Haven Tavern as it closes behind the latest patron to walk in. He stands at an astounding 3'4", 3"6" if you count his red cone hat, and is wearing a gray tunic with blue overalls that have splotches of black all over them, along with a satchel slung across his body. In is hands, which are dirty and have the same black film as what is on his overalls, is a metal box that he is currently twisting a winding key on. Despite his overall dirty appearance, the only parts of him that look clean, are his red cone hat and his bushy white beard that sticks out in all different directions.
"One... Two... Three..." He holds the box up to the nearest tall-folk, probably the person he just walked in behind, and says with all seriousness in his voice, "Take this, and whatever you do. Don't drop it, or put it down." Once the box is taken, he will take a few steps back and start counting, "One... Two... Three... Four... Five..." If held up close, the person with the box can hear a faint ticking sound from within.

Tommy will walk back to the tavern after waiting at the gate.
Guess they got list oh well.
He strolls in behind a tall human holding a ticking box.
Um sir could you step outside please I don't think the bouncers will take kindly to whats ever in your hand.
Tommy will point at 2 large Dragonborn sitting in the corner looking hard at the new arrival. Slipping by he will walk up to a table to order some food. Jerry (a green and brown bobcat) walking between his legs.
Mmm maybe some of these new arrivals will be heading out looking for another member on their adventure. What you think Jerry?

Anima looked at the two other humans at the table… a young female with her face buried in a book, and the male Cocozan, who seemed to be very interested in books, but not the female. Anima had never read a book before.. He knew how to read, but it was only useful things like signs and menu’s.
“I don’t suppose either of you has a light” he asks.
Cocozan had been handed a box that is clearly ticking.
"Curious!" He marveled at the contraption as he slowly picks up the tinder box from an outer pocket of his pack. "You may use my tinderbox for your light. If you so wish." using one hand, placed it on the table as he kept the ticking box balanced on the other.
The clicking might be mechanical and he still does not know what it does, as he watches the smallfolk take a few steps away, panic seems to settle. Tinkerers are known to to need testers.
("... I don't think the bouncers will take kindly to whats ever in your hand.") He heard another patron say... and Cocozan understood the sentiment.
"Let us step outside tinkerer, I am curious of your little gadget." Cocozan walked outside. "No putting down or dropping but come with me if you want to see it activate." He beckons the tinkerer out with him.
"I will be back, if you please. I am still interested in your tome as well." He said in a raised voice as he steps outside holding a box he kept steady.
OOC: I started an adventure but been a few days and the other 2 have not joined if anyone would like to join please use the following link to the thread.
Chester follows Cocozan still counting, "... Six... Seven... Eight... Nine... Ten..." Right when he says ten, the top of the box pops open and a poorly carved, but well painted wooden figurine of a clown pops out and wobbles on a spring; you hear the gnome say, "Clownfound it! Ten seconds this time. Last time it was fourteen seconds."

Cocozan enjoyed the surprise but nonetheless gave a bit of a jump when the contraption activated.
"I was not expecting that! curious build, I say.", He peeked inside as much as the contraption would allow as he hands it back to the smallfolk.
"I do not appreciate the creature that you caricatured, his face looks forced, what manner of creature is that?"
"regardless, well met tinkerer. I am Cocozan." His eyes wandered to a man who hurriedly walked past going to the gates.
"He... gave me a warning earlier. Clever chap. But right now, he looks to be somewhat distressed..." Half talking to himself and half to his company.
"I will be chasing after him. It looks to be of import. Tinkerer, mind letting the man who borrowed my tinderbox know that I will pick it up later from the barkeep? And please apologize to the lady for me for perstering her about her tome. it really does interest me but I am being swept off my feet. Out and about I guess. I will be back later. I do not know how much libations are but have one on me" Cocozan flicked a gold coin to his newly met tinkerer.
"and I would have your name now, before we part?" He called back as he starts to walk following the street that heads towards the gates whilst listening for a name if it will be given.
(ooc: I am following Bushawk and joining in his adventure).
Inside of the contraption is a series of gears connected to a windup spring on one end and a release hook at the other that looks like it would latch onto the spring; on which the poorly made court jester/clown figurine is attached. "Eh?" He looks up at the man as he takes back his contraption, "It's suppose to be like a court jester, but I ain't so good at carving wood." Chester catches the gold coin and yells after, "The name is Chester, and good luck in that cursed forest." He gives a nonchalant wave and walks back into the tavern holding the box and saying to himself, "Yeah, yeah."
Chester walks back into the tavern and just hops up on an open seat at the table the lady reading the book and the guy asking for a light were at. He places the box in front of him along with his satchel. He reaches his full arm inside of his small bag, which seems odd as the bag looks like it can carry two books at most, and pulls out a set of tinker's tools and then goes to working on the box. "That guy who just ran off says he'll pick his tinderbox from the barkeep later, and that he wants to read whatever book the lady has her nose in."

