Sarya shudders as she senses her patron's powerful presence in her mind. With the deed done she turns from the charred body to the wicker basket, quickly examining its contents.
The basket is completely filled with shiny metal fragments, to anyone looking at them these look like regular metal. Darby could study them further by rolling arcana with advantage due to his gem merchant's experience
Ghathi is slow to react, but fortunately Sarya's actions stop the verbeeg. He is a little taken aback by her sudden incineration of it. "Well, umm, that was very quick action there Sarya."
Tysris is slow to move as well, ineffective at tripping the Verbeeg, and when the magical flames appear he falls down on the ground. When Sarya burns the Verbeeg up, his eyes go wide as saucers. He stands up and stammers, obviously impressed at the display of magical prowess. “Wow!” is the only thing that comes out. He watches them intently, impressed with his new traveling companions.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Yes, better safe than sorry right?" Sarya says, looking up at Ghathi, seeming a bit abashed over her own actions. "We should continue before the whole verbeeg tribe turns up to party." She adds quickly, not looking at the others, trying to put the wicker basket on the cart for Darby to investigate it's contents if he wants to.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darby sputters and curses as he gets back to his feet, quickly casting Prestidigitation several times to clean himself before the snow can soak through and drench his clothes. With that done he will quickly make his way over to examine the gems as they catch his eye.

Darby looks at the basket initially with some dissapointment as it seems to be filled just with metal fragments, though it shined at a distance there weren't any gems inside. However, these pieces of metal weren't normal, in fact nothing Darby would've heard or seem before...Darby concludes that the metal is not something one could expect to find on this world.
As a former merchant Darby decides that this strange material would be worth around 75 gp to a tinkerer or blacksmith. (the whole basket)
Besides the wind howling there is nothing else that you get to perceive. There's only snow and some trees at a distance, nothing walking towards you or besides the road.
Darby pokes about with the metal before taking a shard for himself and stowing it away. "Not entirely sure what it is, but it might be worth 75 to 80 gold if you put on the charm."
Tysris goes back to the cart and helps to pick it up again, looking to make his hands busy. “It’s a cold night coming on, we best get going. Cold enough out here for ye?” He comments about the weather to try and change the subject of immolated Verbeegs.

Ghathi listens with interest as Darby explains the possible value of the strange items. "Wonder where the verbeeg found all that. But best to get moving."
(Did we manage to get the goats or other animals to pull the cart? Grim would happily use a ritual to speak with animals about it, and guide them if so).
Grim laughs a bit at Tysris' comment. "It's been a cold night in Icewind Dale for the last two years. Something's crawled up Auril's craw and stuck there fierce for her to curse us so. No manner of offering has calmed her fury yet. I pray Silvanus gives us guidance soon."

((no one pointed that out, but I think that it does make sense for Grim to do that. The animals could've presented with several arguments to follow you and help you with the cart. But I'd like to know if you promise them anything or your end of the bargain))
These are seven goats and six sheep. I think you could have 3 goats pulling the cart, and the rest follow the group. It is very unlikely that they'll separate from the group considering the weather so they'll just tag along for the ride.
Tysris nods to Grim and says “D’ya think we can make it back to Good Meade without losing our way in the snow? I don’t want freeze my arse off out here. I don’t like the thought of staying in that feller’s cave, but I want to make sure we aren’t caught in a blizzard.” He stops and looks up at the sky.

As they travel, Darby will sit on the cart and mess about with the wand they had found in an attempt to figure out what it was.
