Roxaria takes the water skin from Vauthok and drinks from it. She hands it back, listening perhaps too intently on his story. “I think Kavaki would be pleased.”
She adjusts the scabbard holding her longsword for more comfortability. “Tell me more about your herd. You’re not allowed back? Did I understand that correctly? When you were telling me about the scar.”
“When I was younger, I was…… proud. I was best among my people when it came to many things..” Vauthok rubbed his bald head and almost seemed ashamed when he spoke once more. “That sort of attitude breeds jealousy.. And jealousy breeds treachery.” The giant clinched his fists tightly for a moment and then let them hang loose. A conflict of emotions obvious upon his face momentarily. “Ilaman gave me what I deserved.. Maybe Kavaki wanted this to happen. For me to follow my own path.” He tossed the stick he had been prodding the coals with atop the pile slowly burning away. “When the Ram Lord shows me its time to return to my people then that’s when I’ll take my revenge..”
Movement out of the corner of Vauthok’s eyes causing him to suddenly jerk to the side and rip a axe from it’s place on his hip. Before the giant could stop himself he sent the weapon flying towards the fox trying to retreat with the party’s rations. Deep down he could only hope his aim didn’t run true.
I'm sorry, did I wake you? ... oh... ooooow... don't worry, he can't hurt you here... I wouldn't allow it if he could!
Eline trembles again, and grips her covers tightly. "You...you didn't wake me. I was already awake. It's...it's a recurring nightmare, and it's not far off from what actually happened that night." Her voice is still shakey with emotion, and it's all she can do to strive to keep it as steady as possible. Gods, she feels so useless!
Rage within Vauthok boiled much like water over a fire but it was doused almost immediately. ‘No way around it..’ The giant hung his head momentarily before standing to collect his kill. Axe returned to it’s place on his hip, Vauthok dropped the fox and stolen rations beside the fire to skin later. “No sport in needless kills. Hunger drives them just like us..”
Trem moves to hold Eline. He doesn't say anything just hold her.
Eline wraps her arms around Trem, grateful for his comforting gesture. Oddly enough, she feels safe in his arms, and rests her head against his chest. Her emotions subside some, and she sniffles loudly. In an almost emotionless voice now, distant and disconnected, Eline regales her horrifying tail to Trem in full, leaving no detail out.
She tells him of her and her mother's bond, and how they were so connected. She tells him how her father became ever more distant and dispassionate toward her and her mother. She tells him how she found her mother dead at his hand, a wicked blade plunged into her chest. She tells him how she narrowly escaped with her life, and from that day onward, plotted her revenge to get justice for her mother's death. "... and that was all seven years ago, nearly to the day," she finishes her story.
Eline closes her eyes as instructed, and imagines a burning flame in a void. It's hard at first to grasp the image, due to her roiling emotions, but eventually, she is able to capture it in her mind's eye.
Eline tries to imagine herself giving every thought and image to the flame. It is not easy, as she must wade through thoughts and feelings she thought long buried. Nevertheless, she tries.
Roxaria listens to Vauthok so intently that she is taken off-guard as his axe goes sailing by. She turns to follow the axe and watches it strike a fox. Just behind, several other foxes scamper off with some rations. “Damn it! Our food!”
She stands up but realizes it is too late and she resigns herself to sit down again. She continues listening to Vauthok’s story the rest of the night until dawn begins to break followed by light snowfall.
”You mean others getting jealous at how good you are or you getting jealous at others who were trying to be better than you?”
Roxaria listens as she begins to break camp and packing her belongings up. “Because, you know, getting jealous of others who want to be as good as you could be confused as flattery. Not saying this is the case. I know that I’ve looked up to others to try and emulate them because they have qualities I think I should improve on. It sounds though that someone was jealous of you.”
She pauses watching the sun rise, “I am glad that Kavaki put you on this path that crossed with mine. Well, since I was not paying attention, I should see if I can scrounge something up for breakfast.”
Roxaria begins looking around near the encampment to forage any food. Perhaps edible berries or a nestful of eggs from any ground dwelling birds such as pheasants.
Survival: (game log- 4)
”Well, this is going to suck” she mutters, as she struggles to find anything to compensate for the loss of their rations. She tells everyone about the foxes stealing their rations, but Vauthok managed to save a little. “That was my responsibility and I apologize. I will be more attentive next time.”
She helps the others pack up their belongings as they wake up so they can not waste precious daylight.
Vauthok can roll perception since he is awake.
The Foxes rolled 18 for stealth.

The axe flies true killing a fox. The others scurry away as fast as they can. They are about 25 feet from Vauthok.

"I wish I had more power," she chides herself.
I cannot give you more power, but I CAN help you. Close your eyes... picture a flame burning in the void...
Trem tries to help Eline with guided meditation.

Eline closes her eyes as instructed, and imagines a burning flame in a void. It's hard at first to grasp the image, due to her roiling emotions, but eventually, she is able to capture it in her mind's eye.
Now, there's nothing besides the flame. Every thought, every image you have, feed it to the flame.
