“Where heading to my homeland, Barovia…” Markus says as the others bicker “These zombies are nothing compared to the Barovian zombies… this is the mist that connect all of the Domains of Dread. Now quit your bickering and keep your voices down be for you attract more undead…”
Markus continues to keep his spear and shield close to him ready for another way of undead. “Besides if you want to run it’s too late for that; you’ll just end up as the undead that we just put down. You’ve only have two choices now survive or die and dying would be the easiest route.”
"He is right. Zombies are the least of the threats you will face. To those that hold the power in this land we are all nothing but playthings to use and discard at their leisure. Do whatever you must to prepare yourselves and stay alet." Malkador adds before he goes back to keeping watch on their surroundings. If he sees anything that remotely looks like another zombie he will begin to fire on it with his bow.
The fog spills out of the forest to swallow up the road behind you. Ahead, jutting from the impenetrable woods on both sides of the road, are high stone buttresses looming gray in the fog. Huge iron gates hang on the stonework. Dew clings with cold tenacity to the rusted bars. Two headless statues of armed guardians flank the gate, their heads now lying among the weeds at their feet. They greet you only with silence.
These are the eastern gates of Barovia. These Stone Giant Statues are alive, but are unable to see or hear, so they do not react to your approach. The other three gates also have Stone Giant Statues, but they have their heads, and stop/kill anyone from entering, and stop/kill anyone from leaving.
"Keep on the path ahead and do not let the wagons get out of sight. Once we go through the gates we'll be in Barovia." Malkador warns as he rests his hands on one of the swords at his side and the other close to his bow.
There was a misunderstanding. Barovia is massive in size. The east gate is the only one used by you and your group, due to the statues. Miles away, the north, south, and west gates have statues with heads. You also have to enter the gates to officially get into Barovia.
ST4-B13 keeps close to the wagons as they pass through the gate, its head moving around to take in just the size of such construction. "This one wonders if such gates are to keep something out, or something in; and what a sizable creature it must be if that is the case."

"Yes we are now in Barovia and as for the gate it is both to keep people in and out." Malkador says as he rests his hands on his swords, keeping them there as he walks next to a wagon.
It's still the same forest as before the gates, yes? We should be safe so long as we stay by the road and remain vigilant. For now shall we proceed at a steady pace?
Towering trees, whose tops are lost in heavy gray mist, block out all but a death-gray light. The tree trunks are unnaturally close to one another, and the woods have the silence of a forgotten grave, yet exude the feeling of an unvoiced scream.

Charming place. Is this the stronghold we seek, Markus? If not, shall we stop here for the night?
Relieved to be out of the mist, finally, Van Saer looks the fortification over, looking for potential danger...

(Fixed it.)
Solid advice, gentlemen, so we stay away from all the statues just to be safe, yes? How do we get past?
Van Saer looks over the fortification and the statues again, looking for anything amiss

Keteria draws close to the wagons, and walks alongside them to (and through) the gate.

The gates open in front of the lead wagon and close when the rear one has entered.

Was that the border with Barovia? I've never been this far from home before...

Rethor looks around. "What is this place? It gives me the willies."
