The charge isn't completely fruitless. Dageron makes his way into the cluster of foes. There is no secret he is coming, as the horse gives him away, but the swings are a different matter altogether. Lord Vader is capable of dodging one of Dageron's blows with little effort, but the second catches him off guard. The dark lord roars as his helmet breaks...and staring from behind it is a scared, horribly mutilated face and one angry, yellow eye.
"That is your last mistake!" Lord Vader shouts, unafraid and clearly furious. The eye settles on Dageron's invisible form...
The horse is a clear target for the last Stormtrooper, who surges to Lord Vader's side and lashes out with her sword....then slips and blood and goes prone.
One of the Ogres, the one with the massive battering ram, turns to Dabbert and smashes the hell out of him twice...
One of Dabbert's men tries to assist him, and hacks into the Ogre's leg twice.
The Ogre with the fortress on its back moves to assist its friend, smacking the soldier with a huge mace.
Lord Vader moves for Dageron but stumbles now that his vision is offset by the missing piece of his helmet, his depth perception now skewed. The lightsaber flails for a moment as the Lord of the Sith howls in frustration...and then points toward Dageron with his lightsaber.
"Kill him!" He commands any of his forces close enough to hear.
And the Goblins in the Ogre mounted fortress did hear as Lord Vader backed away.
One of them, armed with a spear, was still attacking Captain Hahft and didn't stop to follow the command. For his part, Hahft was working on smashing Ogre toes and dragging that Goblin down with his Halberd...and he was finally able to spear him and pull him free of the fortress before killing him. And then he smashed one of the Ogres toes.
A flaming bottle arced out of the fortress toward Dageron, and then a spear flies past him and clatters on the tile.
Jek pushes the dead goblin of himself and stands up. There is ethereal black liquid all spilling out of multiple wounds. He hobbles his way to Cairon. He rattles in a weak voice "We can do this. We must do this. I can still help. Let's go!"
Jek places his ... blood covered? When did he cut his hand? .... Places his hand onto Cairon and helps him focus and control the magic.
Lord Vader steps forward, toward Dageron, and throws one hand, and a wave of the Force, out behind it...
Arrows flew. Two missed the Imperial Officer standing in the center of the group behind Lord Vader.
The Childlike Empress, clearly upset by the turn of events and reaching a point where she is unable to fight, turns, fleeing from Lord Vader and his cohort in an effort to get to Cairon.
"I am with you." She says, kneeling across from Cairon and extending her hands toward the collapsed portal. "Jek...you must get your people out of here."
The Imperial Officer, seeing Lord Vader move forward and ignoring the archer, extends his hands and says something...and a weird, black starfish thing appears above Lord Vader, it's black tentacles testing the air...
Seeing Lord Vader attack Dageron, Darla ran forward, wings raised, squawking, raising hell, and ready to fight as she tried to get a hold of him...and failed. Feathers flew as the thing overhead blasted her with some sort of Force attack...
Slade begins to shake violently over his entire body. Dark brown fur erupts from his skin and his already rat-like countenance further contorts as he runs behind the dais. After a few moments a large rat can be seen scuttling from behind the dais screeching loudly.
Ratspeak "Come and aid me brothers! Bite and tear, maul and maim! Feast on the corpses!"
Having finished his cry Slade throws himself into the battle with a frenzy. Unfortunately his frenzy blinds him and he misses his attacks.
As the Order of the Phoenix, or at least those that the invaders can see, begins to fall back and to focus their attention near the dais, Lord Vader's forces begin to concentrate fire. A flaming bottle arcs from the Fortress Ogre, over friendly units, and explodes next to the Childlike Empress. Too slow to jump away, her dress catches on fire and she begins to beat it out with her hands.
Seeing the Empress beating her dress out, the Goblin tossing Ogre leans back, grabs his preferred ammo, and hucks another spiked helm wearing Goblin at her. He nails her in the back. She leans forward, almost going down, then raises one hand as she continues working to help Cairon.
An Archer, seeing the Empress under attack, fires two arrows at the Ogre who is so rudely throwing Goblins around. One arrow goes high and misses, but the next buries in the Ogres back.
Cairon mutters something as sweat beads on his forehead and he raises both hands...and the portal actually opens. It opens clear as day in front of the Order of the Phoenix. Those who are looking into it can see lush, rolling green hills and the emerald landscape of Celestia beyond...
One soldier, one of the last trying to cover for the Order of the Phoenix runs into the midst of the Ogres and raises his sword, crashing it down on Lord Vader's back as he attacks Dageron. Before Vader can turn the sword strikes again, but then the Sith turns and thrusts his hand out...but is unable to bring the warrior down as he battle cries in Lord Vader's face...