Dagny looks to Anima and begins rubbing her thumb rapidly across her index and middle fingers until glowing embers start flaking off her fingers. As soon as this begins, she extends her hand towards Anima’s pipe. The contents in his pipe begin to light. Her lips curl upward, satisfied. “As you requested, friend.”
She then turns to Chester. Her lips return to a more serious, thin line as she lays a silk strand in between the pages and slowly closes the book, placing her hands protectively over the hardbound cover. “What is in my book may probably be outside his reading level. Still, such a comment made by a stranger does concern me on what their intentions are. Do you think he is a thief of sorts?”
Chester looks up from his work and shrugs, "Who really knows, but he probably is just curious about it." He looks up and rubs the back of his neck, "Ah, its too dark in here for this." He reaches back into his bag and pulls out a tube with a bulb at one end and a button on the side, pressing the button the bulb lights up and emits light in a five-foot radius. "Ah, much better. What is that book anyway? You make it sound like it is book about advance philosophy or something." As he talks, Chester snaps his fingers and a spectral hand appears taking the light and holding it above the box.

Anima accepts the light from Dagny, and puffs at his pipe, blue smoke rising into the air. With the three of them at the table, he reintroduces himself. “Anima at your service.”
Bowing his head at the gnome; “Chester, well met. I have come across many gnomes in my years, but none as interested in devices, contraptions and gizmo’s as you are. They came from the forest and like me were one of leaf and twig.“
“And you young lady, thank you kindly for the light”. Reaching over into his Rucksack, he pulls out a red russet potato from its depths.. “Here, a gift, have a potato.”. He looks genuine in his giving.
Finishing off his meal, his stares directly at you, his uncanny iridescent eyes flicking between the two of you. “So who’s up for some adventure in the forest ? Might need another to round out numbers, else I am keen to escape this large wooden box you call an Inn.”
“My name is Dagny.” she says. She blinks as Anima hands her a potato. She accepts it, still keeping one hand on the cover of her closed book. She looks over the potato, “It would taste nice in a stew, I’m sure.”
Turning to Chester. “Philosophy…” she muses aloud. “You could very well say that, Chester. Life and death have many differing philosophies and you could say I’ve been exploring such topics. I can see that you are also an intellect. I would say that you and I both share a curiousity about how things work. Though, I presume your curiosity is from a mechanical standpoint.”
Dagny looks at both of them and answers Anima, “I would be interested in an adventure,” she says as she slides the book off the table and into her haversack, placing the potato in a separate canvas sack to keep the starches from staining her pages.
Anima stands up and shouts out to those in the room “Anyone up for some adventure in the forest. Looking for someone to join our merry band.” ?
The two bouncers hearing the noise look over to make sure there is no trouble, and seeing none relax.
After a minute, seeing no response, Anima smiles, and says to your quietly “lets see if this gets anyone’s attention”… He rapidly starts to grow and change colour. His leg, arm, torso, even neck muscles bulge, his armour stretches very tight almost to splitting, his skin turns green, his teeth grow sharper, his eyes larger.. “Anyone up for some Adventure” he now shouts thunderously across the room.
The bouncers now alarmed start to run over, hands on weapons, but Anima puts his hands out flat, showing no malice or dangerous intent, and slowly sits down, now an 8 ft tall green giant of a… “man”.
He smiles again at you and says “that should do it”.
"Well met Anima and Dagny. You must have just been around those forest gnomes. We rock gnomes are found around the mountains or large hills." He clicks the light off and slides it back into his shoulder bag, along with the box after he closes it up. Strangely the bag doesn't show any signs that anything was put inside of it and he slings it back over his shoulder. "I'm not one to shy away from learning what makes something tick, but I'm not out to find out. I just like tinkering and building things; like that jester-in-a-box I just put away. Though, I still can't get the timer right. It keeps changing every time I wind it up." Chester looks up at Anima's new form, to the point that his hat teeters on falling off. "I think you'll scare more people off looking like that than bring them in. I'm not fond of that cursed forest, nothing about it makes any sense, but I'll got with you. Hopefully find new contraptions to tinker with."

Anima looks around at the gazing patrons… “Ah yes”. He shrinks back down, but to a foot shorter than before, then looks at you. “Stretches the leather if I stay big too long”.
You can see that she has a jade bracelet hidden neatly underneath her sleeve, and her quarterstaff which is strapped to her back is painted black with a green swirling pattern on it, and her clothes look dirty, as if she has been in a skirmish recently
Muriel smiles an replies, "nice to meet you Anima, I am Muriel, former disciple of the great monk Jashin."
Anima nods to Murial, and turning to the other two says "Looks like we have a foursome for an adventure ! How about we rest overnight, let our food digest, prepare for a new day and meet first thing tomorrow morning".
