Ghathi stops just a few steps from Dwalt as he looks over the guards, curious how welcoming this town might be. "We were hoping to provide some help with the kobolds in the mine?"
"Yes, we heard you had a kobold infestation problem at your gem mine. We're here to see Speaker Masthew about that."Sarya joins in, coming up beside Dwalt and Ghathi on her axebeak Snowstrider, having removed her red scarf and her snow goggles from her face. "And I think we all could do with something for ouselves and our steeds to eat and drink if you could point us to any tavern you might have in your lovely town." She adds with a warm smile.

"Greetings! Ah! yes, indeed you have heard right" - The guard who looks in his early twenties takes a look at the whole party and gets very excited " you surely look like a real adventruing party! may I? - he slowly reaches for Sarya's Axe beak (his animal handling just to see if Burker has any issue with him trying to pet/touch its beak: 9)
Sarya's mount doesn't take the guard's approach kindly, but Sarya manages to calm the bird.
"Oh Sorry! didn't mean to startle it" swallows a big gulp of saliva "you'll find Masthew at the Blue Clam, allmost the last building on the northern end of the docks"
"Hey, easy Snowstrider!" Sarya says, patting her steed to calm it. "Last building on the northern end of the docks, thanks."Sarya says with a nod and a polite smile to the guard, then turning Snowstrider in that direction, continuing the snowstriding to the Blue Clam.
As you go alongside the docks you see that this is how it actually looks a town in the dale mostly dedicated to fishing...even more now that the mines have been compromised. People is nice and generaly with good humor. You see more kids running around already used to the dark. Many establishments will sell fresh fish, maybe evoking some memories from those who grew up in Luskan, but it just takes a quick turn to the docks to remember that this is just a lake, and well, the cold will do the its best to erase any memories of warmer days away from the Dale.
Outside the tavern, you see two bundled-up humanoids talking to one another. When they see you, one waves to you in a friendly manner, then says, “You seem entirely too prepared for trouble. Are you here about the mine?” - Said a Half Orc in his early 40's.
"Yes, if you can ever be too prepared for trouble in these parts of the realms, but you are right, we are here to see Speaker Masthew about evicting some pesky kobolds out of a gem mine." Sarya says with a wide smile as she dismounts Snowstrider in front of the half-orc.

"Well, look no further. I am Masthew and I must say, your arrival couldn't have been better timed these pesky kobolds forced our miners to abandon their jobs, luckily no one was killed but the town have been struggling without the mine...I mean the fishermen have been doing what they can but there's only enough fish and working overtime will surely take a toll on them sooner or later." says the half orc as he sctratches the back of his neck "and if this is not enough one of the miners went missing a few days before the kobolds showed up so the rest of them are entertaining the thought of a underdark monster lurking the mine as well. To be honest, I think the poor man simply fell down the central shaft, which is deep enough to dissapear a body."
"Well, we'll keep a good look out for that monster too, if there is one."Sarya says with a nod. "I think we could do with something to eat inside before we visit that gem mine though. How long is it to the mine? And most importantly, how much is it worth for Temanlaine to get it's gem mine back into operation again?"She says with a polite smile.

"The entrance to the mine is in the woods northeast of town, just follow the trail and you'll be there in 30 minutes. We are willing to pay 50 gp to each one of you. It'll work like this: Once you are back, I'll go check the mines just to make sure everything is safe for the miners it shouldn't take long for me to do that. Once I'm back, you'll have your gold. And I'm sure Vernon here" points at the guy he was talking to before you arrived, another half orc around the same age as Masthew. "Would be more than glad to offer some hot soup on the house, wouldn't you Vernon?"
"erm...sure, I guess" you noticed that Vernon was wearing an worn out but clean apron, he had a strong smell of fish. "we'll add something for your birds as well." Said Masthew to which Vernon just grunted but nodded
Sarya nods and smiles. "Sounds all good to me Masthew, we'll just have some of that hot soup and we'll be off evicting those kobolds from your gem mine." She says and tries to find a place to leave Snowstrider before stepping inside the The Blue Clam to have some hot soup, then ready to ride on to the gem mine, no hot bath needed at the moment.
Darby listens as they are told about the job, wondering if the loot from the Kobolds would be good as well. Perhaps he would have a chance to find some gems that the little lizards had mined.
"She sure is a chatty." Dwalt thinks to himself. "Must be the elven part of her."
Dwalt listens to the conversation. Hearing the mine is 30 minutes outside of town...by bird? "Did the miners say that they broke through to a kobold tunnel or did tha kobolds just appear and run them off?" Dwalt asks. "If tha kobolds came into tha mine and forced yer folk out, it would mean their lookin' ta set up a new home fer one reason or another. If they come out of a tunnel yer men broke into, then ta them yer tha invaders." Dwalt states.
Whatever the answer Dwalt turns to Sarya. "I'm gonna take an' go scout this place out. Once ya had yer meal an' set out I should have the place scouted a bit an' be able ta tell ya a few things once ya arrive."
Dwalt will set out on foot, letting his bird rest and assuming the miners walk there. Dwalt will only slow his pace only to nibble on some dried meat and take a drink now and then.
"Okay, just be careful." Sarya says and nods to Dwalt. "I and any others who stay for lunch here first will be with you shortly." She adds with a reassuring smile.
Ghathi will go and have some soup with Sarya. "Wow, no hot bath first?" he says with a grin. As he sits down to eat, he glances around at the other party members, "Does anyone speak Kobold? It might worth a shot to see if there is some reason they came here. Unfortunately, I don't know their language though."
Tysris leans in close and talks to his axebeak, "Beaky, did you hear that? They'll take care of you as we look into this problem. Hah!" he scratches the neck in all of the right places, he has already become very attached to the axebeak. He steps down and allows it to be led to the appropriate area as he walks in with Ghathi and Sarya, excited about the possibility of some hot soup on the house. He feels very comfortable allowing Sarya to lead and negotiate for them, but as he passes Masthew he says "We will help you thir, thank you for welcoming uth. We willlook into it." He strides forward into the Blue Clam.

The Masthew takes over the axe beak and vows to take care of it. the miners do walk to the mines so after a while you stand before the entrance.
"Nope, had mine. Time for yours pretty soon I hope." Sarya answers the lumbering goliath with a wink and a smile giving him a friendly nudge as they enter the Blue Clam, taking a seat with him and Tysris, waiting for the hot soup to arrive. "Don't even know what kobolds would speak, but I'm pretty sure I don't."She answers Ghathi. "What about you Tysris, do you speak koboldish?"
“No ma’am I don’t. I can speak common, dwarvish and a little bit of giant language, but I never learned to speak like a kobold… however it is they speak.”
