As the group works their way forward, with the blessing of an Earth Genasi behind them, Carodoc becomes nearly invisible as the dust and darkness settles around him. Gelin, sticking low to the ground, and being comfortable in a more familiar mountain setting is able to hide quite well. Ky seems to be somewhat nervous, leaving any trace of her most familiar terrain, but the magic helps cover over that. Cyrnair and Flint however, struggle to stay low and quite, despite the spells assistance. With the Dark Vision spotters looking out, you are able to avoid the first patrol, and slip through a section of guard towers that are spaced just far enough away that you can make it work. After about 20 minutes of travel on the rocky slope, you come to one of the inner guard towers. Because of the SHEER darkness this close under the encompassing mountain-top, you get about 90 feet away before you almost run into it and Ky holds out a hand to stop you from moving forward further.
Looking up at it, you can see a single goblin figure. He appears to be looking around, surprisingly focused from one of his kind.

You sit for a moment, and to your surprise, the Goblin climbs down off of his post, and runs off. Those that can see well enough in the darkness, see something that almost makes you laugh. Before he climbs down, you see him grab his stomach. Even through the lightning strikes, you almost think you can hear grumbling. Suddenly, the Goblin Grabs his bottom, jumps down the ladder and runs off squawking in discomfort. (LOL!!!! Gotta love Nat 1 with a -1...)
For a brief moment, Flint's spear seems to glow a faint whitish/yellow moon color. It is so fast you think it could be your imagination... but the luck of this situation feels to good to be true.
Moving forward, you hug tight to the side of the mountain, working your way up it at a steady incline. You travel for another 20 minutes

With a sudden jerking motion, Ky is able to halt all of you as move forward. Hunkering down without moving, and the dust and darkness hugging you, you are able to hide from their sight. Surprisingly, one of the goblins stops and looks right at all of you for a bit, and studies the darkness and dust, but the magic is to strong for the little creature, and the orc leading bellows at it. It yips and runs on after the rest of its party. After a minute, you all take a deep breath, and are able to move on.
After another 20 minutes of travel, you are able to make it to the upper portion of where the collapse is. There are small camp fires littered around the top of this collapse of rock and shale. With the additional light, you can see more clearly the excavation process. What you thought were all ogres are in fact 3 ogres, and 2 hill giants. They continue to dig out a large tunnel heading down. beside this tunnel, there are 2 towers, where hobgoblins are standing, looking around and watching the giants work. Every once in a while the hobgoblin stops one of the giants, and they converse for a moment, but it goes back to work.
Each Giant and or Ogre seems to be in the tunnel for about 20 to 30 seconds now, before coming back out from the tunnel. With this information.... how do you proceed.
OOC: You are north of the tunnel now. You are about 100 feet away right now, and about 30 feet above the guard towers. They have not seen you yet, and the next patrol to pass by is about 5 minutes out. Each guard/scout rotation is about 10-20 minutes total. The tunnel is about 20x20 in size. The guard towers are 5 feet from the entrance on either side, and are about 15 feet tall. There is a large growing pile of loose rock that the ogres/giants are dumping to the west of the hole, about 20 feet away from the guard posts. The ground is somewhat loose around this area from the rock slide. If you need more info, let me know.
OOC: Not really. I was torn between arcana and just straight intelligence. I went with arcana just to help you out :)
Ennis: You are not really sure what is happening. It feels... like you are being compressed, or pulled apart, or both. But only for a split second in between those heartbeats.
Ky looks at the situation and thinks. "What if we take 3 and 3 on the sentries? I can hit them from here, and I have seen Ennis do it as well. Anyone else got something at this range?"
Grinning, she pulls the white bow from her new quiver and nicks an arrow. "I really want to test this thing anyways. If we can drop them quick enough, maybe we can rush the tunnel and force them to fight us 1 at a time? Keep them from raising an alarm?"
OOC: The Giants go into the tunnel one or two at a time, right? All five aren't going in at once?

OOC: you are not sure how they are managing within the tunnel. Each creature goes down, is gone for 1 to 3 to 4 minutes and dumps out more rubble.
Based on the size, 2 ogres could fight together, or 1 giant. Keep in mind, the minimum space for fighting does not pretain to movement itself. A hill giant is only 12-16 feet tall. I would say each one is around 7 to 9 feet wide, so they can move past each other... they just cant fight back to back.
"I do have a spell or two but I'm afraid my spells would light up the sky and alert the patrols of our presence,"Flint replies to Ky'Lera, then smirks at the ranger's eagerness. "We need to play this smart, Lera. Why attack here? They haven't made it inside here, so if we were to dispatch these we would need to still find another way in."
Caradoc lays a gentle hand on Ky's arm and points. "Watch ..." he whispers. "Not all the giants go into the tunnel at the same time. The ones waiting outside will see our attacks, and the game is up before it has fairly begun. At least the thunder is loud enough that it should take a lot of noise to raise the alarm. I wonder if I can climb one of those towers and backstab the guard..."

" I think we should do the following.
Caradoc, you sneak and stab one of them.
Ky you aim at one of the hobgoblin and take him out when Caradoc those his thing.
If we can do it when there is only one of the giants outside, the better. Then, when they are looking inside, we go forward and take the rest of them as fast and silently as possible. I will not use the Rod either, for fear that even at this distance the other towers could see us. The lighting and thunder should mask our attack though. We don't know how much they have digged. We don't know if there is still way to go or they have reached the entrance and are just making it bigger for them to pass, but we cannot linger anymore. Time is of the essence, and not only for my worries about any possible survivors, but something tells me that if we don't recover the Sword before they do, we all will be doomed. "
He unsheathes his sword and readies his new shield.
" Let's try to get closer to could charge against them..."
As the group continues to discuss how to proceed further, another ripple of energy flows from the clouds above. As the darkness grows another few miles in each direction, you start to notice that at the ends of the clouds, they seem to be tapering… down toward the ground now. Its like… a dome of sorts.
As this starts to happen, a burst of electricity flows out from the center of the storm. If cascades down and out in a sphere. As it interacts with you, you feel a lurch from within yourselves. You feel yourself being drawn in towards the eye of the storm for a moment, and for a second, you all have an out of body experience. You see your physical bodies, as if you are standing right behind them, and a tether of life-force energy or aura is keeping each of you to your bodies.
As quickly as it started, it ends, and you feel a whiplash as your come crashing into your own bodies once more. Taking deep breaths, you take stock of everything around you. Looking around at everything in the surroundings, you start to notice… oddities.
1st, you notice that the rubble around the monastery has shifted and slid further away. It looks… like it is a smaller mound now. You can see bits of radiant light peaking through some of the cracks. The hobgoblins… seemingly unaffected by the pulse of energy, talk in their goblin language in excited chittering sounds.
2nd, as you look around the mountain side, and the plains before you and even in the camp to the west… to the east where the mountain fades, everywhere around you… buildings are starting to appear. Homes, shops, a town wall, windmills… the lot that would make up multiple villages and towns… But they do not seem… solid. Like a ghost of what it would be. You blink as if to dispel the shadowy, mirage like buildings that are appearing.
3rd, as you continue to look around, you start to see people milling about around the buildings. But they are the same shadowy, hazy mirage. All of you watch as one such mirage walks right through Gelin, and continues to walk up the mountainside. It does not seem to notice or see you at all, and continues to walk. As it comes to a bolder that sits further up, it walks right through it and you see it continue on past.
4th, you notice that the lightning strikes within the clouds are becoming more and more fierce and rapid.