Hrothgar feels something slipped in his hand and hears Brevon whisper to Hrothgar and looks down. Then back to him Brevon.. no... be carefull
He tucks the Auryn behind his armor and watches the battle continue around him. Seeing Vader fight another invisible ally and ordering his men to attack.
Watching the fight he narrows his eyes trying to see what happens and notices a leg of one of the fallen soldiers get bumped by something invisible and stay in an unnatural position. Hrothgar makes his way to him still invisible himself, avoiding the troopers. Pain racing through his body, almost stumbling a few times along the way.
Reaching the fallen soldier he feels the ground nearby to find the invisible ally. He whispers to himself Ofcourse, the heavy one.
Reaching behind himself he takes a rope off of his belt on his backside and moves the rope under Dagerons arms making a loop and ties it with a knot. Both being invisible he tries to use his remaining movement to drag Dageron towards the portal, using the rope to pull him across the floor. While he moves he tries to call for Argento with a short whistle, not very sharp. Trying to keep his voice down to not alert nearby enemies to much he calls out
Argento! Come here boy.. over here Argento's ears perk up as he recognizes the sound and slowly moves towards it trying to move in the general direction. Reaching Hrothgar the horse remains calm, not drawing any attention from forced movements, just a horse amids a battle while Vader engages with one of the warriors. Hrothgar will try to loop the rope around the pommel of Argento's saddle (assuming he cant complete this turn for Argento to move Dageron further)
Movement: To Dageron and use whats left to drag him towards the portal Action: Put rope around Dageron to make it easier to pull Argento: Moving towards Hrothgar, should roughly be in range of Hrothgar
One of the vicious ass rats latches on to an ogre's toe and clamps down. The ogre screams.
Brevon rises as Hrothgar works to drag Dageron away, walking toward Lord Vader with his hands raised.
"For the defenders, the Lady of Light offers her blessing." He says, placing himself between Lord Vader's forces and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix as he blesses the Ivory Infantry defending them.
One of the Knights, blessed and emboldened, swings his greatsword like an axe into the calf of the closest ogre, the one with the ballista who then turns and fires the weapon directly into his chest. The last Stormtrooper moves to the Ogre's aid, but is unable to pierce the soldiers strong armor. The Ogre's try to mount an offensive. The one with the battering ram swings wildly, but is unable to hit any of their foes while the rats nip its toes. Another rat leaps up and grabs the Stormtrooper's groin, going for the femoral artery...
Another of the Ivory Infantry attacks an Ogre, this time killing the one with the battering ram.
"Enough!" Vader says as he extends a hand toward the Childlike Empress. "Now you DIE!"
There is no flash of lightning to accompany the thunder that enunciates the word 'die'. It rumbles and rolls over the pinnacle, and then the Childlike Empress crumples, her eyes still open and staring at the portal she has helped open...
"Empress, no!" Cairon shouts from behind the portal. "Moonchild!"
"Empress!" Captain Hahft screamed. He ran forward, toward Brevon, suddenly motivated by blind rage, blind fury as he attacks the Sith Lord. The halberd clangs hard against the back of Vader's helmet, nearly rending what's left of it from his head.
Lord Vader's lightsaber falls from his hand...sticks into the hard marble floor of the pinnacle as Dabbert presses the attack...and fails to do any further harm to him. Vader's hand clutches for the Captain, squeezes, and brings Dabbert off the ground, his feet kicking as he is lifted into the air, gripping for his throat as he drops his halberd. It clatters...and slowly...Captain Hahft goes limp before being tossed to the side.
The lightsaber returns to Vader's hand.
"Your pathetic attempts to deny me are at an end!" He says, the saber coming up, falling across one of the Ivory Infantry soldiers. His body is cleaved asunder before it hits the ground. Vader whirls, the saber cutting effortlessly into the armor of one of the last infantryman...
Another bomb is hurled from the back of the Fortress Ogre, exploding between Jek and Cairon. Cairon's robes flare up, and the portal starts to flicker as he extinguishes himself...and Jek is knocked unconscious by the force of the explosion.
Jek sees the bomb land next to him. He has no time to react. The explosion comes he feels the heat, and the lights begin to dim.... then they come back. The flames aren't as hot as they should be. He looks down, and shadows have lifted off the ground and shielded him from the blast (Strength of the Grave). For now, at least, he is still able to help!
Jek looks around. The wagon... It's too far and surrounded by Ogre's. Brevon.. What is he doing? And why are there so many rats? There's Darla. Where is everyone else? No time... There no time. The gate, they need to leave. He looks to Cairon and the Childlike Empress......Oh no....... They need to leave now! Brevon can heal her.
