During this time, Echo had run to the post to let them know to secure and deliver those wood and nails her dads wanted for that new shed, paying for all of it with her shiny new gold rewards. Winding back to where they said they would meet, she catches the tail of the conversation, "ready to go as well!"
(ooc: where ever the post may be... Echo would know haha lmk how much she'd need to pay for enough wood material and steel and components for a shed lol)
I'm going to say 5 GP. This is me guesstimating, because there's nothing in the official sources about the price of building a shed, hehe.
Jasper keeps a keen eye out, but the path to the mill is calm, and you make it to Adabra's mill without incident. Everything seems quiet, and there's no immediate sign of the manticore.
Khessa does not spot any dangers on her journey to the mill... but perhaps she would have a hard time noticing Cryovain even if he landed her a yard away! Whenever the tall warrior-wizard tries to focus on the surrounding environment (which fortunately seems so peaceful today), a plethora of thoughts and sensations are ready to distract her: the excitement of finally having a real spellbook, the enthusiasm of having Jasper at her side, the occasional touch between their fingers, the curiosity to test Tookrashk's friendship...
When, despite everything, the journey ends without incident, the blonde arcane warrior calls out: "Hey Adabra! It's me, it's Khessa! Are you home? How are you, dear? We are looking for Tookrashk, our manticore friend. He still regularly comes to pick up his meal here, right?"
Jasper waits a few moments after Khessa calls out to Adabra and walks up to the door. He sees the claw marks left by manticore and quietly thinks and hopes that they made the right decision about Tookrashk. Jasper takes his spear and with the blunt end, firmly knocks at the door. “Adabra? Hello?” Jasper calls out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rel looks around for any sign of the midwife or the manticore, secretly hoping that they don't find the latter. If necessary, she also explores the area up the hill to the east with the stones which they had not had time for when they were here earlier.
'Anator, brother of mine,' Khessa speaks telepathically with her familiar 'would you enter from a window and check if Adabra the midwife is home, pretty please? Tell me where she is and if she is well, if you find her; else tell me she is not there'.
She recalls a vivid image of the woman in her mind, so that Anator can recognize her, then she let the bat enter from a window and scout inside.
"Anator will take a look inside." the blonde arcane warrior explains to her companions "Adabra might be sleeping... or she might be out, looking for healing plants or something".
Seeing her friends begin to spread out in an effort to find Adabra, Echo also circles around to the side of the windmill and summons forth her mage hand to knock lightly on the second-storey window, while calling out, "Yoohoo~ It's us again, anybody home?" She pauses and gets distracted by a thought brought about by her own words, turning back to address the group, "hey, guys! Should we come up with a name for ourselves?"
...She pauses and gets distracted by a thought brought about by her own words, turning back to address the group, "hey, guys! Should we come up with a name for ourselves?"
Intrigued by Echo's idea, Khessa proposes: "People of Phandalin seem to start to believe in us, to regain hope... Perhaps we can be the 'Sparks of Hope'?"
As you explore the stones you realize that they are actually cairns, stones that rest atop graves, although whose graves you are not sure.
As Echo uses her mage hand to knock on the window, Adabra opens it up and exclaims, "Oh my, it's you again! One moment, I'll be right down!"
A few moments later, the door opens, and she stands there in a dress and apron, which is covered in different colored splotches. It seems she's been busy with her potion-making. She gives you all an appraising stare but then smiles. "I bet you're looking for that manticore friend of yours. He comes every day to eat his food. I feed him over there."
She points to a spot outside the house where you can see scraps of bones picked clean.
"He hasn't been by yet today so he'll probably be here any minute!"
As if summoned by Adabra's words, you hear the beating of large wings and a large manticore swoops down out of the sky and lands next to the windmill.
"Ahaha, did Tookrashk scare you?" crows the manticore, a gleam in his amber-colored eyes.
"Tookrashk!" Khessa exclaims, really delighted to see that the manticore has continued to behave the way she hoped (plus, perhaps the prolonged relationship with Adabra is helping him to become more 'human'... he is also learning to joke!?) "My friend ! I see you in much better shape now! You would really be able to scare anyone!"