Jek will pick up the Empress "Don't worry, we'll save you!" He moves to the gate. Just before he steps in, he looks back, he can still help the others. A distraction is what they need. What is scary? Oh.... Jek will weave the shadows Silent Image, and a 15ft flock of Darla's will appear between Brevon and Vader, it's hard to count how many there are in the swarm. They will randomly about, hopefully keeping some of the enemies distracted enough for the rest of the order to get through.
Jek will scream "RUN!" as he steps through the portal..... Oh no, he looks back, hoping that Iron-Hoove will follow as well!
Feature: Strength of the Grave, go to 1hp instead of 0. Free Action: Pick up the empress Action: Silent Image Move: Go through the portal.
The rats scurry into the fray...until the giant Darlas show up. There's a moment where it's unclear what is going to happen. The Ogres prepare to flee...and then Lord Vader steps forward, swinging his lightsaber...and revealing that the giant geese are all an illusion.
"Forward!" He shouted.
Arrows fly at the Officer, but nothing lands as the Officer offers up prayers to those around him.
Darla begins to attack Lord Vader, but as soon as she moves too close one of the black tentacles from the thing above him hits her, and she collapses on the floor, unmoving.
There is a rip as the pinnacle comes to life with flying geese. Brightly colored, honking fury erupts from the tear in the space above Darla, and geese go in all directions. One of the fortressed Goblins takes a hit to the head and falls out of the fortress dead. Friend and foe alike are battered by the geese as they go in all directions, creating chaos and pandemonium. A rat gets bludgeoned to paste. The last surviving Stormtrooper is killed when a goose tears his throat out as it passes. An Ivory Infantryman was bludgeoned to death as the geese passed...
The Boggart/Slade sees this explosion of feathered fury and begins screaming in rage and pain, "DARLA!!! NOOOOOOO!!" He then begins to force his way through the carnage to save her.
There was little left he could do, Shirin thought. One ogre would be a challenging fight, let alone three that were fully equipped with armor and at the whim of a dark lord that knew no mercy. There were no saving those that had fallen, beyond those that had been whisked away through the portal already. One more hit to Cairon could result in the only chance at living to be swept away in an instant.
The fight would have to wait for another day. He gives an invisible nod to Cairon, knowing his sacrifice was all that was keeping Shirin alive. Coldy, Shirin makes his way into the portal - hoping the best for those that had yet to make their way through, and hoping a quick transition to the afterlife for those that would not.
The sky crackles overhead as something begins to change. The ogres stop and begin to form up around Lord Vader, making sure that they've created a secure cordon while also kicking the bodies of the fallen out of the way. The sky begins to open up, and more Stormtroopers begin to descend to the pinnacle...
With Argento reaching Hrothgar he will finish wrapping the rope attached to Dageron around the pommel of Argento's saddle.
Hrothgar is relieved to see Jek and Shirin move through the portal and quickly has Argento move towards the portal as well pulling Dagerons body. Walking next to Argento Hrothgar will keep a hand on his horse to let it know hes still there and to lean on Argento to keep from stumbling himself. Once they reach the portal he motions Argento to go through the portal taking Dageron to safety.
He turns around to see the enemy regroup with more troopers coming in to join the battle. Such carnage. Hrothgar shouts to Brevon, Slade and any others still left standing Lets go, hurry!
Not having the strength left to do much fighting he choses to step through the portal as well, hoping the others follow.
Slade moves to Darla's side, "OH me beauty, Daddy is here. Let's get gone from this place." So saying he casts a Misty Step dragging the goose with him to the portal and then pulls her through.
Jek holds the childlike empress close as he watches the portal.
"Don't worry, they'll be through soon. Then Brevon will fix you right up! It'll be fine. Look, here comes a horse... Why is there a rope that looks like it pulling nothing. I hope Iron-Hoove and Dageron's horse are okay.... You're okay, you're alright. Look, here comes Slade and... Darla? Oh no. She'll be fine. Where are the others? Brevon, Cairon, Dageron, Hrothgar, Shirin? They should be here soon."
Jek starts to rock back and forth while cradling the childlike empress. He will stay humming a lullaby that suddenly popped into his head. He will start singing softly, while watching the gate for the others to come through.
"You're okay You're alright I'll never, ever leave your side I will stay and I will fight With you
Aah aah aah Aah aah aah
You're okay You're alright I'll stay here through the darkest night All the way, I will fight With you"
The legend of Hyboria's birth has many iterations, though there seems to be a string of common themes. Historians agree that the world was born in total darkness, from which the Lord of Darkness was born. Then the Three Brothers came, marking the end of the dark and the banishment of the Lord of Darkness until the Age of Division allowed for his return.