The blonde arcane warrior runs towards the 'friend' she hasn't seen for a few days, hugs him and vigorously scratches him under the fur, looking with her blue eyes in his amber colored ones with pride and affection, then announcing: "I missed you, Tookrashk, you know? And that's also why we came to see you today! We have brought some extra provisions for you and also some more for us, so today we eat together, like a real pack!" the tall warrior-mage wastes no time and actually begins to distribute food to everyone "And for tomorrow, we have an offer for you that I'm sure you will like: come hunting with us! Let's go hunting orcs! Because... could you believe it? They, unlike you, have foolishly refused to be friends of us and, even worse, they want to be friends of the dragon, Cryovain, instead! With them as friends, the dragon would be stronger. We can't have that. So we'll kill them all. For us and you united, it will be very easy. And after we kill them all, you can keep all their bodies to eat! Think what a supply of food! We will leave all the bodies to you, because we don't eat them... they are too hard for us to digest... we will be content on killing them, so that they can't help the dragon. It will be a first and important step to defeat that beast we all hate! We will all leave together in the morning. What do you say, my friend," she smiles "can we count on you?"
“Adabra, good evening.” Jasper greets her at the door. “Yes. We are here for the manticore. And possibly a nights rest. If you would have us?” Jasper humbly asks.
Moments later, the manticore comes flying in. Seeing Khessa excitedly greet Tookrashk, Jasper remains on guard. “Greetings Tookrashk.”

Rel greets Adabra politely and inquires about the potions she is working on.
When the manticore arrives, she steps well back and says nothing, maintaining a blank expression.
It may not attack us now, but may do so the moment it has no food. This is not a pet dog or horse for us to trifle with or romanticize. And it will not think twice about lying to us when it feels the need.
Adabra startles a bit as the manticore lands. "Goodness! I never get used to that," she tells Rel and Jasper. "I usually stay inside when he feeds...you know, just in case."
"Oh, I've just been working on some more healing potions mainly," Adabra explains to Rel. "I have a feeling we're going to need them. If you need to stock up, they're 40 gold a potion. You get the saved-me-from-certain-death discount!" She winks.
Meanwhile, Tookrashk is enjoying the pats and scratches provided by Khessa. At the mention of more food, his eyes gleam. "Food!" he exclaims. "Orcs are food, yes. Tookrashk has eaten orcs before. There are many, many orcs around in the forest. Tookrashk not know why. Stupid orcs and stupid dragon!" The manticore growls at the mention of Cryovain.
Jasper is also interested in Rel asking about potions. And to hear Adabra is making healing potions is eye opening. “You can make healing potions?” Jasper asks Adabra. “I can also make healing potions. I made one the night before we first came here. Traded it for this armor.” Jasper turns to Rel and asks. “Do you know how to make healing potions?” And at this point, Jasper is realizing that he is talking a mile a minute.
“Rel, did you hear Tookrashk? There are orcs near the forest. Maybe we can search that area and see if we can scout any orc encampments.”
Looking at the surface elf with some respect, Rel admits "no, Jasper Mooncrest, I know nothing of the brewing of such potions as the midwife and you do. I have only ever found and drank such potions, never made them. Truly, it is a great gift you and Adabra possess."
She looks over at the manticore, backing away a few more steps and wondering whether to maybe take cover behind the mill somewhere.
I do not wish us to end up with cairns of our own on the hill by taking our truce with the Manticore for granted. In answer to Jasper's question, she whispers: "I was paying less attention to the monstrosity's words, and more to whether it will supplement its meal with some warmer flesh."
“I too am concerned about the manticore’s true intentions. My main concern is everyone’s well being.” Jasper explains to Rel. “Maybe we both keep a close watch on Tookrashk?”Jasper whispers to Rel. “Hopefully if we keep it fed and happy, it will only ever see us as allies and not food.” Jasper leans in and puts his hand on Rel’s shoulder. Speaking a few elvish words, Jasper’s eyes glow white with a hint of blue and cast Vigilant Blessing.(Rel has advantage on next initiative roll. Khessa’s is negated now.)
“It takes time to find the right ingredients. Then spending the day preparing them and brewing them is the hard part. Maybe if we have time in the future, I can show you what my father taught me.” Jasper smiles at Rel.
”Adabra do you know how to make anything else?” Jasper curiously asks.
Jasper is ready and re-energized. Heading out of Phandalin on the familiar trail to the mill, Jasper makes eye contact with Khessa, touching her hand he casts Vigilant Blessing(Advantage on next Initiative Roll).