The first known city to arise on the surface of Hyboria after the coming of the light was Skyloft. While the cities first name has since been forgotten, the island it arose on, Celestia, was not always airborne. The event that brought the city and its island into the sky is widely argued about, but it seems to be agreed that it happened during the formation of the Crater on the eastern side of the island.
The first people of the world, the Hylians and the Aarakocra, came to live high above the surface of the world during this first cataclysmic event, though eventually many of the Hylians would migrate back to the surface of the world as Hyboria became more and more diversely populated. In this time, Skyloft has become more and more secluded from the world as it becomes harder and harder for those living on the surface to commute to the cradle of Hyborian civilization...and the people of Skyloft seem to like it that way just fine.

The Crystal, the Triforce, and the Shard of Division
Part III
Time passes, people move...
...Like a river's flow...
It never ends...
The figure, clad in black armor, his busted helmet showing off the scarred skin and the yellow eye, didn't bother chasing this time. He held his saber one handed as he approached, nonchalant, comfortable in his power. His voice, deep and menacing, machined and magical, echoed through the rift in space as he stepped around it, menacing Cairon.
"You have only delayed the inevitable. Someday I will find you, and I will end you. For now, I have what I want."
The saber flashed.
The portal closed...
She was not alright.
Jek hadn't stopped to take in his surroundings yet. The crags of limestone. The rolling green that was greener than any green he'd ever seen before. Greener than any green almost any of them had seen, in fact. A lush, fertile, ancient landscape sprawled around them, dominated by healthy vegetation, rolling hills, and jagged peaks, all meshed into one mountainous and nigh intraversable landscape. They had made it. They were in Celestia.
Slowly the invisibility spells and blessings began to fade away. Aching wounds began to throb with pain. Horses knickered. The goose wheezed like she was dying. A rat that had somehow made it through the portal went scurrying into the surrounding countryside, looking for a new lease on life after having come up against a foe that was far beyond it.
It became evident within moments who all hadn't made it. Namely, no Cairon...and no Brevon.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jek hears the magical snap as the portal closes. He looks up to see Iron-Hoove standing close by, as if standing guard over him, his metallic leg gleaming in the bright light suddenly surrounding them. Jek remembers helping Orin make the leg, right before the left the Ivory Tower on that first day. Jek hopes that Orin is alright. Orin, Atoh, Chuba. His friends that left earlier. But he's just distracting himself. They survived, but people are still hurt. Jek clutches the Childlike Empress tight without looking at her.
He calls out, weakly. "Who's hurt? What healing do we have left? Brevon, can you look after the Empress?.... Wait? Where Brevon? Where's Cairon?" Realization dawns on him. "Oh... We didn't all make it...Okay, okay, okay.... Nows not the time to freak out.... Who knows how to heal? Who is hurt the worst? The Empress..."
Jek finally looks at the Childlike Empress in his arms. He will try to take stock of her condition.
As the invisibility fades Hrothgar looks around to see who else is appearing. He kneels down as its easier than standing and as he takes the rope off of Dageron he looks around to see the wounded companions all around.
WIth the portal closing he realises not everyone is here, some didnt make it through. With those the remained in their broken state Hrothgar stands up. Seeing several allies are still down and knowing he does not know much about healing he hears Jeks call. Dageron is not yet awake though he breathes
Looking around he calls out Shirin, help me get Dageron to his feet.
Assuming Slade will be worrying over Darla Hrothgar will move to see if he can aid him as well. As he watches Jek take care of the Princess he asks How is she doing?
Attempting to provide Help to both Shirin for stabilizing Dageron and Slade for Darla if possible.
Assuming Slade will be worrying over Darla Hrothgar will move to see if he can aid him as well. As he watches Jek take care of the Princess he asks How is she doing?
Jek looks up at Hrothgar. Then to the others. That's right, there are still people here. Some he just met today, but that's how the Order of the Phoenix started. He looks back down to the childlike empress, and slowly closes her eyes. "She is with the Bright Lady now." Jek will gently place her body down and go help the others as best he can. "We should find a safe place to rest."
Help action to anyone who needs it.

Free Action: Pick up the empress
Action: Silent Image
Move: Go through the portal.

"You're okay
You're alright
I'll never, ever leave your side
I will stay and I will fight
With you
Aah aah aah
Aah aah aah
You're okay
You're alright
I'll stay here through the darkest night
All the way, I will fight
With you"
An Origin Story

They had been left behind...

Jek looks up at Hrothgar. Then to the others. That's right, there are still people here. Some he just met today, but that's how the Order of the Phoenix started. He looks back down to the childlike empress, and slowly closes her eyes. "She is with the Bright Lady now." Jek will gently place her body down and go help the others as best he can. "We should find a safe place to rest."
